The Return of Friday Night Is Rockabilly Night 145
Imelda May has been doing the chat shows promoting a new song and presumably a new album too. A few years ago Imelda and her band played a few radio sessions and often included their take on The Johnny Burnette's Trio's The Train Kept A Rollin', one of the cornerstones of rockabilly. This one is from a BBC Radio London session and is blistering.
Considering this has been a short week, it's felt like a long week. Join me for a drink if you like.

The Return Of Friday Night Is Rockabilly Night 63
Some modern rockabilly tonight, just for a change from all the older 50s stuff I've posted recently- rockabilly revivalist Imelda May has a great voice, an authentic sounding rockabilly band and is much better than you might think. This is her rip-roaring cover version of Tainted Love, originally by Gloria Jones and famously covered by Soft Cell.

Friday Night Is Rockabilly Night 26
Back after a fortnights absence this week's rockabilly action comes from Dublin courtesy of Imelda May. She's done Later With Jools Holland and supported all kinds of big bands (big as in famous rather than big as in Glen Miller), but we won't hold either against her. I got this free on a magazine cd recently, and it's definitely got the rockabilly spirit and sound. She's a sneaky freak mind...
