Journaling girl makes for Bee Crafty Journaling girls day

Hi There! Thought I would share the samples I made for Tuesday's Journaling girls day on Bee Crafty Facebook page. The journaling girls stamps are all here.  All of the lives are available still and will also be added to the YouTube channel very soon.   My first make has a background stamped with the Mixed Messages 1 stamp set in Blueprint Sketch, Uncharted Mariner and Salvaged Patina distress oxide inks.

I created a background for this journal spread in my Dylusions black journal, using dylusions shimmer paint, black and white gesso and white embossing powder
Here is an older journal spread using more shimmer paints and the Fern flourish Big one inkable
This background was created using Dina Wakley gloss sprays and the Bakewell Big ones inkable. I stamped some background elements from the journaling essentials set onto stamping tissue using versafine clair ink and added them using matte medium. I also used the Spontaneous Words transparencies
I made a collage background for this card, using an old book page and Catalyst papers set 2
This scrap of smooshed paper using Wild Honey and Mermaid Lagoon Distress oxide was the perfect background for Sam. This time I also used the brand new 'Speak your Truth' transparencies
This was the card I created during the facebook live - not quite identical to the one above, but almost! you can find it here

Sassy Journal spread

Hi There! Hope you have had a great time over the last few days and been able to celebrate Christmas with your loved ones. I am here to share a step by step for a rather cheeky journal spread I made recently in my Kraft Journal.

I began by painting white gesso on each page leaving a kraft border. I then painted over with the dylusions paint and dylusions shimmer paint in random patches.

Next I added some Dina Wakely metallic paint.
I used a dinkable and a texture disc to add some texture - some with texture paste and some with white gesso
Once this was dry I added stamping in Black versafine clair - First the ledger stamp...
Then some coffee rings and numbers from the coffee stains set. I set this aside to dry.
I stamped the Sassy Journaling Girl in black onto white paper and cut out
I stuck her to the page with Distress Collage Matte medium.
Next I selected a back chat sticker and added it to the opposite page.

Finally I added a few sequins, white splatters and highlights using moonlight gelly rolls, a posca pen and the Dina Wakely white gloss spray.
I used:

Journaling girl Makeover

Hi There! Last time Bev and Sam were on the Craft Store, Adam was talking about creating fabric dresses for the journaling girls, so I decided to have a go.

I began by stamping Sam on to a piece of calico with Archival ink.

Next I used a combination of Inktense blocks and Dina Wakely scribble sticks to colour her skin and hair.

I found some lovely variegated embroidery thread in yellow and brown that was perfect for hair and used long stitch. I also added a row of pale pink seed beads at the base of her bun.
Next I took a square of  fabric (This was a dyed silk handkerchief) and placed it over the top half of the stamped image. I lined it up with the sleeves then stitched across the shoulders and neck with a small running stitch.

Once this was secured in place I pulled the top edge of the fabric down and added some more small stitches around the edge of the bodice to secure the fabric, tuck in the raw edges and add some shape.

I took a rectangle of fabric approximately16x12cm . I attatched the centre point to the waistline using a small running stitch.
I then pulled the top of the fabric down and added a row of the seed beads to the waistline. I arranged the skirt and added a few more seed beads to keep it in place. I also added a sequin and a seed bead to the bodice.
I used one of the small stamps from the Sam set to add a background using archival inks.
Next I added some interfacing behind the project to make it more sturdy - It doesn't need to be the iron-on variety, just a piece of fabric, felt, thin wadding or batting. This was secured in place by adding a border of lace around the edges. I used my sewing machine for this but it could have easily been hand stitched. I also added a strip of ribbon down each side, which I secured using sequins and seed beads.
I sprayed an mdf butterfly hanger (This is a sneaky peek!) with Dina Wakely gloss sprays in Fuchsia and White and added a couple of loops of ribbon.
I gave her some earrings to match...
then finally I attached the panel to the hanger with a couple of stitches at each side.
Here are links to the products used:

I also used scraps of ribbon and lace, Embroidery thread, seed beads, Sequins, a softly draping fabric for the dress (you could pick something up in a charity shop to cut up), Calico and interfacing/wadding/ batting.
The important thing with a little project like this is it doesn't need to be super neat. The edges can be left raw and the stitches don't need to be tiny neat ones. Some people call it slow stitching, and it is as much about the mindfulness of using a needle and thread as the finished product. A bit of ironing of the calico at the beginning and end will help it to look good. it also doesn't need to be expensive. You could make something like this from clothing that is past it's best or charity shop bargains.
I hope you like my project today. Thank you so much for all of the congratulations messages on grading to 1st Dan. I am eagerly awaiting delivery of my belt embroidered with my name in Japanese in gold!

Journaling girl samples for Bee Crafty

Hi There! I am here with my samples for the Journaling girl stamps that were on The Craft Store last Tuesday. You can find the stamp bundle here

The first of my samples is a tag that was sprayed with Dina Wakely gloss sprays before adding 'Bev' and some Dylusions back chat stickers
The background of this one was painted with Dylusions shimmer paints and stamped with the arrow stamps. I added a heat embossed sentiment from Ticker tape 2 set
The background of this one was made using the new D'inkables set (set 10) and distress ink. The word stamps are from Creativity words small
I used some of the smaller stamps for this one over a distress oxide spray background. The brick patter was made using the dinkable from set 2
I created a background using the smaller stamps and the cloud dinkable, then added the sentiment and Bev using 3d glue. The sentiment is from Small words
For this last one I made a collage background using tissue and music paper that had been sprayed with gloss sprays and distress oxide sprays. I used a dinkable to add some hearts  then added Sam and Bev and a heat embossed sentiment created with the Typewriter Alpha .
Just in case you want them seperately,
I am looking forward to playing with these some more and hope to use them on fabric very soon.
