Decent Comics: "World On the Edge of Ending" by Levits, Staton, and Geilla
"World On the Edge of Ending," Groove-ophiles? More like "Comic On the Edge of Ending!" The final issue of DC's All-Star Comics revival, All-Star #74, was its first-and-only DC Explosion ish, and man, did Paul Levitz, Joe Staton, and Joe Geilla make the most of the full 25 pages they were allotted! Remember that intriguing mystery Dr. Fate and Hawkman were digging into last ish? Well, it turns into a full-blown adventure that brings in a ton of JSA-ers and allows for some cool, small-group globe-trotting, too! And isn't that Joe Staton/Dick Giordano cover a-freakin'-mazing? Wow!

Decent Comics: "Be It Ever So Deadly..." by Levitz, Staton, and Geilla
Dig it, Groove-ophiles! Paul Levitz and Joe Staton are back with another Justice Society epic for All Star Comics #73 (April 1978)! Huntress vs. Huntress! Wildcat's life on the line! And a mystery deepens for Dr. Fate and Hawkman, which will lead to the next ish! The only downside for Teen Groove was that inker Bob Layton was gone and his replacement was Joe Geilla. Geilla's a master, to be sure, but his inks didn't compliment Staton's pencils (again, imo) and took the mag from looking modern and cutting edge (for the late 70s) back to looking like a Silver Age mag (no offense to the Silver Age meant...).

Black and White Wednesday: "How a Comic Is Created" Parts 1 and 2 by Paul Levitz
Dig it, Groove-ophiles! Ol' Groove's love for comics was always so strong that I always wanted to create 'em myself. I wanted to draw, write, everything--and eventually I did start making my own comics (on typing paper, natch). Eventually I got into self-publishing, and now I'm writing for lots of great small press comicbook publishers--and it all started with tutorials like these from Amazing World of DC Comics (issues 1 and 2). Pros like Paul Levitz gave us creatives-in-training the low-down on how things really worked, and to this day Ol' Groove appreciates and treasures articles like these...
