About Me

A mythical beast - a female wargamer! I got back into wargaming in the summer of 2011 after a very, very long break and haven't looked back since. I must admit that I seem to be more of a painter/collector than a gamer, but do hope to correct that at some point in the near future. My gaming interests span the ages, from the "Biblical" era all the way through to the far future. I enjoy games of all sizes, from a handful of figures up to major battles (see my megalomaniacally sized Choson Korean and Russian Seven Years War armies).

AHPC XII 18th & 19th Entries - Barbarians and Pulp Adventures

My final two posts got published yesterday.

19th Entry - Operation Rescue Oscar Part 5

I've been taking things easy today. The only workbench stuff I have done is to clean my paintbrushes and airbrushes. Tomorrow my plan is to get everything out on the table to take some group photos.

AHPC XII 15th, 16th and 17th Entries - WW2 Japanese and Mega City One

I didn't do a Paint Table Saturday post yesterday for two reasons:

1. There were no WIPs to show; and

2. I was very busy setting up scenes, taking photos, resizing them and then writing posts for three submissions.

Those three submissions all got posted overnight (well, before I got up this morning - I had a long lie-in!).

16th Entry - Oscar's Dredd of Robots

I've got two more entries to take photos for this afternoon. There will be another post here for them tomorrow.

AHPC XII 13th & 14th Entries - Papuan Porters & Time Traveling Troopers

I had two small submissions published yesterday. We're now in the final week and it is "free fire" and I could in theory submit stuff and have it published every day. I do have five more posts, but they will all end up being posted next weekend as I am waiting on a vehicle to arrive and the SciFi terrain needed for two posts will take me a few days to finish up.

AHPC XII 11th & 12th Entries - I Scream for Ice Cream plus Cats & Dogs

I've had two entries published yesterday, both quite small in terms of points (35 and 21) but I've got bigger posts to come over the next two weeks.

AHPC XII 10th Entry - Early Imperial Romans

For my 10th submission, I painted up some 15mm Early Imperial Roman Legionaries and auxiliary archers to add to the force I painted up last year. I now have enough to filed the army for Art de la Guerre.

The post was published yesterday: linky-link

This was just a small entry, worth 84 points (plus the 6 bonus points Curt gave me for the hand-painted shields).

We're now into the final three weeks of the Challenge and I expect to be very busy - I think that I've got another eight posts to paint stuff for (some of it will appear in more than one post for story-telling purposes).

AHPC XII 9th Entry - WW2 Japanese Pt. 4

My original plan, made many weeks ago, was to do all the Japanese in batches of one squad plus some supports. Last week was meant to be the turn of the Grenade Discharger ("Knee Mortar") squad with the extra rifle squad to follow next week. Those of you who have read my last few posts know that I actually accelerated things and got all the remaining bits for my Japanese force painted.

I finished (just about - I realised afterwards that I'd missed a couple of details on the tank) the last bit of work yesterday, took photos and submitted the post yesterday.

The post was published last night: linky-link

I started work on next week's submission last night (no pics until my Wednesday Workbench post!). Once that is out of the way, I will have three weeks to focus on the *Secret Project*. OK, I think everyone knows by now that it is "Operation Rescue Oscar", but I'm not going to tell you what it involves. I will say that the SciFi buildings will be making an appearance - I'll be working on those over the next week or two in between painting figures so that they're ready for the post(s) they will appear in.

AHPC XII 8th Entry - Somewhere Near Arnhem

My 8th entry was posted yesterday evening, so you finally get to see the finished building diorama and British Airborne.

The post can be found here: linky-link

I'm a little surprised to find that I'm currently in 12th place on the points table.

AHPC XII 7th Entry - WW2 Japanese Pt. 3

My 7th entry in this year's Challenge was a continuation of my WW2 Japanese project. This time the third rifle squad for my core platoon, some snipers and a MMG team.

It was only when I went to add the photos here that I realised I hadn't taken a group shot of them, so you get individual pics!

MMG Team

Snipers

Rifle Squad

The post was published yesterday: linky-link

It includes the continuing Adventures of Oscar and the last (for a week or two) "Extract from the journal" for your entertainment.

AHPC XII 5th & 6th Entries - Mongols & Georgians; Crashed Starship

Both of my entries got posted yesterday.

15mm Mongol and Georgian Cavalry:

The post can be found here: linky-link

28mm Crashed Starship:

The post can be found here: linky-link

Both posts include continuations of "The Adventures of Oscar" and "Extract from the journal of TamsinP" for your entertainment.

I've started work on the next batch of figures. I'm alternating weeks - one week will be a chunk of WW2 Japanese; the next week will be something else.

I'm currently well ahead of schedule for achieving my 1300 points target, so if I finish a batch early, I can use the "spare" days to work on things for my final few entries.

AHPC XII 4th Entry - WW2 Japanese Pt. 2

My 4th entry got posted yesterday: linky-link

It consists of the second rifle squad for my Japanese core platoon:

A FOO Team:

and a Type 92 70mm Infantry Gun Team:

The post also includes two silly tales - the next installment of Oscar's time-traveling adventures and a return of "Extract of the journal of TamsinP: Time Traveler, Society Girl and Adventuress".

Work on my next two entries is progressing well; I'm hoping that both will be ready for Sunday.

AHPC XII 3rd Entry - 15mm Ancient Germans

I managed to finish the basing on the ancient Germans in plenty of time to submit them yesterday. They got posted last night: linky-link.

In terms of scoring, these have put me back on track for my target of 1300 points, making up for the lack of work done over the holiday period.

Unfortunately, I didn't manage to finish the Japanese in time to submit them yesterday - I was waiting for the basing to dry before matte varnishing them, but it didn't happen in time so I did the varnishing this morning.

AHPC XII 2nd Entry - WW2 Japanese

My 2nd entry in this year's Challenge was posted last night - linky-link. As well as the tanks, jump off points and officers I had managed to paint up a platoon sergeant and the first 13-man rifle squad for my Japanese.

I decided back before Christmas that I would start all of my submissions with "The Adventures Of Oscar: Time Traveler, Slayer of Squirrels and Very, very Good Boy". Mostly for my own amusement, but the story seems to have amused other people.

I've started work on my next submission. It's quite a lot of 15mm figures so it will be a push to get them finished in time to submit them for next Sunday.

Wednesday Workbench 22 December; Podcast; AHPC XII 1st Entry

Not much on the workbench right now - just one little tank that I've made a start on. If all goes well, I'll be finishing that next week once I get back home from Christmas with family.

I placed a couple of orders last week for the remaining bits I need for my WW2 Japanese. The first of those arrived today:

It was only after taking the photo that I spotted there had been a picking error - they'd sent me a Sniper & Flamethrower teams pack instead of a Forward Observer team. I've emailed them about that.

Podcast

We recorded another episode of the podcast two weeks ago and it was released last week, but I kept forgetting to post the link here. So here it is:

AHPC XII 1st Entry

Yesterday was day one of this year's Challenge and, as is my wont, I got a small entry submitted.

Three dogs painted as identically as possible, using photos sent by Curt to get the markings "right"(ish). These are one of his dogs, Oscar, whose brother Felix was painted by Curt last year. I've only claimed for two of them - the third will be included for scoring as part of another submission, but it made sense to paint them all at the same time.

Anyway, here's the link to the post: linky-link

Which just leaves me to wish you all a very merry Christmas!
