Little Cat Feet
"The fog comes on little cat feet. It sits looking over the harbor and city on silent haunches, and then, moves on." - Carl Sandburg

Shaggy and his littermate brother Scooby came to live with us in October 2005, when they were 5 years old. Scout arrived in 2006 at the age of 6 weeks. Scooby passed over very suddenly to the Rainbow Bridge on April 1, 2012 and is remembered fondly and missed deeply.

Shaggy's Home
Hi everyone! Mom here.
Shaggy is home after a full day at the vet. He is tired and kind of woozy so he wanted me to report tonight to his blogging cat friends.
I dropped him off this morning at 8 am and he had his procedure done at 9:30. He came through just fine with no extractions and very little gum bleeding. The doctor also removed the 3mm cyst that was growing on his neck. They used some fancy laser like thing and it came off cleanly, needing no stitches or glue to close the site. They shaved about a 1" square patch around the site, but because of all his poofy floofy fur you have to dig down to find it.
He came home at 4:30 tonight. Still tired and kind of groggy, but he ate a bit of wellness canned food. Then he went to lay by his water dish. I put him in his litter box & he tinkled for me. I can't find him right now. I think he went to find a dark quiet place to rest. Probably in the basement.
All the cats were hissing and growling at one another at first. Shaggy wants Scooby & Scout to keep their distance and they are curious and want to sniff him. Scooby missed his brother terribly today, wandering from room to room, upstairs & down looking for him.
So all is well, and I expect him to be back to his fat, lazy, loveable self again tomorrow.

V-E-T Tomorrow
I have to have my teeth cleaned! Oh the humiliation. Oh the injustice. This just wouldn't happen to a natural cat out in the wild. Ever see a mighty lion, king of the beasts, which I resemble, with a toothbrush and minty fresh breath? I didn't think so!
Then while that's going on, they're going to take off that cyst off my shoulder I told you about before. Mom said they're gonna give me a stabby thing and make me sleepy and relaxed. Then the devilish ghouls go to work on me.
Oh why can't they just leave me alone with my stinky goodness and sunny patches? -Shaggy

Hangin' Out
Here's me & Scout (on the chair) just hanging out on a lazy quiet day here at home. Mom took this picture from across the room from "her chair" where she reads & surfs & stuff. This room is called the sunroom but somedays there isn't any sun in there. Can't figure that out.
I was sitting on the table looking at the guinea pigs (you can see their cages to the left), and that table is good to look out the window at the doggie next door.
The whole room is windows so we spend lots of time there looking at birds & squirrels & bunnies. Sometimes a deer comes in the night too.
Mom's having a rough day. Her ankle is hurting real bad. She broke a filling over the weekend and went to the dentist to get it fixed today and she's getting that cold all the humans seem to be getting. It must be hard for people to get old. -Shaggy

Scout the Helper
Well mom taked some pictures of me being her best little helper. She keeps the tops of the cages on all the time becasue she says she doesn't trust me alone.....but when it's cleaning time, off come the tops & in I go! The piggies aren't even afraid of me. They don't like it when I sometimes twap them on the heads but they are real friendly and come over to sniff me. I like to climb into the cages when the shavings are fresh and lie down in them.
The piggies will come up to inspect me & sometimes I'll lick their heads. That scares them so they scamper away.
We have three cages. One with "the girls" Georgie, Miss Emma & Sasha. Another with Little Bo (he's the all white one) and T.T., and one with just Sid in it.
Mom says it strange how Scooby & Shaggy pay no attention at all the the piggies. And she was worried at first that I was thinking "snack". Maybe I was at first, and maybe I still am, but thats for me to know. Anyway, mom takes no chances with me, she says I'm still young and impulsive and that the tops of the cages stay on.

