Longing

 "Longing" is a new album by our friend David Coulter published by Coriolis Sounds.

This new work by multi-instrumentalist David Coulter with contributions from Julia Kent and Simon Fisher Turner was composed to accompany the "Walks of Sadness": an exploration of the lengthening and stretching of time inherent in the process. 
The accompanying film, "Damsels without stress", is a study of a blue damselfly (Calopterygidae) by Cédrick Eymenier.

"I was taking every day during the Spring of 2020 as the World was spinning us in a very different and unexpected direction. I experienced terrible loss during this time and the sense of longing for my family and the isolation I was feeling became overwhelming. "LONGING" is an exploration of slowness and stillness. A moment of reflection. A study in time. In an attempt to remain sane and connected I forwarded the initial longform piece to friends Julia Kent and Simon Fisher Turner and invited them to respond. Within days they had both sent me back the beautiful interventions they had made. This piece is the thing that emerged from our experiment. A sonic world in which the listener is allowed to wander with ones thoughts and memories for an hour." David Coulter 

About Cédrick Eymenier's movie

"The film was shot along the Ruisseau du Lingas (the Lingas Stream) in the Forêt du Lingas, near Mont Aigoual, in the Cévennes National Park, which is part of the Massif Central. From the mountain’s southern slopes the Le Garonne River flows eastward into the Atlantic, of which the Lingas is one of many tributaries. The presence of these primordial insects in such a crystal clear stream is an indication of the health of the region’s aquatic ecosystem." Jeff Rian 

 

 

"Longing"  est le nouvel album de notre ami David Coulter, publié par Coriolis Sounds. Cette nouvelle œuvre du multi-instrumentiste David Coulter, avec la contribution de Julia Kent et Simon Fisher Turner, a été composée pour accompagner "Walks of Sadness": une exploration de l'allongement et de l'étirement du temps inhérents à ce processus. Le film qui l'accompagne ,"Damsels without stress", est une étude autour d'une libellule bleue (Calopterygidae) de Cédrick Eymenier. 

 

"Au printemps 2020, j'ai vécu chaque jour, tandis que le monde nous faisait prendre une direction très différente et inattendue. J'ai vécu une terrible perte pendant cette période, et le sentiment de nostalgie pour ma famille et l'isolement que je ressentais sont devenus accablants. "LONGING" est une exploration de la lenteur et de l'immobilité. Un moment de réflexion. Une étude du temps. Pour tenter de rester sain d'esprit et connecté, j'ai transmis une première longue pièce musicale à mes amis Julia Kent et Simon Fisher Turner et les ai invités à y répondre. En quelques jours, ils m'ont tous deux renvoyé leurs magnifiques interventions. Cette pièce est le fruit de notre expérience. "Le film a été tourné le long du ruisseau du Lingas, dans la Forêt du Lingas, près du mont Aigoual, dans le parc national des Cévennes, qui fait partie du Massif central. Depuis le versant sud de la montagne, la Garonne coule vers l'est et se jette dans l'Atlantique, dont le Lingas est l'un des nombreux affluents. La présence de ces insectes primordiaux dans un cours d'eau aussi cristallin témoigne de la santé de l'écosystème aquatique de la région." Jeff Rian

 "Such is life" is the new musical opus (september 2023) by Jeff Rian, essayist and musician, composer and guitar player, editor and writer for the magazines Purple Fashion and The Purple Journal, regularly contributing to the magazine Artforum. 

 

He is the author of "Lexicon revolver", "Purple Years" (Onestar Press)

"Recordings arise out of necessity. Why does anyone record anything, take a picture, sign a document? This recording came together from my personal connection with Cedrick Eyemenier of Coriolis Sounds who made a choice… I rehearsed 14 songs with Canadian drummer Marty Vickers and Australian bassist Gerard McFadden. I didn’t tell them what to play or how to play the songs… Cedrick’s English friend James S. Taylor took apart the basic tracks, added percussion, more drums, keyboards, and harmonium, and transformed the songs, asking me to speak an number of them, which I’d never done before… I didn’t tell anyone what they should do. It was a total collaboration, I happened to be the one with the songs and words. We made it together." Jeff Rian

Marseille's sunset

Un splendide "plan séquence" d'un coucher de soleil sur le vieux port de Marseille.

Ce film "coucher de soleil" est le cinquième d'une série produite par le label Coriolis Sounds sous la direction artistique de l'artiste Cédrick Eymenier.
Différents réalisateurs y ont contribué avec les musiques de Cats Hats Gowns.
Ce film-ci a été réalisé par Fatima Bianchi en 2015.


A real amazing "plan-séquence" to catch the sunset on the harbour of Marseille (France).

This sunset is the fifth of a serie produced by Coriolis Sounds record label which is managed by the french artist Cédrick Eymenier.
The film-makers are different and all the musical scores are composed by Cats Hats Gowns.
That Marseille's  movie was shot by Fatima Bianchi in 2015.

avec une musique originale de Sogar, artiste munichois, Jürgen Heckel de son vrai nom,

considéré comme l’inventeur de ce l’on appelle le glitch dans les musiques électroniques.

Sogar manipule des sons accidentels pour créer des textures mélodiques fragiles et aériennes. 

Ces sons ont pour source le son des guitares ou les bruits de la table de mixage, 

d’amplificateurs, câbles ou autres trouvailles sonores.

particularly "P ≠ 03 La Défense" with original music by Munich artist Sogar, Jürgen Heckel for his real name, regarded as the creator of what is called glitch in electronic music. Sogar manipulates accidental sounds to create ethereal melodic textures. These sounds are collected from guitars or the sounds of the mixer, amplifiers, wires or other devices' sounds.

Coriolis sounds

Le travail de l'artiste Cedrick Eymenier regroupe plusieurs domaines (organisateur de festival, commissaire d'expositions, environnements sonores...) mais est principalement celui d'un photographe et d'un réalisateur de plusieurs superbes films  traitant notamment de paysages citadins contemporains regroupés sous le générique "Platform". Pour les parties sonores de cette série, il fait appel à de nombreux musiciens internationaux comme Fennesz, Vladislav Delay, Steve Roden, Akira Rabelais, Stephan Mathieu entre autres.

The work of the artist Cedrick Eymenier who investigates several artistic fields is mainly that of a photographer and a director of several movies dealing in particular with urban sites across the world grouped under the name of  "Platform". For this serie, he invites many famous musicians (Fennesz, Vladislav Delay, Steve Roden, Akira Rabelais, Stephan Mathieu ...) to create the musical score.

Musicien, Cedrick Eymenier est également producteur artistique depuis 10 ans avec son label "Coriolis Sound" qui regroupe quelques artistes sonores basés autour de Montpellier en France. Entre autres  Lugano Fell, projet expérimental mené par James S. Taylor, le projet solo  "I am a Vowel" , et le trio "Cats Hats Gown"  dont il est un des membres.

Eymenier is also involved in music for 10 years  with his label "Coriolis Sound" which includes some sound artists located  around Montpellier in France. These includes Lugano Fell, an experimental project led by James S. Taylor, the solo project "I am a Vowel", and the trio "Cats Hats Gown" of which he is a member.

The duo PACE (One) is composed by Cédrick Eymenier & Palix.

The artist Cedrick Eymenier is a part of the band "Cats Hats Gowns", as well his main work is visual with pictures and the famous movies' serie of "Platform" .

In 2006, PACE (One) published a work called "Chroniques Turinoises" for an art show curated by "Purple" magazine at French Institute in Torino - Italy. 

For a live concert at Purple Institute in Paris in december 2004,

they played bass guitar and an electric vietnamese Dan Bau.
