Little Cat Feet
"The fog comes on little cat feet. It sits looking over the harbor and city on silent haunches, and then, moves on." - Carl Sandburg
About Me
- Name: Shaggy and Scout
- Location: Twin Cities, Minnesota, United States
Shaggy and his littermate brother Scooby came to live with us in October 2005, when they were 5 years old. Scout arrived in 2006 at the age of 6 weeks. Scooby passed over very suddenly to the Rainbow Bridge on April 1, 2012 and is remembered fondly and missed deeply.

Vet Visit Today
We saw our v-e-t Dr. Rich today.
That's his name, not a statement of his personal wealth.
We both have good teeth, heartbeats & innards because he didn't find anything when he did the belly squeeze.
Scooby is doing great, he weighs the same as he did last time,
BUT........
I have gone from a large 18 pounds to an enormous 21 pounds and it is prescription diet time. A strict measurement every day and that's all I get. Mom will measure 1 & 3/8 cup into a bowl and put it down for me several times a day and take it up and cover it when I'm done each time. She can't leave it down because Scooby & Scout will get into it and they are fine eating their usual food along with some canned. They free feed and know when they are full and to quit eating, even if it's just a couple bites. Mom puts it up on the counter for them, because they can jump & I can't.
I'll need to go back in a couple months for a weigh in and food adjustment if necessary.
We tried the all canned diet but it just didn't work for me, Scooby didn't gain but I sure did.
My metabolism has gone wacky & I don't want to get diabetes or heart problems or anything else that goes along with being obese. She got 3 cans of the prescription canned food and can substitute a spoonful of that if she subtracts some of the kibble.
Mom's been on a diet since December and has lost nearly 20 pounds and two pants sizes so she says now we can do it together. Maybe then I will be able to fit through the entry hole of Scouts play cube.

Toby Gets to Run
He said it's about time he made another guest appearance on the blog, so we said ok.
Toby likes to stand on the top of his igloo and look at whats going on around him and to beg for fresh fruit or veggie treats.
He also likes to get lifted out and have a run on the floor for exercise. Mom will let him run when she cleans out his cage, or if he really looks pitiful and is begging to get out. Which is every day.
As you can see, we just leave him alone when he's out, even though he likes to try to nip our tails and climb on us. We just like to watch him as he goes about his exploring.
Only it sounds like "squee, squee, gweek, gweek, gweek!"
In the picture with Shaggy, (Scooby is in the upper left corner) Toby is paying a visit to the females cage. He keeps trying and trying to figure out how to get in there and pay his respects to Emma Sue and Sasha.
When male piggies get "excited" about females they let off a musky scent that is really rather foul smelling. Mom asked the girls if that smell attracts them, and they said "You gotta be kidding." Then they dove for cover into their own igloos. Mom does not let Toby get any closer. The "girls" are elderly ladies, with no interest in a young whippersnapper with questionable body odor.
A little more running and visiting and then it's time for Toby to go back to his cage to snuggle on fresh pine shavings and have a little treat of parsley or a slice of apple and a fresh handful of timothy hay.
He's a darling little piggie and we are happy he is a part of our family.

Prizes from Millie
First, I gave the package a good sniffing-over. It's come a long way. All the way from New Hamster.
Shaggy came over to check it out too.
Ok, enough sniffing! Let's get it open!
There were yummy, yummy things in there!
Temptations!!! We've never tried this flavor before.
And Millie's mom sent some locally made chocolates for our mom.
She started in on her treats right away.
We had to wait.
Harummph.
Thanks Millie & Mom!

Scout
Here is another place I like to nap.
Can you tell I have been interrupted from napping, again!
This is the back of Moms chair in the sunroom.
She doesn't have the screens on the windows yet, even though its been warm enough. It's great to sit here with the window open.
This window looks out onto our deck and a big tree where that stoopid annoying squirrel lives.
Sorry, we had to turn on the word verification thingy.
We've been getting some annoying spam lately.

The Easter Miracle
These were taken a couple weeks ago, but it's close enough to Easter to qualify and it is definitely a miracle!
Scooby normally will not let Scout get within three feet of him. He will hiss and move away. He just isn't fond of Scout at all! Scooby & I are littermates and almost 9 years old. Scout is almost 4. Scooby says Scout is an annoying little interloping twerp. Scout of course loves to challenge Scooby whenever he can.
Well, two days in a row they were caught napping together! Both times Scout found Scooby napping and jumped up to join him. And Scooby tolerated it! Wonder of wonders!

More Napping Places
Since I've been showing you all my favorite napping places, here's another one.
My pop up cube from our buds Max & Buddah is one of the places I like to sleep in the afternoon.
The sun comes in the window and really makes for a warm and private place.
I have a knitted kitty blankie in there, and a couple of mousies.
Shaggy is too fat to fit through the hole, which is an added bonus. So this place is all mine!

Fun, Interrupted
Sheesh!
Mom had a feather wand and we were having a really good time with it.
I was attempting to jump and chase it as best I could with my, ummm, girth.
Exercise, you know?
Then here comes Scout, to horn in on the fun and ruin our play session.
Mom says she's going to have to shut him in a room next time we play so I can get that much needed exercise and have some one on one time with her.
