Funko Snuffleupagus POP! 2015 SDCC Exclusive

I did not make it to SDCC last year, nor will I be in attendance this year. However, my mother in law, who lives in San Diego, was able to procure for our family a 2015 SDCC Exclusive Flocked Snuffleupagus POP! last year. Barnes and Noble apparently sells some of Funko's exclusives at some stores in San Diego, so non-attendees still have access to them. She also sent me a maskless Captain America POP and an Ant-Man POP last year too, and I look forward to her sending along some goodies this year (I hope!)

Snuffleupagus is one of my all time favorite Sesame Street characters. The 2015 SDCC exclusive is a flocked version, giving him a nice fuzzy feel.

Snuffy is also appropriately 'over-sized' and is larger than the standard POP! figure.

"SCRAM!"

Harley Qwednesday :: Harley Quinn, I Choo-Choo Choose You!

Mattel revealed another of their 2015 San Diego Comic-Con exclusives this week - a set of Thomas the Tank Engine/DC Super Friends mash-up minis - and whoa nelly the set will include a Harley Quinn train!

Woo-WOOOOOOO!

The set is a 2015 SDCC exclusive. Well, they say the Batman train (and the packaging) is the SDCC exclusive part, and early indicators suggest that the rest of these guys (most importantly, Harley!) will be available at general retail. Hopefully I can confirm that as fact before SDCC 2015, because (channeling Don Cornelius) I need that Harrrrrrrrrley Trrrrrrraiiiiiiin!

Also if this set doesn't sell out at SDCC (and if it does I'll eat my hat) it will be available on MattyCollector.com after the 'con, and I will probably resort to spending way too much for shipping and this whole silly train set itself just to get my hands on the Harley Quinn train.

The Thomas the Tank Engine Minis are new this year from Fisher-Price. From what I can tell they are sold in three packs and blind bags. I hope and pray Harley is made available in the three pack format, but I am fine with squeezing stupid little bags of trains to get her if I need to. It's still a much better option than trying to track down an SDCC exclusive set, or worse, buying anything off the MattyCollector website!

Below are the official details on the exclusive set from MattyCollector:

Thomas & Friends™ Super Friends Minis

The world’s favorite engines meet the world’s greatest super heroes as Thomas & Friends™ collide with DC Super Friends™ for a mighty mashup! The engines who keep the Island of Sodor running now have heroic new makeovers as MINIS with designs based on the heroes seen in DC Comics.
This exclusive San Diego Comic-Con pack features five fantastic MINIS mashups, including:
  • Exclusive to San Diego Comic-Con: Diesel as the Dark Knight version of Batman!
  • Thomas/Superman
  • Spencer/Cyborg
  • D10/The Joker
  • Millie/Harley Quinn
Best of all, it includes a premium, exclusive-to-San Diego Comic-Con package complete with a new comic story revealing the origin of the Thomas& Friends/DC Super Friends mashup and dynamic light-up action! It’s the perfect introduction to the Thomas & Friends/DC Super Friends MINIS.

All ABOOOOARRRRD!

Batman of Zur-En-Arrh LEGO Minifigure Bootleg

At San Diego Comic Con this past summer (2014) one of LEGO's super limited exclusives was The Batman of Zur-En-Arrh. I was at ComiCon but didn't realize this fact until after it had sold out. That said, I would not have likely gotten it anyways as the LEGO exclusives are painfully difficult to obtain even if you attend the Con. Not surprisingly, The Batman of Zur-En-Arrh LEGO minifigure is now going for hundreds of dollars on the secondary market.

Thank God for Chinese bootleggers!

Every so often I seek out what's new in the Chinese BootLEGO world, so imagine my joy when I discovered they are now making a Batman of Zur-En-Arrh minifigure!

He's not an exact duplicate of the LEGO version: The symbol is slightly different, he doesn't have his 'Bat-Radia' printed on his belt (but he does have printing on his back torso,) his head only has one face printed on it, and his cape is scalloped instead of flat at the base.

He also does not come with a bat (I borrowed mine from another LEGO minifigure.)

He does come with a Bat...umm...mobile?

As far as I am aware, this vehicle is a bootleg original, and not based off of any official (or unofficial) LEGO build.

