The Return Of Friday Night Is Rockabilly Night 163

Charlie Feathers is one of the rockabilly greats. This song from the late 50s sounds like it was recorded in a garden shed but the singing rings out loud and clear. Like The Loft and Travis years after him, it's not really a song about the rain but about a girl who done gone and left.

The Return Of Friday Night Is Rockabilly Night 146

Has it been three weeks since the last Friday night rockabilly posting? Ok, on we go with the series that refuses to die. This is the massively influential Charlie Feathers and one of his less well-known songs, from Rare And Wild, a Charlie Feathers compilation that does what it says.

The Return Of Friday Night Is Rockabilly Night 72

Last week's rockabilly post got clobbered by the DMCA, which I thought was a bit odd for a song released back in 1956.

Tonight's offering is from Charlie Feathers, a man who played rockabilly though this one is more hillbilly blues. The kind of low key song you can stick on the end of a mixtape after building up to dancefloor madness beforehand.

The Return Of Friday Night Is Rockabilly Night 9

Charlie Feathers with Bottle To The Baby from 1957, in which Charlie discovers that if he's staying out on the town and not getting in until 4am, he's going to then have to rock some more- rock that baby to sleep, give it some milk, and begin to think about settling down. What's more, if he wants any kind of action with Mrs Feathers when he gets in from the pub he's going to have to help with the kids first. A lesson that even pioneering country/rockabilly stars have to learn.
