Little Cat Feet

Shaggy and his littermate brother Scooby came to live with us in October 2005, when they were 5 years old. Scout arrived in 2006 at the age of 6 weeks. Scooby passed over very suddenly to the Rainbow Bridge on April 1, 2012 and is remembered fondly and missed deeply.

I Love Boxes

I love boxes.

A good box is where a mancat can really relax and do some serious thinking.

I gave this new box from Amazon that mom got books in a try, but it pinched a little.
So it was back to my old tried and true beer box.
I like it so much Mom & Dad agreed to keep it for me. -Scout

Mars

Here is our neighborcat Mars.
He has a tendency to sneak out of his house without his people knowing it. They have two big dogs and he gets out when the woofies get wild around the door looking for attention or heading out on their walk.
He's a geezer cat and very skinny as you can see.
Last week when the extreme heat and humidity started he was on our doorstep.
This isn't unusual, because mom has been known to give out treats and good scritchies so he hangs out here, meowing and rolling around looking for the good stuff. Mom went to the grocery store and ran errands and a couple hours later he was still there. It was really, really, really hot and mom realized this was the day both his people were at work .
So she invited Mars in, gave him Fancy Feast and let him stay in our cool house until his careless people got home that evening. They loved him all up and were very thankful.
We don't mind him coming in, he's gentle and harmless.
As you can see he loved our nip nanner.

Vishus Deer!

There we were outside minding our own business last week when out of the trees across the street stepped a young deer! the trees connect to a wetlands area and deer in the neighborhood are a common sight.

This was around 2 in the afternoon. It's common to see them in the early morning or late night, but never in the daytime. Maybe this one did not have a mom to tell it what deers need to know.

This one stared at us, drooled a bit and licked it's chops but settled for munching on the leaves of that bush.

NIP!

Mom got us some fresh nip.
She can't seem to figure out how to grow it fresh so we have to settle for the store nip.

It's pretty good anyways, but not as potent.

She also got some nip spray which is more concentrated. She sprays that on our toys.

This jar of nip even came with a toy in it!!

Today is a hot hot day. 96 as we write this. Very high tropical humidity makes it pretty uncomfortable to go outside.

We have lots of mosquitos in these parts and today Mosquito Control is out spraying in their helicopter. They've been passing over our house and swooping down to the nearby pond and wetlands dropping pellets that supposedly stop the hatch cycle. We say supposedly because there are always tons of skeeters anyway. We had lots & lots of rain lately so a new batch will be hatching soon.
We'll just stay inside with our nip!

It's Our Blogoversary!

6 YEARS!

The blogosphere was a smaller place in 2005.
Our fearless leader Max the Psychokitty was there of course and William is still blogging strong, but there were also kitties named Timothy Dickens, Oreo, Edsel and Mia & Ghost who were our first friends. Also Larry of Catifornia who was the Purrsident of the CatBlogosphere in the beginning. Larry was a big awesome ginger cat and a great friend. He was also a real model who did ads for his local grocery chain.
So many friends, both old and new.
It's hard when kitties go off to the Rainbow Bridge, but we all pull together and support each other and that's the magic of our Blogosphere.

Hang out with us today!
Celebrate our Blogosphere and all the friendships old and new we have here.
Mom bought a fresh jar of nip and a bottle of nip spray and we have noms; ham, tuna, stinky goodness (a term Max coined, by the way), and real live fresh dead shrimp (again, Max!!)
Lift a toast to friendships with some tuna joose, niptinis, meowgaritas or milk.

We're bringing out all our toys, trackballs & cat dancers, squiggles, cubes, boxes and kitty beds. Kitty beds? Who has time to nap? A round of Thundering Herd of Elephants (Max, again) starts every hour on the hour. Visit the sunroom and watch for squirrels from the big windows.
There's tub hockey in the hall bathroom, hide & seek and bug hunting in the basement. Speaking of the basement, Dad just installed a new shower and it echoes real good so if you like to hear yourself sing, go in it and yowl. You won't be disappointed. How about a shower yowling contest!
Zolie invites you to join her outside and she'll show you her hunting techniques with voles and chippys. No lizards but lots of dragonflies out there. They make a great protein snack on the wing. Crunchy too. And you can play with then before you nom them!
PARTY TIME!

Keeping Cool

Before the people stuck a crowbar in their wallets and turned on the central air it was getting pretty hot in the house.

We were seeking out the coolest places to sleep to try to find some relief from the heat and humidity.

The tile floor in the bathroom for Shaggy and the sink for Scout.

Greedy Scout wouldn't share the sink and mom wouldn't turn on the water drip for me so I ended up going down the the basement.
It's always cool down there, but I seem to be the only cat that remembers that.

It's Summer

Hmmmm.
Well, what be happenin' around here?
Mom is still trying to de-stress from her trip to pack up grandma's things.
She's doing a lot of napping and trying to read but can't seem to concentrate on anything other than short stories. She's reading classic Ray Bradbury right now. She's also reading stoopid ladies magazines. She says they are perfect because they are mindless.

Dad has this whole week off and is spending it on every golf course he can get to.
Mom says if dad's happy, she's happy. She appreciates the solitude, actually.

The weather is finally summer-like. The windows are open and all the summer smells and sounds come in. We haven't caught the chippy that lives under the steps yet, but we will.
