There's a lot to enjoy in The Way It Is- those extended piano lines and shifts in tempo, the verses about the civil rights movement, the divisions between rich and poor and black and white and the 1964 Civil Rights Act, and (not least) the chorus imploring you/ us not to accept things the way they are.
