Little Cat Feet

Shaggy and his littermate brother Scooby came to live with us in October 2005, when they were 5 years old. Scout arrived in 2006 at the age of 6 weeks. Scooby passed over very suddenly to the Rainbow Bridge on April 1, 2012 and is remembered fondly and missed deeply.

Hi Toby! How Have You Been?

Hi everybody!
Toby here.
Some of you newer bloggers probably don't know that there are 3 of us guinea piggies that live with Scooby, Shaggy & Scout.
I'm one & a half. I'm also a handsome, pure white male as you can see!
There are two females here too, but they are grannie pigs ages 5 & 6.
The ladies live together, but I have my own bachelor pad.
I love my nightly run on the floor. Mom puts me down when she freshens the pine shavings in my cage. I love to run and work off all my extra energy.
Scout likes to watch me. None of the cats chase me, we all get along. Mom says it's because I don't act like prey. I'm bold and will come right up to the cats and touch noses or try to bite their tails.
We are all rescued piggies who would not be here today if mom hadn't brought us home.
There have been probably 10 guinea pigs here before us, all rescues. There have been some sad posts during the nearly 5 years of this blog as one by one they went to the bridge to nibble grass in the warm sunshine. Mom says each one of us is special, and each one has his or her own unique personality.
Even though I make Mom sneeze and itch a little, she holds me on her lap, scritches my ears and tells me how special I am! Then she gives me carrots. That's the best part. Carrots.

How To Score A Comfy Bed

I stole Shaggy's green circle bed!
It's at the end of a couch and I saw him napping in it. He's there every day, it's his favorite place.
I jumped up and started rassling & giving him the bitey. He hates to have his naps disturbed like that, so he always jumps down & runs away and I can take over the bed.
Nice & pre-warmed too.

New Box

Mom got a new hot air blower thingy to put her feet on while she sits in her chair to read.

I got the box!

Tuesday Newsday

Mom is still sick.
It's in her chest and she might have to go see the doctor to get over it. She has asthma and when stuff goes into her chest, she usually needs aunti-biotics to kick it. Is that like auntie Carol? She's a nurse.
Dad was supposed to go back to work yesterday after being on medical leave for two months from his surgery, but he had to call in sick, 'cause he's got it too! He went in today though. It's still a struggle for him on his crutches.
To cheer mom up, I horked up a good sized slimy hairball in the middle of the hall for her to find when she got up today.
For some reason, that didn't cheer her up.

Early Breakfast

Mom abandoned her fall de-cluttering project because she is sick. Her head is heavy and her chest is sore. She's planning to nap all day.
She wasn't too happy that I kept pestering her at 4 am for early breakfast. She shut me into the spare room.
Then Shaggy started on her at 6 am so she knew she wouldn't get any rest until she fed us.
When she set me free, Shaggy & I almost tripped her running to the kitchen. Scooby was already waiting there. He always makes us do the work while he sits by the food cupboard.
We all got early breakfast and mom got to sleep until 9. She should be grateful to us, right?

Fall Cleaning

I'm tired out.
Mom's had a rare burst of energy and started clearing out clutter & trying to sort out the stuff that's in piles all over the place, like books and magazines and clothes.
She loves her books but there isn't room for them all. Maybe she'll just buy a new bookcase instead.
She sorted out her fat clothes for donation to Goodwill. She's lost 30 pounds this year and is a M instead of an XL now.
As you can see in the picture, I'm still an XXL cat.

Golden Leaves

Here's the Crimson King maple in our back yard a few days ago. Look! Rare sunshine and a clear blue sky!
It's also home to our resident pesky squirrel who jumps from that tree to the one you see to the right and from there on to the roof.
Then he proceeds to scamper back & forth jumping to a tree in the front of the house and then back again. Our roof is a regular squirrel highway for that dude. He's been real busy this fall, burying stuff all over the yard and man has he plumped up big with winter fat lately! He has a super long floofy tail too and he waves it at us, while he chatters squirrel obscenities.
He'd be a tasty morsel indeed. He'd probably feed the three of us, and leave leftovers.

Pre-Winter

Halloween is over. Now it's November.
Mom calls this pre-winter. It doesn't seem like autumn anymore but it isn't quite winter.
Scooby rode Halloween out by hiding in the beans bedroom.
Scout & I tried to be cool about it, but every time that doorbell rang, we couldn't help but freeze in our tracks and get saucer eyes. Mom kept saying it's ok, but then there were strange little goblin things at the door yelling and that was even more disturbing. Almost as bad as when a repairman or cable man comes. *shudder*
Very windy today, so alot of the leaves are getting blown down from the trees.
We get restless when its windy like this, so today we hunker down and nap it all away.
