FBF: A Tribute to All the Moms & A Special Poem From An EpiDog to His Hu-Mom

Image
T his is a big weekend for Moms of all orders...Saturday, May 11th is Dog Mom's Day and Sunday is Mother's Day! So whether you are a mom, adoptive mom, foster mom, surrogate mom, mom-in-law, a friend-who-is-like-a-mom, a grandmom standing in for a mom, a dog mom, or a hu-mom to any pet, this weekend is all about celebrating YOU! Because this is a dog blog, naturally, I'm going to concentrate on our hu-moms, adopted dog hu-moms, and foster hu-moms. Oh, how fun is to to celebrate with our beloved dogs.  While I absolutely adore being a mom of a human child, I loved being a dog mom, too. While all of my beloved FiveSibes and adopted dogs have now earned their furangel wings, they are forever in my heart, and I will forever be a proud Dog/Husky Momma.   As most of you know, Gibson was diagnosed with idiopathic epilepsy shortly after his third birthday. I met so many wonderful fellow Epi-dog mommas during our six-year journey with Canine Epilepsy. One of the hu-moms, w...

#FlashbackFriday: Celebrating Momma Dog

Flashback ~ "Momma" Harley and pupsters  Wolfie, Chloe & Bandit ~ 2008 With Mother's Day this weekend, I thought it was a perfect time to reflect back on our FiveSibes beautiful "momma" Harley for today's Flashback Friday. While Harley did not actually birth the Pupsters--Wolf, Chloe, and Bandit, she took them under her paw and treated and trained them as her own from the moment we brought all three puppies home. It truly was a wonderful thing to see her relationship with the Pupsters over the years, and how they always listened and respected her as their momma and the pack's alpha queen!  "Momma" Harley and her pupsters: Wolf, Chloe & Bandit ~ 2016 “Motherhood: All love begins  and ends there. ”   ~Robert Browning         (You'll have to screenshot it!)     Back to FiveSibes Blog Home Page Visit our FiveSibes Website!    Visit our FiveSibes Facebook Page!

Happy Mother's Day!

A Mother's Day Dog Lovers Poem For fondly telling stories of my antics as a pup,   And for knowing yummy dog treats are the way to cheer me up... For cleaning all the mud when I forget to wipe my paws,   And for taking time to scratch my ears and cuddle “just because,” For comforting my worries when we’re driving to the vet, And for giving me the words of praise that others may forget, For showing me you love me in so many different ways — I’m wishing you the happiest and best of Mother’s Days!  ~Author Unknown

Ode to All Moms: Happy Mother's Day!

Today marks my first Mother's Day without my beloved Mom and my boy Gibson. My heart is heavy with their loss, and just one month apart. This month marks six months-- a half of a year- -that my mother has been gone. Five months since Gibson earned his silver wings. And today is the date my father passed away, 42 years ago. Time stops for no one, yet leaves us in such a surreal state. They will always be in my heart and in my memories, and I'm so thankful for having them in my life . I am also very blessed to be a mom to a wonderful, caring, beautiful daughter who makes every day a gift with her joy and love! I am al so happy to be the FiveSibesMom, and for my four remaining Sibes who continue to share their Husky love and make me smile , even though we all feel Gibson's absence. Grieving is a strange companion. Such an emptiness where l oved ones who have left should be...yet, happiness for all the blessings still remaining in our lives. There are many kinds...

A FiveSibes Song for a Happy Mother's Day!

Happy  Mother's Day Husky-style from our FiveSibes to all Moms of human and fur kids! We hope you have a howling good day! I'd also like to give a big "thank you" to Frank Gonzales of the H2M2 Nation group on Facebook for featuring us as their cover photo today and including us in their wonderful tribute to Husky and Malamute Moms! We are honored! My day started off wonderfully when my daughter and her fiance served me a yummy mimosa, muffin, and chocolate-covered strawberries ~ yum! A beautiful Hallmark moment topped off the morning! (Yes, I'm big fan of sentimental cards!) And as you can see, Harley, our pupsters' surrogate momma, was checking everything out in the background! And then later in the day, after a visit to my own Mom, we had a BBQ that was followed by dairy fresh ice cream for the boys in the family...and as you can see, Gibson sure enjoyed it! We sure hope you all had a wonderful Mom's Day!   "Mother, the r...
