Little Cat Feet

Shaggy and his littermate brother Scooby came to live with us in October 2005, when they were 5 years old. Scout arrived in 2006 at the age of 6 weeks. Scooby passed over very suddenly to the Rainbow Bridge on April 1, 2012 and is remembered fondly and missed deeply.

Lots of Rain

It's wet and soggy outside. While we once had endless snow this winter, it is now coming down as endless rain. For a solid week.  We got some seepage in the basement and the yard is real soggy.   It should be....this was the wettest April in 142 years. Mom has been sick nearly a week with gunk in her head and chest. She got some aunti-biotics yesterday. She puts the heating pad on her chest, when she gets up & moves around, I try to steal it but she moves me every time. =Shaggy

A Little Chaos

Our living room is all torn up. Mom & Dad have been wanting to re-do it for a long time but, people, as you know, don't pounce on anything too fast. I'll show you around....  See the church painting?  That's an original 1964 oil painting by a North Dakotan who specialized in painting abandoned farm houses, barns & churches.  Our Grampa was a patron of his and our mom now has the collection. The oil up on the right side is another. There's a neat story that goes with the church painting & we'll tell you about it sometime.  As for now, Dad has a golfing buddy who does carpentry working on built-in bookshelves for that wall which will flank the painting. The lower base cabinets are done, but not stained yet.  That wall gets morning sun, so Shaggy & I are scoping it for sun puddle possibilities. The old carpet and tile is torn up and Dad brought the new hardwood floor home yesterday. He laid out a couple boards just to see what it looks like. The floor has to go down after the built-ins. The Throw-Up Couch is gone. We loved that couch.  New furniture is in the garage. The curtains will be taken down and the walls need painting.  Your guess is as good as ours as to when it will be all finished!  -Scout

A Good Sunday

Here I am relaxing on Mom's legs while she reads her Kindle.  We had a snowstorm that dropped 6 inches of snow in our yard on Wednesday but today it is all melted and we had 75 degree weather.  Mom got her tan from Phoenix a month ago all perked up again. Scout & I were outside with her almost all day, soaking up the sun and helping her do her reading.  Mom says the sun was "medicinal and therapeutic." All we can say is it sure felt good!  -Shaggy.

Spring....yeah, right.....

 April 16.
Winter Storm Warning.
Mom used the "F" word today. Several times.
And it wasn't F for "fun," "fabulous," or  "fantastic."
At least 6 inches, and counting. It's evening and still snowing heavily. Not a gentle snow either, it's wind driven, and very wet and heavy.
Maybe we have done a re-wind to November and we are stuck in some endless winter time warp. I was munching some early grass yesterday believe it or not.  -Shaggy

No Snow...Still Gray

Remember this? We don't want to.

The snow melted little by little with some warmer temperatures and even some rain.  It has mostly been a gray, reluctant spring. We have only been outside a few more times if  the sun made an appearance. See in the last picture mom put the chairs on the front deck? It faces south and is out of the wind, so when the sun is out it's a nice place to spend some time. She brings her Kindle out and I watch for squerls and birds, and that nasty Chippy who lives under the deck. Shaggy likes to be out a little, but it is not warm enough for him yet. We think because he is turning 14, the chill in the air and cold, damp ground bothers him.  -Scout

First Day Out

Chippy's lair is right under here
Today Shaggy & I went out for the first time this year. Winter has slowly, very slowly, lost it's grip. Today it is 50 degrees and on Wednesday it is expected to be 70 for just that one day, then back to the 50's.  So, mom let us out to get whiffies and explore the new spring scents, and hear the birdies. They were chirping like crazy! Guess who else is out? That nasty little taunting Chippy who lives under our front deck. I stalked him for a while, but then just went back to enjoying the warm sunshine on my furs.  Glorious!  -Scout
I settled down to wait

The sun feels good. Still some snow piles left

Our Blankie!

Shaggy & Scout: Nap Interrupted
This is the blankie that Derby & Ducky's Mum made and sent to our Mom as something to make the winter a little brighter.  Mom loves it, especially all the vivid colors.
Of course as many of you pointed out, everything belongs to the cats in the house. Mom may think it is hers, but it actually is ours.  So we claimed it. She called us blankie stealers before she took these pictures.
It's Ours!
A perfect size when folded

Scooby's Anniversary

Scooby on his Favorite Perch
Two years ago our beloved Tuxie, Scooby left suddenly for the Rainbow Bridge.  He and Shaggy were littermates, brothers from the very same litter who'd always been together.  I adopted them at age 3 in 2003.  It was a devastating afternoon when the aneurism "popped" and he was gone, just like that, in my arms. I have many pictures of him....I just wish I still had HIM.  I have sensed him in the house at times, when it is quiet and I'm sitting in my reading chair or at night resting on my bed. Once I felt a movement on the bed and a very familiar pressure against my lower legs just like when he'd stretch out along side me in life. I am sure I catch glimpses of him now and then too. Shaggy & I miss you so much Precious Scooby.
