About Me

A mythical beast - a female wargamer! I got back into wargaming in the summer of 2011 after a very, very long break and haven't looked back since. I must admit that I seem to be more of a painter/collector than a gamer, but do hope to correct that at some point in the near future. My gaming interests span the ages, from the "Biblical" era all the way through to the far future. I enjoy games of all sizes, from a handful of figures up to major battles (see my megalomaniacally sized Choson Korean and Russian Seven Years War armies).

AHPC XII 5th & 6th Entries - Mongols & Georgians; Crashed Starship

Both of my entries got posted yesterday.

15mm Mongol and Georgian Cavalry:

28mm Crashed Starship:

Both posts include continuations of "The Adventures of Oscar" and "Extract from the journal of TamsinP" for your entertainment.

I've started work on the next batch of figures. I'm alternating weeks - one week will be a chunk of WW2 Japanese; the next week will be something else.

I'm currently well ahead of schedule for achieving my 1300 points target, so if I finish a batch early, I can use the "spare" days to work on things for my final few entries.

Finished: 15mm Foot Leaders for "Infamy, Infamy!"

I did mean to post these yesterday - you'll find out why I didn't later on.

As you can see, I have finally finished these foot leader figures for my Roman and German forces for "Infamy, Infamy!".

German Leaders and Characters

Roman Scorpion and Crew

Roman Standards and Cornicen

Optiones

Auxiliary Officers

Legionary Officers

When I was resizing the photos yesterday afternoon, there was something niggling away in the back of my mind, but I couldn't put a finger on what was wrong. It was quite late last night that it dawned on me - the Roman shield designs were wrong. I'd painted the legionary officers with the auxiliary foot design and the auxiliary officers with the auxiliary cavalry design.

A quick repaint later and the niggle was kicked into touch:

All these figures were 15mm from Donnington Miniatures.

Finished: Stewards and Mounted Leaders for "Infamy, Infamy!"

I did manage to finish the basing on these figures today, so my prediction of Saturday held true. I've also made a start on the dismounted leader figures (just the flesh base coat and wash so far).

Roman Leaders:

German Leaders:

German Stewards:

All the figures are 15mm from Donnington Miniatures.

The leaders on pill bases will be Status 3; the ones on oval bases will be Status 1 or 2.

Paint Table Saturday 07 November

It took me a little while (OK, about a week) to sit down and finish painting these leader figures, but that is exactly what I did today. Tomorrow I will varnish them and start the basing process - they should be finished on Monday.

As the basing process will have some quite long breaks while things dry, I should start work on the dismounted figures tomorrow. I'll do the flesh on them all, then work separately on the Romans and Germans.

Paint Table Saturday 31 October

I decided to take a couple of days away from painting figures this week, but have hit the brushes again today:

Back to front: Germans, Romans, Pack horses

I decided to start with the mounted leader figures and the pack horses for my "Infamy, Infamy!" forces. The pack horses and the chap on foot will form a "stewards" base for the Germans.

Wednesday Workbench 21 October

I have slowed things down a little over the past few days, but have still got things done.

First of all, I have prepped a bunch of individual figures from Donnington to add as leaders and "extras" to my "Infamy, Infamy!" forces:

As well as the "leaders" I also have a Scorpion and crew for the Romans and a civilian and two pack horses to make up a "stewards" base for the Germans (stewards act as a rallying point for the cavalry and as a resupply point for javelin armed troops).

I've also started painting some Copplestone "Near Future" figures - these will be another Citi Def group for Mega City One:

At the moment I am just putting down the base/shade colours; I will do the highlighting once that is done.

Finished: 15mm Scythian Commander and Cataphracts

It took me a few evenings longer than I'd thought to finish these off, but they're done now. This unit of cataphracts and the command base (added to the light horse I painted a very long time ago) will allow me to field a small Scythian ally with my Sarmatians. And it's only taken me six years to get them done!

Cataphracts:

Commander:

I'm not sure if it really shows in the pics, but these chaps all have some fancy freehand patterning painted onto their sleeves, trousers and the saddlecloths.

I've placed an order for the additional figures that I need for the Mongols, but it will be a while before they are ready for me to start painting them. Which means I'll have to work on something else until then. the big questions is "Sea Peoples or 6mm ACW?". You'll just have to wait and see which I decide to go with.

Edit to add:

Oooh! This was my 1100th post!
