Little Cat Feet

Shaggy and his littermate brother Scooby came to live with us in October 2005, when they were 5 years old. Scout arrived in 2006 at the age of 6 weeks. Scooby passed over very suddenly to the Rainbow Bridge on April 1, 2012 and is remembered fondly and missed deeply.

Snoopervising Dad's Project

Our dad is a man who likes to keep busy.
He's the kind of guy that feels that if he doesn't have a project going, it's not a productive use of time.
This is only true after golf season is over, of course. He's never been one to just sit around and take it easy. Not like mom. She loves to sit with a book and read the day away. They are quite opposite in this way. Each can do their own thing and be perfectly happy knowing the other is happy too. Plus, mom says it keeps dad out from underfoot when he's focused on a project!
His Thanksgiving/Christmas project this year was to re-paint the guest suite and lay down a laminate floor in the bedroom. Last year he gutted and totally re-did the guest bathroom from the studs up. The wall board had water damage and the cheap shower in there was not installed right. The old linoleum was curling and any guest would feel most unwelcome in there. He laid down floor tile on the diagonal, replaced the ceiling tiles, added a shower with glass door, but has still to install a new wall cabinet in the space next to the shower. A standard one is just slightly too big for the space so he has to shave down all the sides and the door to fit right. Here we show the floor in the bathroom and how it connects with the bedroom.
I have been snoopervising except when he starts pounding stuff. That's scary and he's on his own with that. I run upstairs. Shaggy & Scooby stay away because they don't like chaos. They like things to stay the same and don't like their naps interrupted.

Doing My Napping

Mom put a blankie in my favorite cardboard box and it's cozy for winter.

We don't get much sun in the "sunroom" during the winter since it faces north but it is real toasty when the baseboard heat is turned on. Mom's always cold so whenever she comes in here to read, on goes the heat.
She also has a foot warmer thingy and a favorite blankie.
Let's just say she's a winter wimp and leave it at that.

Happy Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving to all our kitty friends and their people!
Our big boy is going to come over and share turkey, gravy, mashed potatoes and dressing with us.
Mom thinks now that he has his own house he should host some of this stuff now, but she's not really serious. She enjoys cooking for her men, and John loves to come over and see us. Even though we live in the same city, he has a life and travels a lot with his job so he doesn't make it over too much.
He is highly allergic to us and stuffs up within 10 minutes of walking in the house, but he knows that is going to happen and it's the price he pays for soaking in our gorgeousness!
This is how I will look waiting by the oven, smelling all the good smells of the day! -Scout

Orinch Boy is Still Here

The orinch cat we showed you last week is still hanging around and it looks like he may be living in the upper area of the garage with Zolie. At least part time. And Zolie's kibble was gone, she doesn't eat that much at one time.

Mom is hesitant about trapping him because it still looks like he's only around part time and might come & go from wherever his house is. We haven't seen him for a couple days but he was back on the deck last night and this morning he was gobbling down Zolies canned food.
And he ate like he was starving. There he is in the picture, and there's Zolie having to sit back because of it.
She hates to trap him if he is somebody's cat but on the other paw they aren't taking the best care of him letting him roam. Mom thought when the cold weather comes maybe they won't let him out anymore, but it's been pretty cold and here he is again.

Our People are Sick

Both Mom & Dad have The Crud.
Both sick this week. Dad stayed home Monday but he's still coughing a lot.

Mom's went into her chest and she said she should have called for antibiotics today, but now will have to suffer through the weekend with it. She's taking Robitussin to try to break it up but when it goes to her chest only antibiotics will get rid of it.
I napped next to her this afternoon, she's real tired and kind of dizzy.
Yeah, I know it's an old picture. Best we can do tonight.

Orinch Visitor

This handsome boy has been visiting off & on for the last several months.
Zolie is spayed so he isn't bothering her, but he does eat her food when he comes by. And yes, he is a "he."
Mom is worried about him now that the weather is turning colder and winter is on the way.
Because he shows up sporadically she thinks he is one of those cats that are let out by their owners to prowl, which might explain why he isn't constantly here. He also comes right up to the door and stares into the house which to mom says he knows what "inside" is. And he's a big, solid, hefty well fed cat, so it looks like eats at more than one house. She is going to wait and see when winter sets in for the duration if he is still coming around and then will think about trapping him & getting him someplace safe.
Until then, he's a real handsome mancat, isn't he.

Can Things Be Normal Now?

The people are back from our niece Katie's funeral.
Mom says she wants to avoid people for a few days because she is tired of standing around making senseless small talk with strangers. She says she needs to decompress.
But she said it was good to see the relatives again, but two family funerals in less than a year is not the way to do it.
They were just gone overnight, but somehow we managed to throw up every meal we ate. By "we" it is understood that one (or more) of us allegedly did it, but we're not divulging who the mad puker was.
Yup, 2 canned food yak piles and an artfully done kibble barf down the back cushions of the couch.

Gone Again

Mom & Dad just got home from a trip "up north" to visit Gramma before the snow comes. The snow blows straight across the interstate up there on the prairie where the land is so flat you just wouldn't believe it! White outs are dangerous and the wind blows all the time, mom tells us. Our 30 year old niece passed away unexpectedly earlier in the week and they must make a sad overnight trip for the visitation and funeral.
Our neighbor girl Allison will come again to play with us, feed us and give us lots of brushies!
See this picture? Finally! A Shaggy-sized box!!

Mars

Neighbor cat Mars came to visit us at the front door a few days ago. Sometimes he sneaks outside, but he always comes over when he does and our mom takes him home.

He's a real nice senior cat.
Mom cat sits him & his brother Tippy when their parents go out of town.

Mars has a teeny tiny "mew". You'd think he was a baby cat if you heard him.
We always like to see him and visit nicely through the door, or sit with him if we are outside when he comes over.

Zolie Likes It!

Zolie was suspicious of her Heated Kitty Camper for a day.
She must have thought it was some kind of trap.
But the second day she was in there and we see her there every day now.
Mom left her round kitty bed up on the freezer for her too. Some days are still warm and she will go in there in the afternoons.
This morning it was 24 degrees and she was appreciating the heat!

The first picture she is inside her cozy hut.
The other two she is up on a roll of old carpet where she jumps if she feels threatened.

Mom tried to get good pictures but being so feral she just turned the lazers on her full blast!

Scout Says.....

Hey!

You never know when the urge to keep a clean machine will hit.

Be ready at all times to hoist that leg up!