A Shower of Gifts
We won the contest to name Oreo's cousin, also known as Little Kitty No Name. We didn't even know it was a contest when we gave him the name Newton, after Fig Newton's. Well his daddy Casey must have liked the name so much that he picked ours out of all the awesome names that were sent in!
Looky! We gotted a favorite treat Tuna DeliSlices treats. Shaggy wanted to eat those right away, so mom gave him a couple pieces. We gotted toys too! A tuxedo jitter mousie, and a mousie door hanger and a bungee door hanger. We had a bungee door hanger just like that until last week when mom sucked it into the vacuum monster. She pulled it out but the feathers were all burned up and the bungee stuff was ruined. So we gotted another one! How cool is that! And not to leave mom out, she gotted a neat book of devotions and a package of Fig Newtons to eat while she reads! Which she does alot. Read, I mean. And eat.
You know what else? The wrapper that the box camed in is also way fun to play with! It's crinkly! What a special day today was! -Scout

Mom's Not Mad At Me
Hi all!
Thanks for the comments on the last post I made and for all the nice thoughts for mom.
I wanted to let all you cats know that mom is not mad at me. She blames herself 'cause she says shes been a clumsy oaf lately.
Mom's actually been walking on the ankle for a few weeks.
She thought it was a sprain, so she didn't bother going to the bean v-e-t. But for the last week the pain has been getting worse, not better for her so she figured she better have it looked at. That's when she went in Friday and the doctor found the fracture.
So wish her luck tomorrow. She will see the bone man and find out what they can do. She just wants the pain to stop. It's hurting pretty bad tonight.
What do you all think of my poofy floofy belly? It's nicer than a smelly foot. -Shaggy

I'm Sorry Mom
I'm sorry mom.
I didn't mean it.
Really.
I didn't mean it.
I just get underfoot sometimes.
I'm so big I just can't move very fast.
And I'm quiet.
Sometimes you just don't know I'm there.
But you gotta take some of the blame yourself Mom. You should look before you move.
THEN YOU WOULDN'T HAVE TRIPPED OVER ME & BROKEN YOUR ANKLE!

Next Door Kitty
He lives next door to us. He's about 10 years old.
We don't like him cause he's a hissy, growly kitty. Shaggy really wants to rumble with him. He's a mean fellow. He once tangled with a raccoon and won. The fur on his back is all ratty 'cause it got torn up and didn't heal properly from that fight.
He's pretty much an outside kitty, but he goes into his house if he can make it.
If his people are around that is. Sometimes they forget to check at night to let him in and he spends all night in the cold. Or they will go on a trip & just leave him outside to fend for himself. Mom says they are very irresponsible people. She has talked to the lady of the house but she just says "oh he likes it outside".
Mom made a nest box under our deck so he can have someplace sheltered to go if he needs to get out of the weather. Thank goodness it's been a mild winter so far. But he does use it.
Mom will feed him if she sees him around. Sometimes he's so hungry he will come running when he sees her. He's really looking thin this winter.
She would like to pet him more but she can just stroke him lightly and rub his head or he will turn on her & hiss, spit, growl and try to bite her. But it's not his fault. He lives a rough life and doesn't trust people much. Plus he probably has pains from some of his fights.
Even if we don't especially like Tiger we are sorry he has to live like that.
We have all we could ask for and more.
We are so thankful to be loved, sheltered and well fed.

Basking in the Sun
The sun came out today!
We sat on this couch in front of the window all afternoon just enjoying it.
The windows face the front yard so we can see all kinds of stuff outside. There are bushes in front of the window and lots of sparrows going in & out of them to watch. We can watch people coming and going from their houses and the ups brown truck man make his deliveries. And we can watch for that pesky next door cat who comes into our territory all the time.
Oh, we hope the rest of you kittycats get some sun soon . It is just as fabulous as we remembered! Even better!

Mom's Flowers
Mom says it is an "am-a-rill-us".
But we say it is "bee-you-tee-full". -Scooby

Can We Rest Now?
Sheesh! It's been way too busy around here, and at all the other cats houses that we visit on the computer. First, Thanksgiving with all the turkey and food & football for the people. Cook & clean, cook & clean.
Then this frenzy they call Christmas! They're coming & going at all hours, eating like they don't know where their next meal is coming from. Shopping till they drop. Upsetting our schedules. Not feeding us on time (we could starve right in front of them & they probably wouldn't notice they were so busy)! Decorating our house with all these things they tell us not to touch, including that inside tree.
Then comes the New Year. Old Year was perfectly good, but mom says she needs a fresh one.
This week was our boy John's 21st birthday which you saw on the last post. More cooking, wrappping paper and celebrating. There's all this talk that John is now "legal". We wonder what made him illegal. Maybe he got his shots. We get a new tag for our collars to show we are legal for the year and that we had our boosters..........?
That's enough disruption around here. Lets all settle down and pay attention to us cats, and feed us on time!!
And bring back the sun! I want to warm my bones in a sun patch!
-Scooby
