Imaginext Green Arrow & Launcher

This is the Imaginext version of Green Arrow. I'm not terribly up on my modern Green Arrow mythos, but he appears to be based on the current 'New 52' Green Arrow designs, or perhaps the Arrow television show version. Or maybe a bit of both.

This Green Arrow with Launcher set is a Target exclusive. The launcher is a repaint from an earlier medieval themed set.

The launcher is a beast. It comes with dual launchers that rotate up and down, and the whole firing mechanism rotates side to side. It's relative in that it is a pair of giant bows/arrows, but otherwise doesn't really seem right for Green Arrow in my opinion. He's a Robin hood based vigilante, he's not laying siege to Kings' Landing! The figure should have still come with a standard bow. I'll have to rectify the issue with something from Playmobil someday.

Green Arrow's hood is removable, which is pretty fun! Looking at him in package, I had assumed it was a permanent piece. I should have taken a picture of the back of it as it has a quiver full of arrows molded on to it. So he has arrows, just no bow.

Sigh.

Green Arrow is a fun addition to the Imaginext line-up. And for all my kvetching about 'no bow,' this launcher will get would have gotten a lot of play when I was a kid. But a bow with maybe a boxing glove arrow molded to it? That would have been SO COOL!

Sigh.

Sheng Yuan Heroes Assemble BootLEGOs: Beast, Red Robin, Galactus, Ant-Man and MORE!

Check out some incredible and unexpected bootleg LEGO minifigures - Heroes Assemble by Sheng Yuan - coming soon to eBay for cheap (or if you can't wait and want to pay a little more or buy in bulk, available now on AliExpress.)

This first batch may seem a little 'meh', until you get to the lower right hand corner. Yes, kids, that's Red Robin in BootLEGO minifigure form! Also shown is movie Hawkeye, yellow Deadpool, and Phoenix. Not sure how these will be bundled when they come to eBay, but I'll take any Marvel also-ran to get my hands on that Red Robin!

This next batch shows Beast and Ant-Man, along with Green Arrow and a masked brown costume Wolverine! None of these are 'must-haves' for me (I already have the Decool brown costume Wolverine) but I wouldn't mind owning all of them, so I'll wait and see how I feel or how they are bundled when they hit eBay.

Here's a batch that I will definitely try to get: Comic book Hawkeye, Galactus (!!!), Cyborg and Nova. That Galactus is just incredible and probably will never be seen in an official LEGO set.

Finally, Sheng Yuan has bootlegged the recent GameStop exclusive Plastic Man, a minifigure I would love to own. This batch also includes Daredevil, Loki and Magneto. If bundled in this manner, I may pass and just try to get an official LEGO Plastic Man, since none of the others really appeal to me (and since I already own a Decool version of that Magneto.) EDIT: I just noticed Plastic Man has elongated arms and legs, unlike the LEGO version. Looks like I will have to pick this one up after all!

These should be popping up on eBay really soon, so keep your eyes peeled. In my experience Sheng Yuan makes some top quality bootleg LEGO minifigures, and while many of these may be available in official LEGO form, some aren't and probably never will be.

Harley Quinn on next week's Arrow?

This screen grab from the promo for the upcoming Arrow episode 'Suicide Squad', to air on Wednesday March 19th, seems to suggest that Harley Quinn will, in the least, be making a cameo appearance on The CW's Arrow television show!

Now I am way too much of a realist to think Harley Quinn will have more than a two second bit part, but maybe this is a set-up for something bigger in the future.

Harley Quinn has been a member of the Suicide Squad in the past, so it isn't unreasonable to think she might actually have a fleshed out role in Arrow, or that this might be a set-up for a future storyline. And hey, the show does air on a Harley Qwednesday!

Here's hoping for big things for Harley in this week's episode of Arrow! Check out the promo below:

CW's new Green Arrow

Although the Green Arrow of Smallville was one of the best parts of the last few seasons of Smallville...this isn't him.

Instead, it's an all new re-booted re-imagined Green Arrow for the new century! (At least I'm sure that's what it is because that's what all these shows are.)

Regardless, here's the first look at the Emerald Archer himself from the upcoming Green Arrow pilot on the CW. Here's hoping this one is better that the recent Wonder Woman flop.

It's not easy being Green...Arrow

DC Universe Classics Green Arrow, from Wave 9.

Green Arrow came with a bow (with arrow attached) and four 'trick' arrows. I didn't take pics of everything because my goal here was just cool pics and not a comprehensive review or look at GA.

But as for the look of the figure and his posability etc, Green Arrow is tops! His wrists have extra articulation for bow and arrow holding, and his right hand is posed to properly grip the non-business end of his arrows. Keen.

I did get a pic of him with the boxing glove arrow because there is nothing awesomer than a boxing glove arrow. In fact at my work there is archery equipment available, and one of my goals is to do a 'proof-of-concept' test on the boxing glove arrow. I'll try to get it on video when I get around to it.

Wearin' o' the Green

St. Patrick's Day is Tuesday, and the nation is awash in green as folks start their celebrations a little early this weekend.

So to honor the holiday in a manner other than by consuming mass quantities of Guinness and Corned beef (although that will happen too) I bring you the Emerald Archer himself, Green Arrow!

This is the DC Infinite Heroes Green Arrow that is currently available in a three pack and a single carded version. The figure is the same (as far as I know) no matter which way you get him, and mine came to me as a single.

Green Arrow, aka Oliver Queen, comes with a compound bow accessory.

So far he is the only DCIH figure I have gotten that comes with any type of accessory. I don't need unnatural accessories for the sake of accessories, but a Green Arrow without his bow is like a Dr. Manhattan without his...well...you know. So I'm really glad GA has it.

He also has a quiver and arrows strapped to his back but they are molded on and non-removable. That's okay and in no way does it detract from the fun factor and coolness factor of this GA.

If Mattel's goal is to only release DC Infinite Heroes figures with relevant and logical accessories I applaud the effort and believe in the adage "less is more."

The hooded costume is an awesome look for Green Arrow and really makes this figure stand out among it's contemporaries. I am a huge fan of his classic look, but I must admit this hooded costume figure is a real treat for the eyes. There are a lot of details too.

The face is also an excellent sculpt. With his domino mask and goatee, Oliver is ready to fire off a few arrows on Friday and spend Saturday at the Ren. Faire with Dinah.

Green Arrow brings our DCIH tally to:

Infinite Heroes: 3
Infinite Villains: 1

Huzzah!
