In a recent Sportlots auction purchase I got a miscut 1974 Topps Football Terry Bradshaw 470 Pittsburgh Steelers card for $2.25 + shipping. I thought I already had this card but it wasn't in my TCDB collection. It is now.

Vintage Ramskins 3 Feb - Part 1 Topps
This is part one of two posts of some Vintage RamSkins (Rams + Redskins = RamSkins) I got nine cards on 03 February 2012 from one sportlots seller I have dealt with before OK lets get on with the roll call.
First Up Here's Johnny! John Carson, not the late late-night talk show host but rather the Washington Redskin End.
Next up: 1959 Topps 15 Del Shofner - Rams Don't know what to say about this one.

1958 Topps 47 John Carson - Redskins
The cartoon on the back is hard to read. The answer to the question: "What is John Carson's nick-name?" - "Long John because he uses his height to catch passes". The cartoon shows a pirate reaching for a football pass.

The back's scratch off "Magic Answer" looks to be incomplete or it's an order for a Chinese restaurant.
OK so at first this card doesn't seem to fit because the player is in a previous team's uniform The Pittsburgh Steelers. 1969 Topps 111 Roy Jefferson - Steelers. Roy became a Redskin in 1971.

This next player has a solid strong name for a Tackle Rock.
1969 Topps 146 Walter Rock - Redskins
It's Rookie Time. From 1975 a player who would have his career cut short by a horrible leg injury Joe Theismann. Joe started his pro career in the CFL (Canadian Football League) on the Toronto Argonauts. Although this is Joe's Rookie Topps Card and Rookie NFL card it is not his TRUE Rookie card because he had a 1971 O-Pee-Chee Rookie Card when he debuted with the Argonauts. So Canadians are laughing at us silly American's thinking this is Joe's RC!
1975 Topps 416 Joe Theismann RC- Redskins
That does it for part one. The next post part two the conclusion is the Philadelphia Cards will be posted "tomorrow" in about two hours. Gotta love scheduled posting.

Some '60s & '70s Vintage Football
Here are some recent catches from the Bay:
1961 Topps 130 John Paluck Redskins
He reminds me of someone.....
| Actor David Leisure as Joe Isuzu Compulsive Lying spokesperson. |
1969 Topps 125 Roman Gabriel Rams
1972 Topps 3 - 1971 AFC Passing Leaders
| Bob Griese Dolphins/Len Dawson Chiefs/Virgil Carter Bengals |
1972 Topps 120 Terry Bradshaw Steelers Pro Action
1972 Topps 128 Roman Gabriel Rams Pro Action
1973 Topps 48 Mercury Morris Dolphins
1973 Topps 214 Nick Buoniconti Dolphins
Of course one of the questions that Dolphins collectors have to consider is Do you collect the 1972 Topps Dolphins cards or the 1973 Topps Dolphins cards to have the "Perfect Season Team Set"? As a Redskins fan I'll just leave that question up to the Phins phans and keep out of it.

1970 Topps Super Trio
It's been quite a while since I've added a post here, as a result I may have lost some followers. Not to worry those who are truly interested will follow and eventually find me I guess. Anyway back in January of this year (2010) I had gotten some cards from Ebay for nice prices. I don't recall exactly but I know they were no more than $10 a piece, I think they were $5 each give or take a few dollars. One of them I think was a few dollars more than the other two because of a second bidder, or higher starting price. To be specific I got Three Topps 1970 Super Football Cards:
06 Sonny Jurgensen Redskins
07 Deacon Jones Rams
16 Roy Jefferson Steelers
All three cards are in very nice shape. I recall back in the day I had the Jurgensen and maybe the Jones, but due to poor storage by a younger kid me they were in terrible shape. I don't recall what happened to them. I thought I had a few cards from this set still left, but didn't find them. Oh well.
The backs of these over sized cards are the same style as the regular issued cards. These cards are on a very sturdy cardboard stock so they are more than just regular "Tall Boys" which have been made in other years.
There are 35 cards in this subset and I just have these three as of now. I would like to get the others, and as usual for a cheap price, free or by trade.
