Crafty Individuals Samples

Hi there! A couple of weeks ago Jean was on the Craft Store with the latest release of Crafty Individuals stamps. They are absolutely gorgeous designs from Dora and from Jean too. You can find the stamps and the gorgeous papers on the website here.

I really loved making my samples! Let me show you them all...

First is a stampboard pendant...

The gorgeous cyanotype papers make a beautiful backdrop for any scene...

Dora's gorgeous flowers also go so well with the papers...

They are equally suited to CAS and to mixed media as well as scene building.
The leaves are also great for creating your own backgrounds...
or match your colours to the papers
Another of Dora's beautiful flowers just stamped on Kraft and coloured with coloured pencils
A couple of scenes...

and finally a faux printers tray using a stencil from Bee crafty
I hope you enjoyed seeing them!
It has been a busy week or three with test driving and buying our first new car in 12 years! We picked it up last Thursday and have been getting used to it - technology has changed somewhat since we last bought a car, lol. I am loving it though. I will try and make a few more blog land visits this week.
Thanks for looking!

Mother's day inspiration

Hi There! Several people asked me how I made the background for the first of my samples that I shared last week, so I thought I would do a step by step. This time though I thought it could be a little inspiration for Mother's Day as it is on Sunday here in the UK.

I used Distress inks in spiced marmalade, mustard seed, festive berries, picked raspberry, wilted violet, citrus twist, mermaid lagoon, blueprint sketch and black soot.

The stamps I used were Typewriter Alpha, Ledger and Jane's Flowers and Leaves 1

6" Heart Easy Frame inkable

Something to splatter - Water or something containing mica powders (I used some very old sprays)

Versafine Clair black ink and versamark ink

Clear and white embossing powder

Here is how I made it:

First I applied the distress inks in patches around the edge of a 13cm square of card with make-up blender brushes. I swiped the pink and the purple lightly across the middle, but left it lighter than around the edge.

Next I stamped over the inked card with the ledger stamp and the versafine clair ink.

I put the heart inkable 'innie' in the middle of the card and brushed the black ink around it and around the edge of the panel.

I then used the water and mica sprays to add a few splatters and set aside to dry.

Once it was dry I matted and layered it onto black paper and a white 15cm square card.

Next I stamped three flowers in black ink on to white card and clear embossed them.

Once they had cooled, I cut them out and shaped a little with a ball tool.

I Stamped 'Mum' using Versamark ink and white embossed onto a scrap of black card.

Finally I added them to the card using 3d glue gel. Hope you like it!

Hope all the Mums out there have a good Mother's day despite Lockdown. Lets hope we can celebrate properly later in the year.

Flowery Birthday Greetings

Hi there! It is Monday, so I am here with another project featuring some Bee Crafty products. With grey cold weather and potential snow I decided to go for hot colours on a 15cm square card.

I began by making a background using Distress oxide inks in Spiced Marmalade, Abandoned Coral and Worn Lipstick. I swiped the ink pad on to a piece of acetate, misted with water and applied to the card. It is smooshing but with more accuracy as you can see where you are putting the colours. I first saw Dot Leathbridge use this technique on a facebook live and thought how clever it was.

I dried with a heat tool before using Inkable mandala 1 to sponge more Abandoned coral distress oxide through, then splattered with water. I set this aside to dry.

Next I stamped 3 flowers and the leaves from the regular Doodle Art dragonfly set on to watercolour card using versafine clair ink.

I coloured them with Ecoline brush pens and cut them out. I then matted and layered the background onto a card. I also gave them a coat of collage medium (I used one with a gloss finish)

I arranged and attached the flowers and leaves to the background using 3d glue and added some glossy accents to the centre of the flowers.

I stamped the sentiment from Everyday Sentiments 2 onto the background with versafine clair ink, being careful not to smudge the glossy accents.

Here is another look at the finished card. Hope you like it!

Hope you are okay and managing to fill your lockdown time in a good way.

Thanks for looking and for all your lovely comments. They really make my day!

