"One can quibble with American Mary on numerous points, and it's easy to imagine studio executives "noting" the film to death. Mary's backstory remains opaque; the character of Billy hovers somewhere between thug and white knight; and it's hard to believe that the underground culture of "body modification" manages to flourish without a frightening number of casualties from post-surgical complications. But all this is beside the point. Effective horror movies aren't about realism, but about establishing an alternate dreamworld that feels real while it lasts. The Soskas have done that with American Mary in a manner that stands favorable comparison with acknowledged masters such as Clive Barker and David Cronenberg. Highly recommended."

Hey North Americans - you can see American Mary in the theatres, on VOD, and even take her home this summer. Brand spanking new release news.

"Directed by “Twisted Twins” Jen & Sylvia Soska, Xlrator Media recently announced yesterday that American Mary (read our review) will open in limited theaters May 31. Already on home video in the UK, we now have the US secondary market dates for you. The film will be available on VOD on May 16th, 2013 (that’s two weeks before the theatrical release) and on DVD June 18th, 2013. No word yet on if there’s a Blu to be released concurrently with the DVD."

American Mary Takes Third & Fourth Place

Just saw this. A huge thank you to everyone who bought an American Mary DVD or BluRay. This is an unspeakable honour to us and the team that came together for this very different film.

Thank you for making this kind of success possible and proving that there is a place for non-remakes/sequels in the horror market.

UPDATE: Since posting this, an hour later MARY moved up to 2nd place and is in 1st place this morning. You guys made that happen. A huge humble thanks for making it possible.

American Mary Hits Germany!

Springtime for Soskas! ATTENTION GERMANY!! Big American Mary news from Universal Pictures!

Some days ago we reported you over the British DVDs and Blu rays of the film “American Mary” with Katharine Isabelle.  The film is the second feature film of Jen and Sylvia Soska - also well known as The Twisted Twins - their first film being “Dead Hooker in a Trunk”.   

Universal Pictures announced now that the film in the 1st quarter 2013 in Germany will appear on DVD and Blu ray.  In addition the film of already the FSK was produced to the test.  With a running time of 98:10 minutes (25fps), the film received an age release from 18 years.  This corresponds the running time out of the BBFC database so that one can come from the ungeschnittenen film frame.   

The film should appear on the 28th of March 2013.
