Batman Issue 666, cover date July 2007, introduced us to a dystopian future wherein Bruce Wayne's son and current Robin Damian Wayne had adopted the mantle of the Bat after his father's death. And now, then years later, those crazy Chinese BootLEGOers have made him into a minifigure!
Instead of wearing a cape, Damian Batman wears a trench-coat with a massive collar. Because DYSTOPIAN FUTURE!
This minifig also has a little cloth collar piece, and comes with your basic grapple-hook/gun. Damian Wayne Batman is a gorgeous minifigure, and a neat Batman AND Robin variant that I'm willing to bet the farm will never be a part of an official LEGO playset. I got him off eBay as usual, and I got him for less than a buck, shipped from China! Madness!

Spider-Boy, Spider-Boy, does whatever a spider...oi!
As longtime Toyriffic readers know, I loves me some BootLEGOs! I'm constantly perusing eBay for those cheap, shipped-for-free minifigs of characters that LEGO can't or won't make, or copies of those LEGO has made but are too expensive for a man of my limited means.
I've seen some crazy minifigs, and the only thing that surprises me anymore when it comes to bootLEGOs is the fact that they can STILL surprise me!
Case in point: Spider-Boy!
Spider-Boy didn't come with that gun, it's LEGO, but he did come with the web, and a little clear piece so he can hold the web in his hand as if he's shooting it from his wrist. The only problem: as any longtime Spider-Boy can attest, Spider-Boy doesn't have wrist-mounted web shooters. He has a web-shooting gun! DUH!
So yeah, the Chinese BootLEGOers have begun to tap the genius that is the Amalgam Universe. That so very nineties of crossovers that combined DC and Marvel characters and stories into all new and sometimes exciting characters! Can we get a Dark Claw, please?!?!
This is the first time I've experienced a bootLEGO minifig with 'poofy-paint' tampos. Not sure if this is how the minifig was meant to be or if I got an 'off' figure, but it's kind of cool. I like to think that the weird Amalgam Universe is full of stuff like poofy superhero symbols. Because NINETIES and EXTREME!
"Sigh. What am I going to do now? J. Jonah said he'd fire me if I didn't get pics of...dafuq?!?!"

BootLEGO Jokers HA HA HA HA!
| "The pen is truly mightier than the sword. But I left my pen in my other coat." |
Jack Nicholson's 'mime' Joker from the 1989 Batman movie! You really get the impression when looking at this minifigure that this is how The Joker would have looked had Tim Burton not held back a bit on his first Batman outing. The minifigure came with a standard LEGO Joker hairpiece but there's no point in having that piece when you have the top hat! He also came with a sword, I assume since LEGO doesn't make a feather quill.
The BootLEGOers often go further than one would think they need to, considering the fact that they are making these figures illegally and selling them for pennies. Mime Joker is no exception, as he includes tails for his fancy coat!
Another BootLEGO Joker new on the scene is Bat-Joker!
Bat-Joker comes with a grappling gun/hook, two faces printed on his head (under the cowl he's Leto Joker, complete with 'Damaged' tattoo on his forehead.) and printing details galore all over the minifig. Another BootLEGO I couldn't live without!
You can find these guys (and more) on eBay for waaay cheaper than your official LEGO minifigure. I'm not saying you shouldn't be buying official LEGO minifigures, you should, but when things like these don't exist in any official form, well, a man's gotta do what a man's gotta do.