Mid month inspiration for May

It is mid-way through May so time for our mid month inspiration for Stamping Sensations where the theme is
***Say it with Flowers***
My mid month creation has a sentiment from Hobby art, and two recent woodware stamps - Vetch and Cow Parsley over an ink dusted background. I added a few highlights in white and silver pens. I do hope you get chance to enter the challenge
How are you doing? Hope you are okay and staying safe and well. I think we are all on a bit of an emotional rollercoaster at the moment. It is important to realise that it is okay to not be okay at the moment, but equally, talking about it can help. I'm keeping very busy with various things including some really amazing new stamps from Crafty Individuals that are going to be on Hochanda, along with shows from Chocolate Baroque on 2nd June.  see if you can catch the shows - you won't be disappointed! I'm continuing with the craft sort out, doing some sewing and crochet, doing karate on Zoom 3 times a week as well as helping to manage the Crafty Individuals facebook group. We would love for you to join us there if you haven't already - just click the link. We have a project of the week award for a stamp prize, a monthly challenge (ATCs this month) for a larger prize and Jean also does giveaways on her Facebook Lives which are at 2.30pm on Wednesdays and Fridays.
Thanks for looking and for all your lovely comments!

May at Stamping Sensations

Good Morning! I hope all is good with you, and that you are well.  It is May, and time for a new challenge at Stamping Sensations and the theme this month is

***Say it with Flowers***

Also this month we have two fabulous sponsors, Chocolate Baroque and our very own
Dora, who has her own range of wonderful digital images, as well as designing some stamps for Crafty Individuals.
My first card features the beautiful honeysuckle from the Chocolate Baroque fragrant honeysuckle stamp plate and was coloured with zig clean colour real brush markers.

My second card is one of the stunning new digi flower stamps just released by Dora and coloured with pencil crayons. The sentiment and text stamp on this one are from Crafty Individuals.

Please remember we are a stamping challenge and the focal element of your work must reflect the theme (i.e. Flowers), a few added flowers as an embellishment will not suffice and not be eligible for the prizes. Whist we prefer conventional stamping, digital images are allowed. You can check out the challenge rules here.

Do go to the challenge blog to check out the breathtaking creations from my multi-talented teamies. You can also find more details of the fantastic prizes!

Thanks for looking and for your lovely comments. Apologies for the randomly highlighted parts of my text. Not entirely sure what has happened there but after 20 minutes of playing around trying to change it I have given up.
Stay safe friends xxx

Mid month reminder for Stamping Sensations

Here is my mid month inspiration for Stamping Sensations where the theme is 'Anything goes with flowers'. The stamps and stencils are from Bee Crafty. The sentiment is an Inkylicious stamp. I stamped the base card with oxide inks in peacock feathers, Blueprint sketch and broken china. I used the same colours as the background for the sunflower too. The sunflower was stamped in versafine clair and coloured with zig clean color real brush markers. I recently bought some transleucent nuvo drops that were going cheap, so I used them here and there too. I really can't get enough of this stamp! I may have to get the smaller one as well 😁

Stamping Sensations for September

Good morning, It's time for our September challenge at Stamping Sensations and this month we are looking for

 ****Anything goes with flowers****
As the title suggest we would love to see your hand-stamped creations that include flowers. I am sure you will come up with lots of fabulous and colourful designs.
My card's focal image is a gorgeous sunflower from our wonderful sponsors this month, Bee Crafty, in fact all of the stamps used were created by them. The background was made by blending and stamping distress oxide inks and the flowers were coloured with watercolour markers. The flowers on the left were fussy cut and stuck on with 3d glue. I finished it off with some liquid pearls.

Even though it is an easy theme, we need you to play by the rules:
Please can I remind you we are a stamping challenge so must see a stamped image which reflects the theme as the focal element of your artwork , this means:
Stamping must be the central point of attention and interest
There is a fabulous £25 store voucher for our lucky winner. There are some wonderful stamps and stencils on the Bee Crafty website.
I had more colouring inspiration whilst on holiday, visiting Helmsley Walled garden, where they had a fabulous collection of sunflowers. I'm afraid I took rather a lot of photos of them!

Lol, sorry about that! I'm feeling very 'sunny' as tomorrow is my first official day of retirement!
Do pop over to the challenge blog and take a look at the fabulous creations from my talented team mates!

Mid month inspiration for Stamping Sensations

Here is my mid month inspiration for Stamping Sensations where the theme is 'The Earth laughs in flowers'. The stamp is from Honey Doo crafts and was another birthday present from my hubby. It comes with a fabulous sentiment about repotting. I stamped the base card with the same stamp in Memento Desert sand, adding a bit of colour wash to it with a paint brush. I coloured the main image with Arteza brush pens.
