NDR JAZZ WORKSHOP NO.17 "BIG SOUND KOLLER" (1961)

This NDR Jazz Workshop was in the collection of Rudi Fuesers. First I didn't realise what it was as the cd-r has almost no information on the cd or booklet.
But I took it home for a try - and found to my astonishment an unknown workshop!
Obviously it was in his collection as Fuesers is playing on it.
Soundwise this workshop is probably the best I've ever heard.

Ack van Rooyen, trumpet & fluegelhorn
Kurt Sauter, trumpet & bass trumpet
Rolf Schneebiegl, trumpet & horn
Klaus Mitcherle, trumpet & fluegelhorn
Rudi Fuesers, trombone & bass trombone

Recorded January 27, 1961 at Großer Sendesaal, Funkhaus Hamburg, Hamburg, Germany.

At least two more titles were performed: "Workshop After Hours" (7:49) and "D'Accord" (6:01).
Hans Gertberg announces "D'Accord" after "Black Cats" as a trio of piano, bass and drums...obviously not included in the cd-r I inherited from Rudi Fuesers.

Note: On "Tune For Antibes" only quintet. On "Waltz With Me" solos by Koller, Van Rooyen and Schneebiegl on horn.
On "Black Cats" two tenors played by Koller and Flierl.

Collective personnel according an article by Dieter Zimmerle in Germany's Jazz Podium 1969/01.(thanks to BJ for the scan)

Don Cherry-Togetherness 1965 (Inner City Vers 1976)

I don't imagine that there are many fans of this music who don't have this indispensable minor masterpiece  by,one of the greatest bands of their day.... it is as far as i know out of print , although if memory serves  it has been bootlegged on CD.

A live Parisian recording of dubious provenance  originally released on the Italian Durian label ,  this predates  THE  marvelous Symphony for improvisers , on which Cherry employed an expanded version of this basic quintet...With Ed Blackwell Cherry's friend and favourite drummer instead of Romano who plays on this.
superb music in less than high fidelity  .
ENJOY!!..

PS- i'm posting it by way of experimenting with a suitable file host  since quite a few people are struggling to use Mega.... basically this upload is a shot in the dark .

i would appreciate any feedback relating to the accessibility of  Mixturecloud

2. Main Lines (A. von Schlippenbach)    24:48

Recorded on 21st October, 1967 at Stadthalle, Donaueschingen, Germany.

Note 1: The instrumentation for "Main Lines" is taken from the Atatvistic CD - the instruments given in [...] were given in the text-file from the cd-r which I got through tradeing. My appreciation goes to G. - thank you for pointing out the discrepancy!
Note 2 : I have posted this recordings in the old comment section in November 2010 but it went nearly unrecognised if one counts the number of downloads...Enjoy.
