Happy International Cat Day Featuring Our Cats & Cat-Loving Husky!

Image
FiveSibes #Flashback ~ Gibson keeping an eye on kitties Binx and Smokie ~ 2011 Since it is International Cat Day, I thought it would be a great time to share this pic of my beloved boy, Gibson, keeping an eye on our adopted tuxedo feral boy, "Binx," and behind him is our dear sweet "Smokie" who had been abandoned by her family and found her way to our house and straight into our hearts. Then Smokie found Binx, who was just a wild neighborhood kitten, and brought him home to our house, and straight into our hearts! I could just hear Smokie telling Binx, "No worries. I know where you can live. Come home with me!" Is Binx doing magic and walking on air? Nope, he was strolling up the windshield to my car to say hello to us when we pulled in!  They were two of the most beautiful cats I've ever seen. Smokie was a gorgeous long-fur gray cat who I dubbed an honorary Husky cat due to her fur coat! Binx was a handsome tuxedo kitty! While he was fera...

Winter Solstice: A Tribute to Our Beloved Snow Dogs

Image
T he longest night...we light a candle in memory of each of our beloved FiveSibes snow dogs—Harley, Gibson, Wolfie, Chloe, and Bandit and also our beloved Sandy and Chelsey (and honorary Husky kitty Smokie) who have all earned their furangel wings. Winter Solstice is a time to pay tribute to these amazing northern breed dogs who loved snow so very much. I like to think of my fab five all together once again having snow zoomies north of the Rainbow Bridge...and...in their own special way, they once again sent me snow today to let me know they are always with me. ❄️ There used to be a site to post tributes to our Siberian Huskies on the Solstices, but sadly it is no longer up. Instead, we share it here on our blog and our FiveSibes: Siberian Husky K9 News & Reviews Facebook page where you can also post a pic of your beloved snow dog under our Winter Solstice post.          Back to our Home Page for the MENU to visit Our #LiveGibStrong On-Line K...

Rainbow Bridge Memorial Day Tribute

Image
Celebrating the Lives of Beloved Furangels  Although we always remember of fur loves, August 28th was Rainbow Bridge Memorial Day, and we are joining in to pay tribute to our dearly departed pets who forever hold a dear space in our hearts...   Gibson, my forever heart dog and brave Epi-warrior who  loved me, his Harley and pack family, and life so much. There will never be another that fills my heart like you did, still do, and always will. The bond and understanding we shared was once-in-a-lifetime. My heart still hurts at your absence. You will be forever missed, my beautiful sweet Gibbie.   Our sweet furangel kitty, Smokie, who had been abandoned and found herself to our home and became part of our family for five wonderful years.   May my sweet boy, furangel Gibson, be enjoying some cool breezes with furangel Smokie, North of the Rainbow Bridge. I like to think he's hanging out in the Bridge's grassy fields with my other fur...

From Feral to Family...Happy National Cat Day!

Image
Our sweet Binx was a starving, feral cat who was wandering the neighborhood. This beautiful tuxedo kitten was afraid of everyone and everything. Then he met my daughter. Binx has now been adopted into our family, has been vetted, neutered, and is a real love bug. Gibson and Wolf love to watch Binx slink across the yard and stalk them. Binx loves to walk the fence in the backyard and meow to torment the Huskies! He will also sit by the family room window and rub and meow as Chloe and Bandit sit on the loveseat and watch...and watch...and watch! Harley, she will cautiously keep an eye on Binx, but so far, Binx knows just how far he can go! Binx was originally brought to our doorstep by our furangel, Smokie, who also was abandoned and starving until she strolled across our lawn and met my daughter. After a can of salmon and lots of petting, Smokie decided she liked our family and would allow us to include her. Smokie was with us for five wonderful years. She brought home Bin...

With Gratitude on Mother's Day

Image
T he Pupsters with their surrogate mother, Harley. Happy Mother's Day to all the moms of two- and four-legged children! The Pupsters Chloe, Wolf, and Bandit gave their surrogate mom, Harley, some Sibe kisses and nose pokes as their special gift to her today! Before we share our special Mother's Day video card with you today, I would like to take a moment to express my sincere gratitude. Yesterday, as you know, was a very sad day for us here with our sweet cat Smokie suddenly leaving for the Rainbow Bridge. I would like to take a moment to say "thank you" with heartfelt appreciation for all the wonderful comments, notes, Emails, and tributes to our sweet girl. This is truly a wonderful community of caring and compassionate pet lovers, and I'm so proud to be part of it. Your thoughts and wishes have been so comforting as we make this journey of losing Smokie and having to adjust back to a life without her. Our sidewalk is so bare without her furry self rolling...

Goodbye, Sweet Smokie

Image
We are so sad to announce that our sweet Smokie earned her furangel wings and crossed the Rainbow Bridge suddenly today. I received a phone call this morning that she was hit by a car right around the corner from our house. A good samaritan (who did not hit her), named Gwen, stopped, picked her up, brought her to our vet, who rushed her into emergency surgery. Both Gwen and our vet called me to let me know what happened. Smokie did not make it...she passed from a brain hemorrhage, but our vet assured us that she did not suffer. My daughter and I are devastated. We were with her as she began her journey to the Rainbow Bridge, even though she had already passed.  As many of you know, Smokie was a starving, abandoned young cat when my daughter rescued her. She has been a loving part of our lives for over four years. She loved to roll in the grass, get her tummy rubbed, and we always joked that she was our "watch" cat as she was always patrolling and sunning herself in the...
