CK42 Trade Post: It's Baaaaaaaaaack

 CK42 TRADE POST:
It's Baaaaaaaaaack
30 Sep 2018
Trade Info Master Want ListTrade ListWhat I Collect

OK so this series has never really left in the first place. I just needed some catchy post title. I'm not sure what all will be included in this post, so read on to see what ended up on it.

New Offerings:
Yeah that says what it means.

First up two 6 packs  ALL 11 packs SOLD on Ebay $1 per pack of 2018 Leaf Draft Football 5 cards per pack. These Draft sets are usually of the current NFL draft class players shown in their college uniforms with some stats info but are usually printed up before the actual draft so they never have the NFL team that drafted the players on the cards if the player was even drafted. That is one of the reasons I don't like the brand I have never been a prospector. Unfortunately for me these packs are usually included in those Fairfield repack boxes that I like to get at Target.

Next another pair of 2 packs 1990 Collegiate Collection: Notre Dame Football 1st Edition Football  8 cards per pack. This set has some NFL greats as seen in their college days with the Fightin' Irish. For sale $2 per pack Up On Ebay. Both packs sold on Ebay after I dropped the price to $1.50

Previous Offerings:

Trading Thursday Posts:
A Set and Singles: 1993-94 Classic Draft Basketball
The Return?: 2015-16 Donruss Basketball from pack pulls
This One is on Eleven: Basketball, Football and Non-Sport tall boy sized
A Fifth of February: Mixed bag of Baseball, Basketball and Football
Experiment Number One: 3 cards total 2 hockey relics, 1 baseball auto
CFL Trading: 2015 CFL Football cards from a single box break

The cards listed in this series of posts are for trade or sale. If I don't mention a price feel free to give a reasonable offer. In some cases I might just feel like giving the cards away to a good home that will appreciate them. Not that I don't appreciate them, but the cards I list no longer fit into the scope of my collection. I don't "trash" cards anymore. It makes me cringe when I hear people talking about throwing trading cards into the garbage. If I can't find a home for cards I no longer want, I will have to toss them into the recycle bin. I can't have them cluttering up my trading card hoard.

Trading Thursday: A Set And Singles

 TRADING THURSDAY:
26 Jan 2017
A Set And Singles
Updated: 02 Jul 2017

This will be the last "Trading Thursday" post from now on I'll post on whatever day I choose and call it CK42 Trade Post" if I give a post a special title. The new title doesn't have the silly alliteration I like to use for series post titles but what the heck.  I will set up a static page that links to the individual posts. My Blog My Rules!

I had been toying with the idea of making more frequent Trade posts and not limiting myself to just posting on Thursdays. This way I get more of my trading fodder known to the handful of readers I get here.  Actually I've been witnessing freakishly large page visit counts recently for both my card blogs, my regular non-card blog is still only getting a few visitors, some days making a record number of visitors, but mostly the usually expected very little traffic. These card blogs though. Maybe I'm finally doing something right, or got put on some traffic increasing Internet train.

This Week's Offerings:
Yeah that says what it means.

Sometime a while back I got a bulk ton of Basketball Cards. They were mostly the typical last few years and the Overproduced 1990s years. I think it was a purchase from a forum. The large box that arrived had several smaller boxes among the goodies were 1993 Classic Draft Picks Basketball. Enough cards to make 2 complete sets, with a lot of duplicates. I am not huge on Draft cards mostly due to the guys who never get drafted and will remain unknown throughout time. There are only a hand full of cards from the set I wanted anyway. I have two complete 110 card sets available plus duplicates of many of the cards, not all obviously since I could only make 2 full sets.

My Loot from the Shoebox Draft

I mentioned a post or two ago that I had received cards from a card draft held by Shoebox Shane. I think all the other participants have shown their share of the collector's booty from his draft. Some of these cards I will mention in greater detail (and probably show their backsides as well) but later, and for the Nationals cards those will eventually show up at my Curly W Cards Blog. For now I will simply list and show, show and list. EEK I'm Listing? How on Earth will I ever straighten up?

Pssst Someone is having a contest.

And it isn't me.

Over at Shoebox Legends a contest/giveaway is in the making. The old Shoebox is getting a cleaning out so he is having a limited draft. Checkout the details at the Shoebox Legends Card Closet Clean-out Draft. The limit is to the first 10 maybe 12 people that comment to be let in. Sounds like fun but it is filling fast as I right this Monday night it is half filled.

Coveted Ten Cards

OK I'm giving into peer pressure here. Other bloggers have a list of their most desired cards, their "White Whales", their "Elusive Eight" or what-not. Each blogger uses a different term for them to try to make their list unique. I think one blogger may have made a challenge ages ago and set  a trend for card bloggers to help out with these lists by sending another blogger one of their listed cards gratis. These are lists of the cards they are currently looking 'near and far', 'high and low' for. For some they have been looking for these cards to complete a set, or fulfill some collecting desire for many many years. For some it maybe only the last couple of hours because they discovered a new set to seek.

I am joining this Qard Quest. I've decided to make it a Top Ten, I could have made it a small five or perhaps a dozen or a large 20, but 10 I think is just about right for this thing. I'm calling it "CaptKirk42's Coveted 10". OK maybe I'll think of a better name later on, but I wanted use some kind of alliteration with the title.

I will try not to make this a list of all super expensive very hard to get vintage cards because then I would never be able to update and change the list. I'm not even sure what my real top ten most hunted are at this particular moment. The list will start off in no particular order, but as I get cards from the list I will remove the one I got and add a new card to the bottom of the list. That way eventually they will sort of be in a most desired order of preference. For now they will mostly be baseball as that is the sport I most collect and my checklists are more updated on.

One card I could add to this list is the infamous 2012 Topps Series 2 - 661 Bryce Harper Nationals Super Stupidly Stymieing Short-Print Card. (or even the 2012 Topps Archives 241 Bryce Harper Nationals ALSO Stupid Short Print) I want to add it and maybe one day will, but at this time I don't think many collectors would part with it for free or for a very reasonable price. Even before it was printed it was being pervertedly overpriced in the $hundred$ and those who are fortunate enough to pull one from a pack if they don't want it for their collection just see Dollar signs and toss them up on Ebay for Thousands or at least a minimum of hundreds. Sometimes it really sucks being a Nationals fan when they have had the number one draft pick for a ton of years in a row and the guy is a Super Phenom.

Another card I could put on the list  but is probably too valuable for some is the 1982 Topps Baseball Traded 82T  Cal Ripken Jr. RC Orioles.

I'm curious if the 2008 Topps David Wright with Mr. Met is a real card or one of those blogiverse custom jobs. i thikn it was a real one for the Topps Education program thing they did for retail stores. If it is a legit card then I also want that one.

Here is the Inaugural list:

  1. 1968 Topps Baseball Game Insert 5 Harmon Killebrew Twins (To upgrade my current copy that has a black X marked on the back that bleeds a little through to the front)
  2. 1970 Fleer Laughlin World Series 4 Tigers vs. Cubs 1907 WS
  3. 1962 Topps Baseball 88 Ralph Houk MG Yankees (Yogi Berra in Background)
  4. 1975 Topps Baseball 220 Don Sutton Dodgers (thought I had it but just have the mini)
  5. 1973 Topps Baseball Baltimore Orioles Team Blue Checklist card (unmarked)
  6. 2011 UD Goodwin Champions 89 Alexander Ovechkin (Hockey)  Capitals
  7. 2008-09 UD Legends Masterpieces Hockey 86 Mario Lemieux Penguins
