Women In Horror Month wins a coveted Rondo Award

The Rondo Hatton Classic Horror Awards were created by David Colton and Kerry Gammill at the Classic Horror Film Boards in 2002. The awards are fan-based, and have no connection to any commercial sponsor. Anyone in fandom can vote or propose nominees.

The 'Rondo' award itself, shown at right, features a bust sculpted by illustrator Kerry Gammill, and cast by modeler Tim Lindsey.

The statuette is a miniature version of the bust of Hatton seen in the Universal film, HOUSE OF HORRORS (1946). The Rondos have been praised by recipients for their quiet beauty and evocation of classic horror.

Nominees for the Rondo are selected from suggestions by horror fans, pros and enthusiasts offered all year at the CHFB. Each year's nominees are finalized by classic horror fan David Colton (taraco@aol.com), with the help of more than 20 classic horror fans from around the world, and with expertise in all parts of fandom.

Today, the Rondos have been announced and proven themselves to truly be the voice of the fans. It is with great pleasure that I announce WOMEN IN HORROR RECOGNITION MONTH has won a coveted Rondo for Best Fan Event. We'd like to congratulate the wonderful woman behind the event, Hannah Neurotica, for her outstanding contributions to horror and gender equality. Congratulations to everyone everywhere that took part in the Women In Horror Celebrations. Everyone who wrote an article, reviewed a film, had a film festival, attended a festival, submitted to a festival, threw an event, or gave blood. We're honored to have been a small part of such a grand event.

Can't wait until next year... ;)

Bloody Best!

The Violence And Gore Gets It's Recognition In Vegas!

DEAD HOOKER IN A TRUNK made her Las Vegas premiere at the Pollygrind Film Festival in 2010 and we were unbelievably honored to have been awarded 'Favorite Feature', 'Best Screenplay', and Everette Hartsoe's 'Bad Girl Award'.

As if that wasn't enough of a privilege, I just found out today that the Polished Apple Awards aka The Pollies were given out to nearly 30 films for their contributions and accomplishments.

Amongst the winners - check the whole rad list and article here - was a very flattering and incredibly generous award to DEAD HOOKER IN A TRUNK --

There was a huge focus on the film to have great gore and violence despite the modest budget. To have this recognized and appreciated means the world to us. We had an amazing group of people come together to selflessly make this movie look seriously cool in the realms of violence and gore. Thank you to everyone who checked out the film and dug what they saw.

Jen and I are total horror nerds and as young girls we based 'good horrors to watch' as films with high action and gore sequences, so it rocks that DEAD HOOKER IN A TRUNK (buy the DVD filled with rad extras here) would get a shout-out like this.

Thank you, you the rad people at Pollygrind, for bestowing this great title upon us! Thank you to Chad Clinton Freeman who first brought HOOKER to the Pollygrind - it made her smile. Every hooker loves Vegas and the Pollygrind Film Fest is just one more reason.