Hotwheels Boom Car :: 2017 New Release
I spotted this 2017 new release Hotwheels Cannon Car, aptly named the 'Boom Car', at Target the other day and couldn't walk away from it. I have a Duplo Clown and Circus Cannon that I simply adore, and while this Hotwheel would have been a great car to have on it's own, it was actually designed to hold (and even fire) a LEGO minifigure!
As you can see, the front is open to hold a minifig, and the explosive plunger serves as a handle for the minfigures.
The red, white and blue color scheme is not only patriotic, but also perfectly matches the New 52 Harley Quinn LEGO minifigure!
The back of the cannon is also open, with the idea that you flick the minifigure with your finger to send them flying! It does work, although try as I might I was unable to get a decent photograph of the action. You'll just have to take my word for it, and if you find the car, invest the dollar to do it yourself!
The Boom Car pairs great with this version of Harley, and will be displayed with her for the indefinite future! I hope Hotwheels releases multiple color variations so I can load up more of my Harley and Joker minifigs and take on Gotham City with a Boom Car Army.
Hotwheels has released a few of their cars with minifigs in mind, but the Boom Car is the first with an 'action feature' in mind. After shooting these pictures, I remembered the LEGO Stuntman that came out a few years ago and realized he'd also pair great with this car. Various clowns and other minfigs will also go great with this one. If you're a fan of Hotwheels and LEGO minifigs, I can't think of a single reason you shouldn't own this car.

LEGO Batman Movie Blind Bag Minifigs In Stores NOW!
The LEGO Batman Movie Blind Bag Minifigures aren't officially scheduled for release until January, but word got out a couple days before Christmas that Targets across the land were letting them hit shelves. I ran out and, via the squeeze method, found my two 'must-haves' and grabbed a couple more to surprise myself, and boy is this a great series! I'll be collecting them all at a relatively liesurly pace now that I have the two I couldn't live without. Who are those two? Read on, true believer...
I ended up with Red Hood and Nurse Harley (my must-haves) as well as James Gordon, Calculator, and Pink Batman! As with all LEGO blind bagged minifigures, there is a dot-code on the back of the packages, but I find that frustrating and unreliable, and simply squeeze the packages to find the piece or pieces unique to a specific figure. For Red Hood I felt for that massive dome, and for Harley those pig-tails are unmistakable. We'll look at those two last, and SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS: If you don't want to know who Red Hood is under his red hood, then turn away before you get to the bottom of the page!
First up is Calculator. I like this guy because he's a great unexpected villain, who ever would have expected a Calculator minifig? My only gripe is that his visor says 07734 instead of 58008. I'll have to make a custom visor methinks.
Under the visor, Calculator has a sinister grin MWAHAHAHAHAAA! To find Calculator via the squeeze method, feel for that massive backpack/shoulder-piece and confirm via the helmet or the little square piece that makes the 'calculator' portion of his chest-piece.
Commissioner James Gordon is great, and the first Gordon minifig I have in my collection. An integral part of any good Batman story, James Gordon was long missed in my minifig world. Gordon comes with a Joker 'wanted' poster and your generic LEGO walkie-talkie part that's been around for decades. Feel for those to confirm you have yourself a Jim.
Fairy Batman. Of all the bat variants in the LEGO Batman movie entourage, this one has to be the best. One word: Tutu. Feel for that, the wand and/or the wings to be sure you have this wonderful pixie-Bat. Bonus: a pink cowl to re-create that episode of the Adam West series about the radioactive cowl.
HHHEEELLLLOOOOOOO NURSE! I'm sure it comes as no surprise that I needed the Nurse Harley minifigure the most. I adore the LEGO Batman movie Harley Quinn design, that hair is amazing!
The nurse hat is removable too!
Finding Harley is all about feeling for the hair. The 'clipboard' piece will further confirm you have the crazy candy-striper in your grasp.
Lastly...SPOILER WARNING IF YOU DON'T WANT TO KNOW WHO IS UNDER THE RED HOOD'S HOOD IN THE LEGO BATMAN MOVIE!!!!!
Okay, you've been warned...
The LEGO Batman blind bagged Red Hood is a thing of absolute beauty. The perfect little classic Red Hood, he has that wonderful dome, a bow tie, a red cape and a couple uzis.
Red Hood is even wearing a tuxedo. I wouldn't have thought in a million years LEGO would have any reason to make a classic Red Hood! I can't wait to see what part, if any, he plays in the movie. Flashback perhaps?
And underneath that hood hides...
HHHARRRRLEEEEY!!!!!!
Kidding, kidding.
Under the Red Hood hides...
...Red Hood. More questions than answers here. Will Jason Todd Red Hood be in the LEGO Batman movie, and will he be dressed as classic Red Hood? Only time will tell.
Regardless, the Red Hood is (Harley Quinn not withstanding) the best of the LEGO Batman blind bag series in my humble opinion. Feel for that dome, you can't mistake it for anything else in the series.
That's all for today, kids. I'll be grabbing more myself in the future, but I'm glad I won't feel any pressure or jealousy as I read about others finding them, and I won't be sad if I come across an empty or overly picked over box at the store.
In the meantime I bid you all 'happy hunting'!

