Jazz et Tango

 

 Julio Cortázar a toujours entretenu un rapport intéressé et particulier avec la musique, et plus spécifiquement le jazz et, naturellement, le tango de son pays natal, l'Argentine. Ainsi dans les "Entretiens avec Omar Prego" en 1984, quelques semaines avant son décès.

Motion Trio

The amazing Polish Motion Trio is an accordion trio founded in 1996 by Janusz Wojtarowicz, leader and author of most of the compositions.

Juan d'Arienzo (1900-1976), violin player and famous tango conductor, using a strong staccato with 5 bandoneon' players.

& an anecdote by Joe Vasquenz of Ohio:

"While reading about your restoration of D'Arienzo's music, I was reminded of a story my dad told me involving Juan D'Arienzo. My dad (Sal Vasquenz) went to the "clubs" on Saturday nights to dance, actually they were huge neighborhood recreation centers that on weekends had live tango orquestras for dancing. The real bands like D'Arienzo, de Angelis, etc., not wannabe bands. Because Buenos Aires was and is so large, and there were so many of these milongueras going on at one time, the orquestra leaders had 2, maybe 3 bands going at one time, in different centers, and he would spend a couple of hours or so at each one and then move on to the next. Anyway, my dad liked to dance valses, as well as tangos. 
This one particular night, D'Arienzo was playing in La Boca, a very rough area at the time (I don't know how it is today), and all the orquestra played were tangos. After D'Arienzo had shown up for a while, my dad went up to him to request a vals. D'Arienzo told him that he would like to oblige and under different circumstances it wouldn't be a problem. Then he asked my dad to take a close look to see the kind of characters that were on the dance floor. Then D'Arienzo said, "Do you know what these guys would do to me and my orquestra if I played a vals?" They both smiled at each other, my dad understanding perfectly that no valses were going to be played that night."

 

46 bis

En 1988, Pascal Baes réalise un court métrage 16mm en noir et blanc intitulé "46 bis".
Interprété par les danseuses Laurence Rondoni et Sara Denizot, ce film expérimental est tourné en pixilation, technique d'animation où des acteurs réels ou des objets sont filmés image par image.
Pascal Baes réalisera par la suite de nombreux films expérimentaux dont le non moins célèbre "Topic", tourné à Prague en 1989. 

In 1988, Pascal Baes directed a short film 16mm in black and white entitled "46 bis".
Interpreted by dancers Laurence Rondoni and Sara Denizot, this experimental film was shot in pixilation, an animation technique where real actors or objects are shot frame by frame.
Pascal Baes subsequently made numerous experimental films, including the notorious "Topic", shot in Prague in 1989. 

"46 bis", magique film (devenu culte) des années 80, sur le célèbre tango "Ana El Owerka" du chanteur juif algérien Lili Boniche, a été tourné dans une cour de la rue de Belleville à Paris, au N° 46bis, un jour de pluie. 

"46 bis", a movie of the 80s which became cult, on the famous tango "Ana El Owerka" of the Algerian Jewish singer Lili Boniche, was shot in a courtyard of the street of Belleville in Paris, a rainy day.

Pixilation: terme créé par le réalisateur canadien Norman MacLaren en 1959 pour son film "Neighbours" à partir du slang americain "pixilited" = démarche grotesque, saoul, saccadé, avec des discontinuités.
