Groove's Faves: "The Man Who Murdered the Earth!" by Wein, Swan, and Anderson

Dig it, Groove-ophiles! With Superman #248 (December 1971), Len Wein, Curt Swan, and Murphy Anderson gave us an action epic featuring Superman, Lex Luthor, Lois Lane, and Lex's "latest" creation, The Galactic Golem! GG was a little bit cosmic, a little bit legend, a little bit Frankenstein's Monster--and a whole lot ugly! Prepare for..."The Man Who Murdered the Earth!"

Check it out, Groove-ophiles! The Galactic Golem's second appearance in Superman #258 is even cooler (imo) than his debut tale! Be on the lookout for it here on the Diversions...soon!

Random Reads: "Death Is My Dominion!" by Dorfman, Brown, and Anderson

Hey, hey, hey, Groove-ophiles! Ya know, Superboy didn't spend the Groovy Age truckin' it to the future to hang out with the Legion of Super-Heroes all the time. Sometimes he just hung around Smallville battling it out with his ex-pal Lex Luthor. You know, like in Leo Dorfman, Bob Brown, and Murphy Anderson's "Death Is My Dominion!" from Superboy #179 (September 1971). Dig it!

Ol' Groove's Request Line: "Luthor--You're Driving Me Sane!" by Maggin and Novick

What it is, Groove-ophiles! Fellow Groove-ophile Tony O. e-mailed yers trooly with some rally cool requests--the first of which was a request for one of the final three issues of DC's Joker mag! Yeah, there's an If You Blinked You Missed post waiting in the wings on that one, baby, but for now, just know ye that DC gave the Harlequin of Hate his own mag--though it only ran for a scant nine issues (February 1975-June 1976). As I said: more on that later, gator! Meantime, here's "Luthor--You're Driving Me Crazy!" from Joker #7 (February 1976) in which The Batman's greatest foe has a major run-in with Superman's greatest foe, Lex Luthor, courtesy Elliot S! Maggin, Irv Novick, and Frank McLaughlin! Dig it!
