Greetings, Groove-ophiles! It's time for the grand finale of Roy Thomas and John Buscema's awesome adaptation of Edgar Rice Burroughs' Tarzan and the Jewels of Opar! The thing that makes this ish really stand out is that it's inked by "The New York Tribe" which is composed of Neal Adams (who also inked the cover), Tony DeZuniga, and various studio-mates. Any members of this incarnation of the "New York Tribe" out there who inked a figure, page, panel or whatever, chime in! The whole world has gotta know who did what! Meantime, the rest of us are gonna bop on back to the Spinner Rack of the Sensational and January 1978 for "Tarzan Triumphs!" from Marvel's Tarzan #11!

Marvel-ous Mondays: "The Deadly Peril of Jane Clayton" by Burroughs, Thomas, J. Buscema, and Alcala
Greetings, Groove-ophiles! Here we are with the penultimate chapter of Marvel's adaptation of Edgar Rice Burroughs' Tarzan and the Jewels of Opar! "The Deadly Peril of Jane Clayton" from Tarzan #10 (December 1977) was adapted by writer Roy Thomas (of course!), penciler/layout artist John Buscema (natch!), and finisher Alfredo Alcala (ooooooh!). (And no, you're not seeing things, we skipped ish #9--it's not part of TatJoO adaptation, aaaaaaand, it's posted right'chere if ya don't believe me!)
Oh, and for those of you who wonder about such things: Ol' Groove really dug The Legend of Tarzan! Saw it on the 4th of July!

Marvel-ous Mondays: "The Man and the Mangani" by Thomas, J. Buscema, and Mesina
Greetings, Groove-ophiles! Marvel's adaptation of Edgar Rice Burroughs' Tarzan and the Jewels of Opar continues in Marvel's Tarzan #8 (October 1977), 'cause ish #7 was a fill-in. Writer Roy Thomas and penciler John Buscema are joined by inker Rudy Mesina. Mesina, a Filipino master with a lush style that (to moi, at least) subtly evokes Alfredo Alcala at times, really gives Big John a different look from what we're used to. Check out "The Man and the Mangani" and let us know what you think of this artistic team...

Marvel-ous Mondays: "A Priestess...Yet a Woman!" by Thomas, Buscema, and DeZuniga
Greetings, Groove-ophiles! Marvel's Tarzan #6 (August 1977) focuses on the High Priestess of Opar, La, and her strange love for the Lord of the Jungle as Roy Thomas, John Buscema, and Tony DeZuniga continue their adaptation of Edgar Rice Burroughs' Tarzan and the Jewels of Opar. Today we are reminded that La is..."A Priestess...Yet a Woman!"
