Card Of The Whenever: The Return?
Yes you guessed it I started this post on the 30th of the month with absolutely NO idea on what card(s) I was going to blab er BLOG about. This is always fun at the end of the month.
Hey I have a wacky idea. I'll revisit an old feature I just remembered I used to do on this blog... "The Card of the Whenever". Hmm lets see where did I put that logo?
This card is appropriate in many ways a childhood hero on a card from my childhood showing the hero in his childhood. How cool am I now?
The card is from 1972 Topps Baseball "Boyhood Photos Of The Stars" subset, card number 498 Brooks Robinson Baltimore Orioles. I got it for a whopping 25¢ from a Sportlots auction a few months back. I should hunker down on this subset, heck even the full set.
The card has offcentering problems most noticeable on the back.Monday, July 31, 2023
A Canadian Canvas Legend Cutie
Time for a quickie. This card came from sportlots from a quarter auction. It is an Upper Deck Tim Horton's card. Now I don't normally pursue Tim Horton cards mostly because they are Canadian imports and hard to find here in the US. Anyway here it is.

Terry Bradshaw 1974 Topps Slightly Miscut
In a recent Sportlots auction purchase I got a miscut 1974 Topps Football Terry Bradshaw 470 Pittsburgh Steelers card for $2.25 + shipping. I thought I already had this card but it wasn't in my TCDB collection. It is now.

Strive For '65 Saturday: Stormin' The Sportlots Castle
In a recent splurge of purchases from Sportlots I got more cards for my Strive for '65 set build, plus a few other years, but the bulk was the '65s. I ordered about 26 cards for the set from 4 different sellers with the cost per card ranging from 34¢ to $6.99 this round. Unbeknownst to me one of them was a duplicate (The Phillies Rookie Stars my previous one is in better condition as this one has writing on the back). Conditions ranging from good to excellent. Some of the cards I went for the cheap "good" condition to save some money and for a few of them paid the price as you will see. Those cards I will need to upgrade at some time, a few of them I can tolerate. ARGH and ACK. Usually I do pretty well with unseen poorer conditioned cards there. Then again I don't often lower to the "good" level. I probably will not from here on.
For those of you wondering YES I am STILL BUILDING THIS DANG SET. I don't have the luxury of having a huge blog fandom where you mention you are building a vintage set and within a few months or maybe even weeks BAM It's Complete. I'm lucky if I get one lousy offer to purchase one card for the set, let alone any freebies.

Strive For '65: Set The Wayback Machine To Last May/June
For those of you wondering YES I am STILL BUILDING THIS DANG SET. I don't have the luxury of being a huge fandom blog where you mention you are building a vintage set and within a few months or maybe even weeks BAM It's Complete.
The Latest Additions:
Thursday 27 May 2021:
Now for the backs even though the dupe is better centered it has some pen markings on it and is a bit faded or dirtied. Must have been in more shoeboxes than the original.

Checking Off Some Sportlots First 2022 Sportlots Order
I got some cards from a couple of Sportlots Auctions from two sellers one was in Canada but the cards came fairly quickly as if they were the US. The first Sportlots order for this year 2022. A couple of them were vintage checklists. One unmarked and one partly marked on the back. Plus a couple of 1972 Topps Baseball "Boyhood Photos Of The Stars" (one I apparently have a duplicate of because I already had a scan of it). Anyway you want to see the cards not read by blabbering.
