Karen Burniston Sneak Peek Week - Day 4

I've got another sneak peek for you today using the Lorna Label Pop-up, only this time it's a Double Lorna Label Pop-up.  The front uses the new Happy Easter w/Shadow and some previously released Easter-related dies.

. . . and the inside has the double Lorna Label and the new Easter Borders.  The double pop-up makes a "floating floor" on which I placed the bunnies from the Easter Borders.

All of the new dies will be available for purchase on Monday, February 19th -- although they have been shipped to stores already.

Karen Burniston Designer Challenge -- Bunny

As Easter is right around the corner, the theme for this month's Karen Burniston Designer Challenge is BUNNY.  I thought an Easter basket would be appropriate as well, choosing the Wide Woven Basket for the base of my card.

I've got not one, but two bunnies (Spring Animals) in my basket -- one holding an Easter egg and one holding a little Easter basket.  I added a few more Easter eggs (Easter Charms) and some spring flowers (Flower Pot Pop-Up), as well as the blossoming tree from the Tree Pop-Up in the rear.  As you can see, I also added some braiding around the top of the basket.  This was made from two Border Blends - Trims die-cuts braided together.  I added the Happy Easter sentiment from the Easter Charms set onto the front, having cut a shadow by drawing around the die and cutting with scissors.

This little basket will find its way onto my table for Easter dinner.

Karen Burniston Designer Challenge -- Fireplaces throughout the year

The last Karen Burniston Designer Challenge for the year is a fun one.  All the DT members are using the Fireplace Pop-Up die, but each one of us is celebrating something different.  I'm celebrating Easter with my 5" x 7" card.  On the front I've got an Easter Bunny from the Spring Animals ready to give away some decorated Easter eggs.  The background scenery is some slimline designer paper from Whimsy Stamps, cut to size.

On the inside is my fireplace, all decorated up for Easter.  I used elements from both Fireplace Add-ons 1 and 2.  The scene in the window is the piece of designer paper I cut from the panel used on the front.  And actually, that "window" is one of the frames from the Slim Frames set.  I just added a cross piece to make it look like a double-hung window.

That cute bunny girl is from Paper Nest Dolls, colored with Copic markers.

I'm anxious to see all the different ways the DT has used this fireplace die for their cards.

Scor-Pal "More Than One Score" Challenge

It's time for the Scor-Pal "More than One Score" challenge again.  As Easter is this month, I thought an Easter card would be appropriate.    I haven't made an easel card in quite a while, so I thought that would be fun.   In addition to the two scores required for the card base, I also scored the crease lines on the ribbon.

The bow and the Easter eggs are from Cottage Cutz, and the border die across the top is from Karen Burniston . . .

. . . as is the Happy Easter sentiment inside.

Karen Burniston Sneak Peek - Day 2

In this new Karen Burniston release are two more cover plates -- one with Holly and the other with Snowflakes.  Today I'm using the Holly one for a relatively simple card.

I liked the white border around the sample card on the packaging, so I emulated it with a 5" x 6 1/2" card.  I also used one of the smaller Long Rectangles - Crosshatch dies for the sentiment panel.

As you can see, there is a separate die for the red holly berries.  The sentiment is from Word Set 3- Holiday, and the little bows are from the Easter Charms.

Don't forget, this new release is available for pre-order now on the Karen Burniston website and will be shipping the first week of November.

Karen Burniston Designer Challenge - Tree

It's time again for the Karen Burniston Designer Challenge.  This month's theme is "TREE."    As Easter is right around the corner, I chose to make an Easter card -- using the Woven Basket as well as the Tree Pop-Up.  Before I added the leaves to the tree, I sponged them with a darker green distress ink while they were still in the die.  It gives some definition to each leaf this way.   Once the leaves were glued to the tree, I mounted the entire tree onto a piece of heavyweight acetate to make sure it would stand tall and not tip over.  The acetate is long enough that it goes to the bottom of the basket.

I filled the basket with some Spring Animals as well as tulips from the Garden Charms.  The sentiment on the front is from the Easter Charms.  I mounted it on a Crosshatch Oval die cut.

One feature of the Woven Basket that I really like is that, even though it's a 3-dimensional card, it folds flat for mailing.

This die is one of my favorite Karen Burniston dies.  I hope you like it as well.

Happy Easter Circle Charm

Today is Easter, and I have a happy little Easter card for you today.  I recently purchased the Karen Burniston Circle Charm Pop-Up die and used it, as well as several other KB die sets, to make this card.

Following the great video instructions Karen Burniston has on her website, I was able to construct this card with little or no trouble at all.  Yellow and purple always make a nice color combination for an Easter or spring card.   I cut the sentiment die with both colors and layered them.  Using several of the circle dies from the main die set, along with the Crosshatch Circles, I decorated the front.

The inside has the same purple gingham background, and the little chick rotated to the inside when the card is opened.  I used the butterfly which came with the Circle Charm Pop-Up, added the egg from the Easter charms along with the rabbit from the Spring Animals set.  The two rectangular panels were created with the Crosshatch Rectangle dies.   I've already sent this card to my sister (another Karen Burniston fan) and signed it on the right-hand rectangular panel.

Designer Challenge - Spring or Easter

This month's Karen Burniston Designer Challenge is to make a card depicting spring or Easter, incorporating the Easter Charms, Spring Animals, or Happy Spring into it.  I decided on Easter and wanted to incorporate "He is Risen" into my card.  I chose the Woven Basket Pop-Up die, which is my current favorite, and a cross (that I stamped and fussy cut) with that sentiment on it, as well as one of the dies in the Easter Charms set.

I decided that the cross needed a bit of support, so I slipped a piece of clear acetate behind it.  And, as you can see, the card will fold flat for mailing.

I very much enjoyed this month's Designer Challenge and thank you for stopping by my blog to see my card.
