St. Patrick's Day

Next week is St. Patrick's Day, and my Irish ancestors would be disappointed if I hadn't made a fun card to celebrate.  Karen Burniston has several accordion-type die sets, and one of my favorites is the Circle Tag Book Pop-Up.  I used it for my card today, but it's inside a standard A2 size card rather than a tag.  Almost all of the fun images on my card are stickers I found at Hobby Lobby.  I love this patterned paper from Creek Bank Creations -- both on the front and on the inside.

I attached the Circle Tag Book Pop-Up element on the inside of my card.

I cut holes in the two center circles so that you can see the stickers mounted behind the "accordion."

I added a few "puffy" shamrocks in there as well.

Designer Challenge -- ICYMI (In Case You Missed It)

For this month's Karen Burniston Designer Challenge we are revisiting a previous challenge -- any one of them!  In case you missed it, my card for the November 2019 challenge (Holiday Accordions) was celebrating Christmas.  For my new card, I am celebrating St. Patrick's Day and honoring my Irish ancestors.    Last year I did an Ancestry.com DNA test to see if there was something in my ancestry that I didn't know about.  Guess what!  There were NO surprises -- 42% Ireland/Scotland, 50% England/Wales, 8% other.  Anyway, here's my challenge card, using the Charm Accordion die and some fun Irish-related stamps.

Like my original card, I put a full panel on the front with the accordion following.

I have accumulated quite a few $1 stamps from Michaels; and, aside from the fun leprechaun on the front, all the stamps I used on my card are very inexpensive ones -- which shows that you don't have to spend a ton of money while still have fun creating.

There were no Irish-related charms in this die set, so I chose the stars to hang between the panels.  A closer look at the accordion shows them off.

My original Christmas card for November's "Holiday Accordion" Designer Challenge used a gingerbread man and the Karen Burniston Alphabet dies.  The only Irish word I knew that I could possible spell out on my new card was Eire (the Gaelic word for "Ireland"), so that's why I went in a new direction.  Another change I made was to have the charm panels line up rather than stagger them.

It's always fun to take an old idea and update it.  I hope you try it with one of your cards.  Check out how the rest of the Design Team handled this fun challenge by visiting the Karen Burniston Pop-Up Peeps page on Facebook and visit their blogs if you have the time.

CCEE1811 St. Patrick's Day/Green

This week Vicky asked the CCEE Stampers to celebrate St. Patrick's Day a bit early by making a card indicative of the holiday -- either a St. Patrick's Day card or one with green as the focal color.  My Irish ancestors would not forgive me if I didn't choose the first option.  I used a technique I haven't done in a while -- Retiform.  If you've never done this fun technique, here's a tutorial from Splitcoaststampers.

Be sure to visit the CCEE Stampers blog for some more green.

Stampin'B Challenge #50 - Monochromatic Green

NancyRuth was the hostess for the Stampin'B's challenge today. Her monochromatic green challenge came during the right week – St. Patty’s Day was yesterday. I hope the luck of the Irish was with you!

I must confess that I used Laura Fredrickson’s (scrapnextras) design for the basis of my card this week. When I saw what she had done with the new Flourishes’ set Irish Blessings, my Irish ancestors channeled me to get this set! Book lover that I am, I like the “book” look of Spellbinders Labels Seven. I cut out the shape using Mark’s Finest Papers Pensacola Sand Naturals and then sponged around the edge with Palette Landscape ink before removing the die. Then I stamped the sentiment and sprig of shamrocks, adding the ribbon and shamrock button. It's a pretty simple card, but it gets the message across.
