Happy 9th Birthday to our #FiveSibes Pupsters! Three Times the Love!

Image
Surrogate Momma Harley joins in for some nom-noms! What a party it was! Check it out... Gibson once again stopped in from The Rainbow Bridge to visit his  younger siblings for their birthday!  ~Once FiveSibes: Always FiveSibes~ Since I'm posting at the end of the day Thursday on the Pupsters Birthday, I'm tying it in with our Flashback Friday!  In addition to the Pupster's flashback photo from 2008 when they were just mere pups, here's another special Flashback Friday photo from four years ago of all FiveSibes, including big brother furangel Gibson, enjoying the best part of the day...cake time...at the Pupster's 5th Birthday party! Flashback Fridays are brought to you by us - the FiveSibes - and now also our co-hosts, Love is being owned by a Husky each Friday. We hope you'll find a photo or video from Memory Lane, post it, and link up to our blog hop each week! If you don't catch it on ...

Auld Lang Syne

Image
Happy New Year & Happy Birthday, furangel Gibson! It's been a few weeks since I've last posted and what a roller coaster of a ride it has been. Some of it pretty wonderful, and some tragically sad, which led to my blogging absence during the holiday season. It seems along with our return, the new year, and in keeping with the theme of  "Auld Lang Syne," it is very appropriate that we return today on a Flashback Friday and on what would have been Gibson's 11th Birthday, with a recap of our holiday, and a tribute to family members no longer with us. With Gibson always in our thoughts, the rest of the FiveSibes patiently awaited Santa Paws' arrival on Christmas! They also have been adjusting to having a newborn baby in the house ( see my 4Knines article on "How to Prepare Yo ur Dogs for a Newborn Baby" )! It has been a fun and exciting time for all here. I have been so in love with my new grandson, Cody, enjoying spending time togeth...

Paw Prints Forever on My Heart

Image
I've really been missing my big sweet boy, Gibson...and today began as one of "those" days where his absence feels so overwhelming. Then, while out with the rest of the #FiveSibes on the deck this morning, I actually heard a fifth set of paws crossing the wooden floor as they were all coming back inside... Perhaps a visit, or his way of showing us he is always with us.  Paw Prints On My Heart You came into my heart one day, So beautiful and smart, My dear and sweet companion, I loved you from the start. And though I knew the time Would come, When we would have to part, You’ll never be forgotten, You left paw prints on my heart. ~Author Unknown #MissingGibson #LiveGibStrong #FiveSibesForever #LiveGibStrongForever   Shared via Missing My Pets at the Rainbow Bridge Facebook page. And, as coincidence would have it, after I posted Gib's photo on social media, I then hop over to link up to BlogPaws' Wordless Wednesd...

A Chat With Gibson Marks 6-Month Anniversary

Image
A chat with Gibson. ( Video may not play on mobile devices ). Today marks the six-month anniversary of the day that my sweet big wooly boy, Gibson, journeyed North of the Rainbow Bridge. I so miss him. I loved and miss all of our wonderful "conversations," how he would say, "Love You!" and the stomping of his big polar bear paw for emphasis! The above video clip is bittersweet - bitter, of course, because he is no longer physically here, but oh-so-sweet because the memory brings a smile to my face and just floods me with joy as I remember all the wonderful days like this one. With all the challenges he faced being an Epi-dog, he was beautiful, brave, so very silly, and just the happiest Husky! He was, and always will be, my inspiration to push on during the hard times, lay back and enjoy the good times, and always greet each day with a big smile, just like he did. Six months. Half a year. So very hard to believe. “The strangeness of Time. ...

Flashback Friday Fondly Looks Back at Gibson's First Wonderful Puppy Days...

Image
With Purple Day® for Epilepsy happening tomorrow, Saturday, March 26, and earlier this week was National Puppy Day, I thought this would be a good day to spotlight my beloved, beautiful furangel, Gibson, as my Flashback Friday feature. Strolling down Memory Lane to 10 years ago...to April of 2006...when I shot this photograph of my big, fluffy, fuzzy, happy wooly Siberian Husky boy at just four months old and on his second day as part of  my family! What a cutie pie! This is one of my favorite first photos of him, and sitting here now, missing him, I can close my eyes and see this moment so clearly. He was so happy, right from the start...and especially after meeting his true love, Harley! (This was taken right after the two of them had a good romp and run around the yard together!) It would be another almost three years before he was to begin his journey on the road called Canine Epilepsy. Through all of his life, Gibson greeted each day with this big, happy beautiful smile o...

Chasing Shadows on a Sunset Run

Image
A beautiful 36℉ evening with a glorious sunset was the perfect setting for a nice run for our FiveSibes Pupsters:  Chloe, Wolf, and Bandit, as they chased the shadows and each other! Wolf's first run since his surgery, and he sure enjoyed it! What a perfect ending to a sunny Sunday. "Sometimes you gotta run wild  and free."   ~Unknown Author Shadow Shot Sunday 2

What's Cookin'? A Recipe for Fun Memories of Gibson on a FiveSibes Flashback Friday

Image
"Oh, hey, Mom! Just checking out some recipes!" This week the weather has been very damp, raining, and we even had a few rare northeast February thunder and lightning storms! With the inclement weather, it's a perfect time to warm  up by doing a little baking. As I reached for one of my favorite cookbooks and removed it from the shelf, I smiled through tears as I traced the chewed up cover, and the taped up spine and torn pages, remembering back to when the cover was destroyed. Gibson had another bout of hind end weakness and his rehabilitation included being in a stability harness brace and my walking him in a sling harness to keep weight off his hind end, combined with rest on his water bed along with supplements and laser therapy. He obviously became very bored one night when I walked out into the kitchen and caught him in the middle of chomping on my cookbooks! The expression on his face was priceless! He had removed several of them off the lowest shelf and ju...

A Day for Love: Valentine's Day

Image
Happy Valentine's Day from all of us here at FiveSibes! My boy Wolf loves to smell roses, and he loved the bouquet of red ones my hubby gave me today. As he went over to give them a sniff, I photographed him framed against the sunlight pouring in the window, casting him in a shadowy glow for today's Shadow Shot Sunday! Shadow Shot Sunday 2 In other Valentine's Day news... On today's Valentine's Day episode of my Dog Works Radio show, "The Sibe Vibe," my featured guest is Nanette Willis of Sassy's Goodies in Missouri.
