It's here! While Memorial Day Weekend unofficially kicks off the summer season here, it is also important to remember why we celebrate, as my flashback poster above featuring Wolf depicts. Thank You, Heroes... Remembering our K9 Heroes... Honor Your Veteran, Share A Memory Share a Remembrance | National Memorial Day Concert | PBS : Honor the fallen: Share your memories of a friend or loved one on the National Memorial Day Concert's Wall of Remembrance. “We do not know one promise these men made, one pledge they gave, one word they spoke; but we do know they summed up and perfected, by one supreme act, the highest virtues of men and citizens. For love of country they accepted death, and thus resolved all doubts, and made immortal their patriotism and their virtue.” - ~ James A. Garfield May 30, 1868 Arlington National Cemetery Thank you to all our veterans - male, female, and K9 - who gave the ultimate sacrifice in order for us ...

Veterans Day: Honoring Our Heroes

Image
Today is Veterans Day. Please take a moment on this 11th day of the 11th month at the 11th hour to reflect upon all of our veterans, past and present, two-legged and four-legged, who bravely defend our country and our rights. If you see a veteran, say "Thank You" for their service. Ask them how they are. If you are lucky, they will share a piece of history--their living history--with you.  Why not visit your local animal shelter and make a donation of food, treats, goods, or money in the name of a K9 soldier? Or check with the U.S. Military War Dog Association to see how you can help these military service dogs  and their handlers of today by visiting their website HERE . Also please visit the Save-A-Vet website, the Military and Law Enforcement Working Dog Rescue and Support site HERE to hear all about these amazing K9 heroes and how you can sponsor, support, and/or adopt one of these amazing dogs. Thank you to our K9 Veterans... ...the U.S. Milita...

Today is Memorial Day - a day of remembrance for fallen United States servicemen, women, and canines, who bravely served our country. While it unofficially marks the start of summer in many areas, with family get-togethers, picnics, barbeques, pool time, and more, we can not forget the true meaning of the day and take a few minutes to pay homage to those veterans who made the ultimate sacrifice throughout the years for our country. Siberian Husky "Buck," War Dog Amabasador     War Dogs: Husky Heroes   Did you know that the Siberian Husky and Malamutes were used as War Dogs during WWII? If you are a reader of my blog, you have read my previous posts about their important role during the war. I also talk about Buck, pictured above. If you are a newcomer,  Buck was the U.S. War Dogs Ambassador, and along with his handler, Vietnam veteran Johnny Mayo, Buck traveled 25,000 miles across the country being the voice for heroic War Dogs who ser...
