Extreme Weight Loss

This stunning liquid-cooled Harley XG750 Street is featured in Sideburn 25. It was built by Asterisk of Japan, whose Kawasaki KX500 was previously featured in SB13.

It has a custom frame and hand-formed bodywork. The stock bike weighs 223kg (492lb). The Asterisk bike weighs 152kg (335lbs). Those Roland Sands Designs 19in wheels look the business too. G

Buddy Custom Cycle Racing Flathead

When I was looking for photos for the FEVHOTS Post, I found photos of this gorgeous handshift flathead. I don't know if it's an original or new crate motor, but I love the mix of old and new. 1940s tech engine, in a monoshock frame. Handshift, but 2015 Maxxis rubber. Even the rider is mixing it up, white jeans and modern helmet.
It was built by Buddy Custom Cycles and if we can get a feature on it, we will. G

It's a long time since I called by the HWZNBRoss blog, but a few images on the @yace instagram feed reminded me to reacquaint myself. These great shots were up there (copyright: HWZNBross).

Stevie Gee at Deus Harajuku in Japan!

The original Tequila Mockingbird and Sideburn collaborator, Stevie Gee is over in Japan right now, doing his thing. The show opens tomorrow. Details below...

Stevie Gee art exhibition SUPERDREAM launch party at #DeusExMachinaHarajuku from Thursday May 21 at 8:00PM. A first time visit to Japan by the UK artist known for his memorable Deus artwork.

To commemorate the London-born artist's first Japanese show we spent a couple of days digging through the Sideburn vaults to find any remnants of the Sideburn 15 Stevie Gee cover that had crawled into a crevice in a vain attempt to save itself. We found a handful.
The cover by shot by Sam Christmas and features the Kawasaki Z200 built by Sideburn and CFM, and painted by Stevie Gee. The story is a beauty and the back cover of this memorable issue features fellow UK artist Essy May, who is now, officially, ripping up trees on the London art scene.

Brat Style BMW RnineT

We're a little slow on the up-take I know, so this is already all over the internet and we consequently won't do a magazine feature on it. But it's a pretty thing made out of a brute of a bike by Japanese master swordsman Go Takamine. The Original: Brat Style

People have become very confused. Some try to tell us 'Our show includes Brat Style bikes.' Others claim 'We make Brat Style bikes.' They don't. Only one company makes Brat Style bikes: Brat Style of Japan. The rest, those influenced and riding on the coat tails, make Brat Style-style bikes.

For Sideburn 18 (out now!) Japanese journalist, photographer, clothing designer and rocker, Hiro Maeda visited Brat Style's three-storey Tokyo HQ for Sideburn. He interviewed the top man, Mr. Go Takamine, and got the lowdown on the history of the company; why Go has moved to the USA; what the followers will be riding in four years time (basically what Go is building right now). And there isn't a panini seat in sight.

On another note - Ben pointed out there is a website in Italy called Brat Style and they've trademarked the name. Trademarking the name of a true trailblazer and a gent - how low can you go? GI
