Bird Artist Trading Cards

Hi there! Thought I would show you how I made this trio of ATCs for my blog post this week.

I began by smooshing some distress inks onto 3 ATC blanks.

Once these were dry, I used the same inks to add some more ink through the tag inkables
Next I added some stamping to the backgrounds using Journaling essentials 2 and the same shades of distress ink
Setting the backgtrounds to one side I stamped the Birds onto some book paper using brown versafine clair ink.
I added a little shading using a brown colouring pencil
I stuck these birds to the backgrounds using Matte Medium. As the Kingfisher was too large to fit I cut off the tail
Once dry, I added sentiments from the same stamp sets
Finally I added a splatter or two of Tarnished Brass Distress stain.
Here are the finished ATCs again.
I used:
ATC blanks (Cards measuring 2.5x3.5 inches)
Distress inks in Mermaid Lagoon, Wild Honey and Gathered Twigs
Book paper
Brown colouring pencil

I will leave you with a photo of the Journal page I created during my live last Wednesday, also using the Rainbow Birds stamp set along with Mixed messages 4 and Journaling essentials 1
You can find the live here

A Quick card

Hi There! thought I would show you how I made this quick card today!

I began by taping the outie of Mandala inkable #4 to a 6x6 card, then blending distress ink into the centre. I used Twisted citron in the middle, then peacock feathers and wilted violet around the outside.
Next I popped the mandala in and blended black soot ink through it.
I removed the inkable and stamped the bird and words from Sketchy Birds into the centre.
Using a grey pencil crayon I added a little shading around the bird.
Here is the finished card again. Perfect for a teacher at the end of term 😉
I used:
6x6 card blank
Distress inks in Twisted Citron, Peacock Feathers, Wilted Violet and Black Soot
Grey Colouring Pencil

Our Challenge over in the Bee Crafty Stamps Facebook Group is to make a quick card. I hope this inspires you to come over and join us and have a go! Thanks for looking!

Inspired by Bev

Hi There! I couldn't wait to play with the latest journaling essentials stamps, so I used them on this card for my daughter's birthday. I also wanted to create a card a bit like the ones that Bev did in this live

I began by smooshing Peacock Feathers and Wilted Violet Distress Oxide onto a 14cm square of mixed media card.

Next I used the Andalucian Big One inkable to blend some more ink on to the background.
I used the same inks, plus some black Versafine Clair to add stamping to the background.

Next I stamped a sketchy bird and some sketchy flowers onto a scrap of white card and cut them out.
I coloured the blue tit with coloured pencils but left the flowers white.
I used a black sharpie to add a border to the panel then stuck it to a 15cm square card blank. I added the flowers and bird to the corner of the card using foam pads, and added a few drops of platinum liquid pearls. I also added some glossy accents to the eye and the beak.
Here is the finished card again.
I used:
Distress oxide inks in Peacock Feathers and Wilted violet
Coloured pencils
Platinum Liquid Pearls
Foam pads

Be Free!

Hi There! Thought I would show you another card using the latest stamps from Bee Crafty today.

I began by smooshing some distress oxide inks onto a square of mixed media card, drying with a heat gun between layers.

Using a texture disc and Uncharted Mariner Distress Oxide ink, I added a little stencilling.
I used the journalling essentials stamp set to add more to the background with Wild Honey and uncharted Mariner distress oxide inks.
I also added a border from the new freehand borders stamp set.
Using the innie from the 4" circle easy frame inkable, I added a shadow frame to the centre of the background, using uncharted mariner distress oxide ink.

I stamped the bird from Sketchy birds #1 onto some white card with black versafine ink and cut it out.
I stamped the sentiment in uncharted Mariner onto white card and cut it out, adding both to the card using sticky pads.

Here is the finished card.
I used:
Distress oxide inks in Mermaid lagoon, Mustard seed, Wild Honey, Uncharted Mariner
14cm square of Mixed media card
15 cm square White card

Kraft Journal pages

Hi There! Thought I would show you how I made this journal page, which would be equally suitable for the front of an A6 card. I had been eager to play with the new stamps again, this time combining them with some older ones too.

I began by stamping the script stamp in Unicorn white ink down the centre of the page.

When this was dry, I dry brushed some gesso down the centre of the script and dried it.

I added some mermaid lagoon Distress oxide ink through the circles dinkable ....
...and added some stamping using the oxide ink and some Versafine Clair acorn ink too.

I blended some walnut stain distress ink onto a book page and drew 3 rough circles with a distress crayon. I then cut these out.

I attached them to the page using matte medium.

I used the doodle art Mandalas to add semi circles to the edges

I chose 3 of the sketchy birds and stamped them onto white card and cut them out. I also stamped the sentiment in Versafine Warm Breeze ink.

I attached the birds and sentiment using sticky pads.
Here is the finished page again.....

....and another using different stamps, different colours, and a little more paint (Dylusions bubblegum pink shimmer paint)

I used:
Kraft card
Distress oxide ink - I used Mermaid Lagoon
Versafine clair ink - I used black, Acorn, Warm Breeze and charming pink
Book page
Sticky pads

Thanks for looking! I will be live on the Bee Crafty Facebook page on Wednesday evening at 8pm if you fancy joining me.

Samples for Bee Crafty's latest shows on Hobby Maker

Hi There! Did you See Bev and Sam on Monday's Hobby Maker shows? It was so lovely to see them together and back on our screens!

Here are the samples I made for the first show using the brand new sketchy Birds, sketchy flowers, freehand borders, journaling essentials and mixed messages. There were also 3 new sets of tag inkables and some gorgeous new transparencies.

On these two samples I used the acetates and added a little alcohol ink to the backs of them.

For the swallow I used an acetate and coloured it with alcohol markers.

For these two samples I created a smooshed background and then added stamping using the journaling essentials and sketchy borders

my seed packet holder would make a quick gift for mothers day, Easter, father's day or even as a wedding favour.
The second show had the faces range of stamps plus transparencies, and the first three sets of tag inkalbes. There were also some gorgeous new key and cog mdf pop-outs

On Wednesday evening I did a Facebook live and had a lovely time creating this tropical journal spread using the new stamps. You can find the live here

I used:
There is also a bundle of the new stamps
The pop outs and the transparencies will be on the website very soon
