Genius

This is a great banned advert. Not work friendly (if you work in an uptight office). Thanks to Spanish Johnny for the link. I can relate to the guy at the end... G

Dusted

Deus Ex Machina - Harold Park Paceway Revisited from Deus Customs on Vimeo.

We dig all the no-budget helmet-cam stuff people are shooting of their glorious - and gingerly does it (me), exploits. But here is a challenge... We know there are a lot of creatives out there, and even ad-land types that have access to professional editing suites and the like. Can anyone make a UK version of this lush - but minimal, Deus feel good clip, that mixes on-bike head-cam, off-bike long shots, arty blips of bike details, and a few subliminal swooshes?! We don't always have the sun, but we do have the characters. BP

Mopeds of the Medina

When I'm a billionaire and I've already got my Amsterdam pizza delivery boy MotoGP up and running, the next project will be another life threatening street race but set in amongst the tiny Souks of Marrakesh. The max speed obtainable on such puny step-through machines wont render it as terrifying as Macau, but then again Macau isn't awash with donkey piss, toothless beggars, carpet salesmen trying to abduct your wife, and dumb tourists stumbling about.
I've just got back from a week's family holiday. We stayed in a cheapo riad with air-con that actually heated our room up above the ambient street temp. Icecream couscous became our staple diet. But it's an amazing place. I had hoped to sneak off for a couple of days KTM'ing with Wilderness Wheels, but my back was still out, so I had to make do with a one day taxi trip into the spectacular Atlas mountains and daily gorking at mopeds.

So, this bloke right...

Look, I daren't actually name this bloke, because he lives in a small village in the English East Midlands and his name is so distinctive - it would be unfair. And he's not even a mate. So...

'Bob' lived in a nearby village. He had an oxy-acetylene torch and a confused attitude to health and safety. When his five-foot oxygen cylinder ran out he found that the brass regulator on his spare was damaged. He didn’t like the look of it, gas welding can be dangerous, and with a perfectly good regulator on the empty cylinder, well, why not swap them over?

So, he lay the full cylinder on the lawn in the back garden, and, propped up at an angle for easy access, Bob straddled the cylinder and started to unscrew the regulator. Now, he wasn’t stupid, he knew that the swap would have to be really flippin' quick to avoid losing too much gas, so he had the good regulator right there ready by his side. He loosened the regulator with a spanner, then started to unscrew slowly by hand.

The following happened in a split second: Bob never knew just how many turns were left before 2500psi blew the regulator clean off the bottle. It fired, like an angular brass cannonball, through his Land Rover’s tailgate, continued through the driver’s seat and buried itself in the dashboard. Meanwhile, the torpedo-shaped steel cylinder shot up the garden, through two brick walls and into the kitchen. On its way, to add injury to insult, it crossed a gravel path and blasted the still-crouching Bob in the back like a shotgun. We can only imagine this scenario being retold many times in the hospital as Bob lay face-down biting a pillow, gravel pinged into a stainless steel kidney dish and assembled medical staff bit their sleeves in desperate attempts to stifle laughter. Whiskey And Rye

Rye House; the Rockets Speedway circuit, was a ball. Thanks for organizing it all Jason (C&J Rotax, top left here). The weather has been diabolical over the past couple of weeks, and I was being pessimistic. Expecting Jason to be riding a one horse race in a paddy field, while everybody else stayed at home. But he organized sunshine too; he's very well connected. Thanks to everyone for letting me try out their steeds - Scotty #88 I'd like to try yours too next time. Steve 'Outtacontrolla' as well as the frisky Vertemati #59, also bought along his Husaberg FE400 enduro which in the sludge with it's knobblies, was sublime - but cheating. Anthony's CoBuilt #47 out shone everything else - in my novice hands at least. Riding my CCM #C26 on road tyres was a silly idea, but I wanted to give it a go anyhows. #100X is Wilky and his Roberts Rotax. Black plate is Ian Cramp with his Crampton Rotax. No plate (centre bottom) is GI and his Woods Rotax. #41 is Randal and his pukka FTR250 with twin down-tubes, imported via Australia. Thanks for the boots Stevie, they were a Cinderella fit. BP
