The 28th issue, and the first of 2017, our tenth year of existence, is a solid chocolate bunny of moto goodness. This is a Harley heavy issue, but it's not one-dimensional. There are stories of riding across the USA on a 1915 board track racer; a blueprint and history of the '52 KR750; the highest of high-tech XG750s built by Suicide Machine Co in Long Beach, Ca; we have a bunch of racing V-twins from 1930s VLs to the hottest hooligans; a great survivor WR and an exclusive interview with the head of Harley-Davidson's design studio about the XG750R factory racer.

Garrett's Bikes

The very first post on this blog was a photo of Garrett B's Aermacchi 250 in front of his garage door. I've forgotten how he found out about us, before the blog. Obviously, he'd bought the magazine or seen it somewhere, but he was, and still is, in Colorado, USA and Sideburn was, and still is, in Lincolnshire, England. It was an early example of the power of Sideburn.

We've kept in touch with Garrett over the years and he will always have a special place in our heart, so it seems right that the final proper post on this blog, for the foreseeable future, is of a couple of Garrett's current bikes in front of the same garage door. Above is his new Honda framer, a C&J big-bore XR600, dating from 1984-85, Garrett thinks.

Below is his tasty Sportster hooligan that he won the state series on. I don't think Garrett raced flat track when he first got in touch, but I know he used to race MX when he was a yoof. Now he and his kids race all the time, coming either first or second in their classes throughout the 2016 season.

So, that's it for this blog. It will stay here until Google turn off the lights, all 5673 posts, dating back to Garrett's Aermacchi in March 2008. But don't be sad, we still love blogs and will continue to regularly post on our new website, sideburnmagazine.com, and we will post bigger online only features in the STORIES section too. Sportster Racer for Sale in UK

This looks like a pukka bit of kit, imported from America, PM 8-spoke back wheel, Supertrapp pipe, flat track triple clamps, Racetech rear shocks (I think), chain drive, Dunlop race rubber; engine stamped race only, so probably from the H-D supported Sportster series than ran from the 80s into the 90s (and maybe even longer).

It looks like it would be great for the 2017 DTRA Hooligan Championship. That will be four rounds with a big trophy at the end and lots of fun in between.

Only one day left on eBay. Not reached its reserve. This sale is nothing to do with us. We don't know the bike or the owner. Buy beware. Thanks to Kev H again for the tip-off. G

Redmax HBC Indian Scout

 This in from Steve Redmax...

HBC Motorcycles in Nottingham commissioned the build from us and did the paint at the end. There is a dealer comp going for Scout specials and they will all be displayed at the NEC next week . It has a Trask pipe 2 into 1 ceramic black . All the fabrication done in house at Redmax mainly by Glenn who also did the seat pad. 

We made a Dummy Alloy C&J-style XR tank shell from one of our tanks and XR alloy seat unit (both Redmax products). Under seat is a new subframe relocating the shocks to a more upright position and containing the actual fuel tank. Seat dzus fastens on and uncovers the fuel cap under the hump. Redmax alloy race numberboards front n sides and Tarrozi rearsets fitted on Redmax hangers that re-located the foot pegs back to a useable position and mount brake reservoirs at same time ... 

Redmax Flanders style black bars changed the look straight away , but the 19" spoked wheels really made a difference as i had 'reservations' about the fat standard ones. She flies straight as an arrow now ! We really like how the bike rides, very streetable and the motor has plenty of poke and revs away below, while the revised seating position make it able the hustle in the bends very well . We like it and feel it's a real feather in our cap to have made one so early on .... excuse all the puns mate , but we did enjoy this one!