I suppose the jalopy-esque cobbled-together nature of the Batmobile or Batscooter or whatever it is  does fit into the character as envisioned by Grant Morrison, so it is a fun addition to the minifigure. But honestly they had me at 'Batman of Zur-En-Arrh.'

I believe this set is by ShengYuan, and the quality is incredible. Seriously on par with LEGO at this point. The cape material is flimsier than official LEGO capes, but that's a minor quibble. In fact, if you wanted your Batman of Zur-En-Arrh to look even more like the official version, you can use the LEGO Magneto's cape, as it is an exact match for the SDCC exclusive Batman version's cape, no scallops and all.

I got this guy off eBay and so far this minifigure is only available in a set of four Batman minifigures/mini vehicles. I can't complain, I got the whole set for less than ten bucks shipped, making this guy no more than a couple bucks alone. An incredible alternative to 200 plus dollars for an official version!

The fact that the Chinese bootleggers made this guy makes me think they really have their fingers on the pulse of LEGO minifigure fandom, and it gives me high hopes for some incredible bootlegs based on the new LEGO Batman 3 video game. I expect some great and unexpected LEGO DC and Batman themed bootlegs within the next year!

2014 San Diego Comic Con :: Star Wars, Muppets, and Zombies. Oh my!

On display at the Mattel booth was this full size Darth Vadermobile, designed by Hot Wheels and soon to be a toy that you probably need to add to your collection.

Gonzo the Great! This is an actual screen used Gonzo from Muppets in Space.

And apparently Gonzo the Great made a great escape and busted loose from his glass case, because...

It wasn't until I was getting this picture ready for the blog that I noticed Gonzo in the background! He was on the floor perusing the Star Wars stuff and I totally missed him.

Seriously, that Gonzo behind the helmet wasn't a display - I don't know if that guy with him was carrying around a functional Muppet or what, but I wish I had noticed him when I was there.

Pepe Prawn was also on display.

Star Wars: Rebels had a bunch of life-sized characters on display. This sure-to-be spunky droid is named Chopper.

This Twi'lek took a liking to me and insisted I take a selfie with her. Her name is Hera Syndulla.

This Jedi Master needs no introduction. Or should I say 'No introduction, this Jedi master needs.' And notice Hera in the background checking me out. I think she was stalking me.

Comic Con is a huge place, and I got lost pretty bad. Fortunately there was this helpful map posted for those of us who had gotten confused by all the hustle and bustle.

Found it! Boy, I sure hope they have BBQ.

2014 San Diego Comic Con :: Harley Quinn Cosplay :: Another Great Harley Qwednesday Post!

You knew this was coming!

At SDCC 2014 this year I got as many pictures of Harley Quinn cosplayers as I could, which is surprisingly few - not because there weren't plenty of excellent Harley Quinn cosplayers to be seen, but because the Con was so packed with people, it was often impossible to get to a Harley through the crowds! I didn't even get a picture of a single cosplayer in the classic Harley Quinn costume!

Oh well, I did get photographs of nine great Harley Quinn cosplayers - each with a different and unique take on everyone's favorite moll.

So without further ado - here are my Harley Quinn copslayer photos from San Diego Comic Con 2014!

An incredible Arkham Knight video game Harley Quinn flanked by equally incredible pin-up versions of Catwoman and Harley Quinn! Standing in front of cases full of Batman action figures. If there is a heaven. this is mine.

Arkham City Harley Quinn and her pal Lady Deadpool!

Bombshell Harley Quinn strikes a pose!

This Harley Quinn was promoting the Cinemakeup School. Her scar/makeup was very cool and creepy!

'Harley's Freak Show' Victorian Era Harley Quinn.

Nineteen fifties Harley Quinn being goofy, as all 1950s Harley Quinns should be.

Steampunk Poison Ivy and Harley Quinn.

And finally a New 52 inspired Harley Quinn being flexible.

Surprisingly, that's all the Harl;ey Quinns I was able to photograph. There were plenty more that I missed. I wish I could have gotten pictures of all of the great Harley Quinns I saw!

P.S. If anyone knows who any of these cosplayers are or if any of them are you and you want credit or a shout-out or a link to wherever, leave a comment and I will edit the post accordingly!
