Dub Tuesday

Tuesday calls for dub, dunno why, it just does. This is a recording of Radioactive Man's dub dj set supporting Pitch Black in London in July. Over the course of an hour and a half it goes deep into dub and echo, rimshot and strange smelling smoke, including Sly and Robbie, Grace Jones, Lee Perry, Ini Kamoze, Adrian Sherwood, Colourbox, Aswad, Toots and The Maytals, Johnny Osbourne, Peaking Lights and Dub Syndicate. Highly recommended.

Two new tracks for your Saturday enjoyment. This new ep, Confluence Of Torrents, from Justin Robertson's Deadstock 33s is a deep and dark delight, full of acidic squiggles, throbbing bass and the smell of dry ice.



Acid Ted posted this the other day and I love it- a new one from Radioactive Man (former Swordsman Keith Tenniswood). Simple drum machine rhythm, a driving bassline, some bleeps and bloops, a mournful synth line and an air that sounds like it was recorded live.

One Lone Sworsdman Keith Tenniswood released a very good electro album in the early 00s in his Radioactiveman guise; nice synth sounds, clattering beats, masses of bass.

This Is No Game Played By A Man Living In White Houses

We haven't had a great deal from Mr. Weatherall here recently so let's correct that with this post- a Weatherall remix of Radioactive Man's Fed-Ex To Munchen. Radioactive Man is/was Keith Tenniswood, the non-Weatherall half of Two Lone Swordsmen. Keith's second album Booby Trap was a full on electro album released in 2003. Closing track Fed-Ex To Munchen had some lovely throbbing synths and the enigmatic vocals of Lali Puna's Valerie Trebeljahr. For the remix Weatherall kept the vox, removed the synths and added live sounding double bass and one fingered keyboard playing, for a late-night, after hours, jazz club kind of feel. At the time I almost wore out my copy of the vinyl and this remix still sounds really good eight years later.

'Four Dead Monks' by Red Snapper (jazz/techno) remixed by Radioactive Man (Keith Tenniswood, One Lone Swordsman), from an album of remixes of Red Snapper tracks called 'Redone' (2003). Very nice electro-techno machine music, bings and boings in all the right places.