Who BootLEGOs The Watchmen?
Well, I don't know exactly who bootlegs The Watchmen, but they exist and can be bought off eBay from China for dirt cheap and shipped free (at least until Dumold Chump gets his way. Get yer bootLEGOs while you still can, America!)
I've wanted a Rorschach minifig for ever now, so when he popped up during one of my eBay BootLEGO searches I had to bite. I would have been fine with just Rorschach, but the price of the whole series was only a bit more costly than an official LEGO minifig, so I figured 'what the heck.'
And I'm glad I did! this series (well, with the exception of one) is extraordinary. Top quality bootLEGOs right here!
They went the extra mile on Adrian Veidt, giving him a thick suede-like cape and shoulder pads with printing on the back and front. Does LEGO make a lynx, or perhaps Playmobil or Schleich would have one that would be proportionally correct for this little guy!
The Comedian is exceptional as well, with his cigar and even his smiley button on his lapel. His shoulder pads are also painted on. And he comes with a rifle, for commie and/or Kennedy killing good times.
Dr. Manhattan. I didn't think I'd love this one as much as I do, but look at that face. LOOK AT IT! The only missed opportunity is the lack of a no-shorts option.
Nite-Owl II. Okay, this one was phoned-in. I wonder if there were plans for a separate cowl piece that was scrapped for the off-center paint job? They could have at least given him a cape! Ugh!
Nite-Owl's former partner Rorschach, however, is an absolute beauty and worth the price of admission alone. He has a great velvety coat and a grappling gun. I love this little weirdo!
Silk Spectre is ok, the face is a bit weird but the design on the body is spot-on (if a bit more green than yellow).
The Watchmen BootLEGO set is a ridiculous and amazing bunch of minifigs that I recommend for everyone who is a fan of the iconic comic book storyline! They're well made and of the highest bootleg quality.
Who watches the Watchmen? It could be YOU!

Dia De Los Muertos Monster High Skelita Mega Bloks Minifig
Just in time for this year's Dia de Muertos (or Dia de los Muertos depending on how white you are) celebration, I found the Mega Bloks version of Monster High's Skelita Calaveras at Toys R Us.
I'm a far bigger fan of the Mega Bloks buildable minifig Monster High toys than I am the dolls. Of course the dolls are dolls, so there's that, but I did buy quite a few for my oldest daughter back when they were first released. Beyond the difference in dollies and minifigs, I think the minifig aesthetic works better for these ladies. Their heads aren't as proportionally huge and their limbs aren't as proportionally stick-thin in minifig form. To me the minifigs look a lot better.
Regardless of my complaints about the physical design of the Monster High dolls, I've always loved the character designs themselves. Once the line got past your standard werewolves and vampires, they really started to branch out and bring some clever and unique concepts to form. Skelita is one of the best, with her skeleton/sugar skull design and Mexican heritage making her a real stand-out character concept.
As with all the Monster High Mega Bloks minifigs, Skelita comes with that silly coffin shaped cell phone or Die-Pad or whatever the heck it is, a bracelet, a necklace, and is made out of interchangeable parts so you can mix and match your Monster High minifigs to your Dr. Frankenstein heart's content.

