Little Cat Feet

Shaggy and his littermate brother Scooby came to live with us in October 2005, when they were 5 years old. Scout arrived in 2006 at the age of 6 weeks. Scooby passed over very suddenly to the Rainbow Bridge on April 1, 2012 and is remembered fondly and missed deeply.

Bee TV Update: Beez In Our Trees, Part 2

The wasp nest in our tree is about the size of a basketball now, and seeming to get bigger every day! As we said when we first posted pictures of it, the beez do not bother us or the people, so the people plan to let the hive stay until the weather freezes. The beez are very busy. They make a beeline to somewhere across the street and back all day long, day in & day out. The hive is quite beautiful, mom says, with several ways in & out on each side. She wishes one side was glass so she could see what was going on in there, what keeps them so busy, only to lose it all when the freezing weather comes.

Shhhh....ManCat Napping

Zzzzzzzzzz
Napping on the new couch. I won't go up on it unless there is a blankie spread out for me. This one we got from Derby & Ducky gets the honor of being in the newly remodeled room on the new leather couch. Mom says the room needs a good shot of color and this beautifully crow-shayed afghan by their Mum is Purr-fect!  Thanks again Derby, Ducky & Mum! Now where was I....? -Shaggy

Blending In

I'm blending in to the tree and shadows trying to surprise that plump, annoying, taunting, tail-twitching, chattering squirrel that thinks he owns the yard.  I'd like to teach him a lesson or two, but mom would probably ruin my good time and set him free. But....I wait patiently. -Scout

Beez in our Treez

We have a nifty hornets nest, or is it paper or mud wasp, nest in our tree. Our neighbor pointed it out a month ago and it has grown even bigger since then. Mom actually had spotted it from the window a few days before he mentioned it, but since she wasn't wearing her glasses she thought it was a squirrel sitting on a branch!  The neighbor said to take it out, but the people are going to leave it and let the winter kill it. The beez don't bother us one bit, or the people either. Mom can sit on the front deck and even mow right under it and the beez just go about their beezness. She even stood under it to take these pictures and watch them come & go.  Mom says it is probably full of baby beez now and it would be a shame to displace them. The beez will abandon this nest before the weather freezes and go wherever beez go for the winter, then the nest can come down.   Cool huh?

I Got Him!

I caught that chippy today! I waited patiently all summer and I finally got the little stripey devil. With all stealth, I hid myself under the bush near his lair. I waited most of the afternoon in that same spot. Finally, he tried to dart past me but I was faster and I clamped down.  Mom grabbed the camera, then.....then......she pried my jaws open and made me drop him!!!   Mom knew he wasn't deaded because he was blinking his eyes. The catch I waited all summer for darted away, unharmed! How dare she! He was mine, all mine!  -Scout
