Marvel-ous Monday: "Though Some Call It Magic!" by Conway, Colan, and Palmer

Greetings, Groove-ophiles! When Ol' Groove did the post for Astonishing Tales #8 featuring Ka-Zar last month, I didn't realize that we'd already tackled issues 9 (a fill in by Stan Lee and John Buscema) and 10 (the actual finale by Roy Thomas, Barry Smith, and Sal Buscema). (You can read #9 here and #10 here). To make up for the boo-boo, here's that Colan/Palmer Dr. Doom job from A.T. #8 that many of you have been clamoring for! Written by Gerry Conway, "Though Some Call It Magic!" is a beautifully illustrated look at Doom's magical side. No wonder so many of ya wanna see it!

Oh, yeah, did you catch the title for the next issue blurb? Does it sound familiar? Here's why:

MOKF Monday: "The Phoenix Gambit Part II: End Game" by Moench, Zeck, and Tartag

HiiiiiEEEYA, Groove-ophiles! Here's the cataclysmic conclusion to last month's MOKF Monday masterpiece, "The Phoenix Gambit Part II: End Game"! Creators Doug Moench, Mike Zeck, and John Tartaglione wrap up the cosmic chess game between Dr. Doom (!) and the Prime Mover, by pitting Shang Chi and company against a truckload of kung-fu baddies...I was gonna say you'll "get a kick out of it"...but I won't. Instead, I'll just shut up and say this one's from Master of Kung Fu #60 (October 1977) and let ya enjoy the show...

Making a Splash: Faves from Giant-Size Marvel, the Sequel

Dig it, Groove-ophiles! Nearly three years a go we rapped about some of the coolest, most beautifulest splashes we could find inside mighty Marvel's Giant-Size mags of 1974/1975. Well, those were definitely some of the best (click here to see 'em), but there's more from where those came from! Just plant your peepers on these smashing splashes!

Oh, man, can you ever dig it?
