EUROPÄISCHE JAZZNACHT FÜSSEN "1993/1994/1995 TEIL 1"

The "König Ludwig Lied" is a traditional song which came up shortly after the mysterious death of king Ludwig II from Bavaria.
Lyrics vary sometimes - occaisonally with a strong incriminating political content.
But it is also a quite 'kitschy' song which has also connotations to a superficial view of Bavaria and its history/customs.

TONY OXLEY CELEBRATION ORCHESTRA - GÜTERSLOH, GERMANY (May-15-1993)

Recently uploaded by request for a friend, another transcendent set by the great musical Alchemist/Shaman Tony Oxley who is one of our very favourites here at IS.
For me this is transformative ritual urban folk music, for a decaying civilization.
FM BROADCAST in brutaly vivid, superb sound quality ... almost terrifying in its intensity.

Enjoy!!!!

MANFRED SCHULZE BLÄSER QUINTETT "CHORAL-KONZERT" (AMIGA, 1988)

Another gem from Manfred Schulze.
An already almost forgotten musician with a highly original vision. Too little recordings were issued and fewer are still available. Hopefully someone will reissue this and other LPs from Amiga. For the time being...

JAZZ-ORCHESTER der DDR (AMIGA, 1988)

Two LPs with Conny Bauer respectively Manfred Hering as leader. As far as I know the only recordings by a Free Big-Band from the DDR.
About one year later the wall came down and the musicians had to face not only an economical situation quiet different. For the majority of the East-Germans , who endured the five-year-plans et.al., BMW, Prada and Marlboro became far more important than some "esoteric" sounds. Very soon it became obvious that for most fans Free Jazz was more of a social thing (Free Jazz = Freedom) than a genuine artform.
Some of the former advocates are even listening to schlager or similar today - and this is no supposition or bias but a simple observation.
It seems this LP was 'washed' away by history - it's release in 1989 wasn't helpful apparently.
