About Me

A mythical beast - a female wargamer! I got back into wargaming in the summer of 2011 after a very, very long break and haven't looked back since. I must admit that I seem to be more of a painter/collector than a gamer, but do hope to correct that at some point in the near future. My gaming interests span the ages, from the "Biblical" era all the way through to the far future. I enjoy games of all sizes, from a handful of figures up to major battles (see my megalomaniacally sized Choson Korean and Russian Seven Years War armies).

100K Prize Draw - The Day 2 Winners

A bit later than planned as I was playing Saga at the club this evening. I didn't win, but had good fun with my Normans. I also spent a few minutes admiring my words on the printed page when I got home - my subscription copy of Miniature Wargames with Battlegames had arrived. Henry's done a marvelous job of laying out my words and photos.

"will you just shut up and get on with announcing the winners?"

OK.

First up - the GZG goodies of your choice. There were 128 entries from 37 individual followers. And the lucky winner was:

Well done Vladdd - proof that spamming the comments doesn't necessarily guarantee a win as you only commented once. Please send me an email (Kontactr link under the Postie's Rejects logo) and let me know what you want ordered (and your address for shipping them to).

Second up - the Baccus voucher. This was somewhat more popular, with 141 entries from 36 individuals. And the lucky winner of this one is:

Seb! When he commented, he very generously said that if he won he'd transfer the prize to someone else who had entered. So, for all you Baccus fans who had entered, now you know who to spam/bug/bribe/threaten/blackmail to get that gift voucher! Seb - let me know who the lucky person is please.

Well, there are three more prizes to be won so if you are interested in those don't forget to comment on the posts.

Midweek Update (no pics today folks!)

Just posting a quick update for you all.

Milton Keynes Campaign 2013

The Runners and Riders for the 15mm FoG:AM tournament have just been posted. On the website, it appears that myself and a team-mate have switched places and he is taking my Koreans and I'm taking his Byzantines. They've got it right on the Slitherine forum though, so it is probably a transcription error.

Funnily enough, somehow all 3 teams from Central London have ended up in the same pool for Saturday's games. I call shenanigans!

From the armies listed, it looks as though there will be lots of "civil war" games taking place.

Article for Miniature Wargames

This got sent to Henry today and he seems delighted with it. I'm now dreading the next issue being delivered.

Koreans

The commanders are almost done now - just need to dry-brush the basing gunk, spray them with matt varnish and flock the bases. I may add a couple of tufts as well.for these bases.

For the infantry there are just a few more painting steps to do. I should finish painting them tomorrow evening. I'm hoping that I'll have time to add the gravel and finish the basing as well.

Koreans - Singi Guard Cavalry

OK, they're finished. So that's all the cavalry done (until later this year when I do bow cavalry so that I can use them for FoG:R).

Lots of pretty piccies:

Kwang Gun Infantry and Commanders

I haven't got any further with these. I did take the infantry into work, but decided to work on the article for Miniature Wargames instead. I'll take the command stands in tomorrow as I might just be able to finish those over my lunch break.

I'll be doing some work on the infantry after posting this.

Sunday Update

Well, it's Sunday so it's update time.

Korean Singi Guard Cavalry

I've managed to finish painting them at last. They've taken a bit longer than I'd hoped but they're nearly done now. I just need to check them for any touch-ups that need fixing then give them a coat of Klear/ink. Tomorrow I'll stick them on their bases. I'll leave adding the basing texture until later in the week when I will know if I actually have time to do that.

Korean Commanders

I've been working on the four command stands for the past 2 days, doing little bits as a break from the cavalry. I'll continue doing that while I'm painting up the foot.

"Pieces of Eight! Pieces of Eight"

I've had 2 more deliveries of Piratical Plunder this weekend and had an email to let me know that my order from Rebel Minis has shipped. All the packs are of 8 figures, hence the sub-title I've used.

Some Marlburians from Essex Miniatures:

A goodly (badly?) crew of pirates from Peter Pig:

Markus - you'll be delighted to know that one of the poses in the "Pirate Characters" pack has not only a peg leg but also a parrot on his shoulder.

Miniature Wargames with Battlegames

Imagine my shock yesterday when I got a Facebook message from Henry Hyde asking me to email him about an article. Our exchange went something like this:

HH - Hi Tamsin, can I ask a huuuuge favour from you?  Could you dig out photos of you Swiss pikemen and do a write up of how you painted them?

HH - ....oh and I will need it by Friday at latest to go in the next issue.

Me - errmmm, maybe, but I'm in panic mode painting right now to get an army finished that I'll be using in a tournament next weekend so might not have the time....

HH - that's greeeaat Tamsin, you're such a star for agreeing to this. I'll look forward to getting your photos and musings.

TP - errmmmm, OK....

Well, how could I refuse an opportunity like this? So, on top of everything else I've got to do this week I will also be going through the pics I took of my Swiss pikemen, selecting ones to illustrate different stages of the process and doing a write-up. If you're at Campaign in Milton Keynes next weekend, pop over and say hello (even better - bring coffee) to the frazzled looking redhead in the FoG:AM tournament area!