I've previously posted about the Monster High Mega Bloks Spectra Vondergeist and Venus McFlytrap from Series 1. I didn't pick up any from Series 2, although I was pretty tempted by a couple of them. Now that I have Skelita and another I picked up from Series 3 (to be blogged at a later date) I may have to just admit I collect little dollies and get a bunch more. Here's hoping the line continues and has a long and fruitful run! Viva la dollies!

The Adventures of Baby Rick Grimes :: Glen's Fate
Noooooooooo! Not Glen!
Well I hope you've enjoyed the Countdown to Halloween 2016 and all my ridiculous Adventure of Baby Rick Grimes posts. I know it's not quite Halloween, but it's Halloween weekend, and with Halloween on a Monday I'm not sure if I'll be getting in any more Adventures of Baby Rick Grimes before we return to your regularly scheduled programming.
Today's recreation of 'the moment' from the Season Premier of The Walking Dead Season 7 stars a Playmobil/Madball knockoff as Glen, a Lego minifig as Negan, and of course our intrepid Tomy wind-up toddler sheriff as Baby Rick Grimes. Take a bow, everyone!
If, unlike Negan, you'd rather kill time than beloved characters, be sure to visit all the participants in this years' Halloween Countdown at CountdownToHalloween.blogspot.com
Have a happy Halloween. Stay spooky!

Hail Hydra! Hydra Captain America BootLEGO minifig
There was a bunch of nerdrage a couple months ago about a storyline wherein Captain America revealed himself to be a Hydra agent all along. Then people actually probably read the SECOND part of a multi-part storyline and realized their panties bunched up for nothing. At least I assume that's what happened, as it happens so often with nerdrage.
In the interim, those fine folks at BootLEGO Central (aka China) released a Hydra Captain America minifig!
I can't say for certain, but I believe this is an original design (?) not appearing in any specific canon? Correct me if I'm wrong. I know the bootLEGOers often steal...err..ahem...borrow liberally from fan made customs as well, so perhaps this design was from one of those. Anyways, as always it cost mere pennies on the dollar on eBay so yay me.
The shield with the Hydra symbol really sells this guy, and alone is worth the price of admission.

BootLEGO New 52 Poison Ivy Minifig
Another BootLEGO minifig for my collection, the New52 version of Poison Ivy!
I've never been a fan of the face-vines on this iteration of Poison Ivy. They just make the design look too busy. But I like the foliage-on-black body suit. This Poison Ivy minifig captures that effect nicely. She also came with a single vine accessory. Found on eBay for CHEAP!

Suicide Squad Harley Quinn BootLEGO Minifig
Suicide Squad Harley Quinn BootLEGO - this is the type of thing I live for. I love Harley Quinn and I love BootLEGOs when they give us something LEGO can't or won't create, and when the two come together it's a thing of pure beauty!
Another high quality BootLEGO of unknown manufacture, Margot Robbie's Harley Quinn from the upcoming Suicide Squad movie has two faces printed on her head, the second blowing a bubble! This is just one of those fun design aspects the bootleggers threw in of their own volition, proving that even though these things are as illegal as heck from a licensing and copyright perspective, bootleggers are clever artists too and may have a soul afterall!
I forgot to get a pic of it, but the back of her jacket says 'Property of Joker' and as you can see her shirt says 'Daddy's Lil Monster' just like in the movie. Harley Quinn comes with a pistol and a brown stick that is supposed to be her baseball bat. LEGO makes a baseball bat, so I'll have to get an extra to give her, but until then the stick works just fine. her hair is also printed with the highlighted tips and ponytail holders. Tons of detail on this perfect little minfig!
I absolutely can't wait to see Suicide Squad and am thankful the BootLEGOers are also apparently smitten by Harley's first live action appearance on the big screen. There's also a Jared Leto Joker BootLEGO minifig available, but I haven't jumped on that one yet.
