Doing Some Partying!

We had some partying to do this
weekend ~ first the dogs had a great
time.   Chet arrived and remembered quite
well the dogbed in the kitchen ~ he and Opie
had a grand time.

Chet now takes up most of the dogbed ~ next time
he visits he will be bigger than Opie.

It was able to be coordinated to have everybody
home at one time for a very important
birthday  ~ not sure if the surprise was successful
or not but there was a house full celebrating!

Two sons and families = 14 celebrating mom's,
grandma's and great-grandma's birthday!

The big day isn't for a few days yet so there will
be plenty of time for more celebrating.

I am tackling a put off to long "To-Do Item" ~ last
fall I bought Christmas material to make stockings
to be hung here for our Christmas ~ 4 stockings
to do (now I will have to make an additional
one before this holiday season) ~ my mom
was my teacher when I made one for
daughter a couple of years ago.... Will have
to see if I can put it all together.

Our weather here is beautiful today ~ in fact
I am headed to the great outdoors now!

Have a great day!

It Is Still Winter

After some dustings of snow, I think we have
more snow now than we have had
all season.

We had freight train winds yesterday ~ blowing
snow, melting, freezing all makes slippery
sidewalks and roads for a period of time.

Jacks' vet visit went well ~ for now we are
going to try an extensive deworming and some
antibiotics (horse pills) for 10-14 days.   That
boy is going to get 10 pills in the morning and
10 pills at night ~ wonder if he will still
like me after we are done? (probably better
than a needle)

Hopefully that will get him back on track, if
not then we are probably dealing with
Old Horse Gut and will have to try
to figure out some feeds for him.
Just like people ~ our stomachs sometimes
start to have issues as we get older.

It is vet season around here - everybody has
to get their spring check ups.   Dr. Jill will be
back in May to give the horses all of their
yearly updates.

And the dogs will be going in soon too!
Add that to the spring cleaning list!

Trying to Get in the Groove

Exercising, Eating Healthy, Spring
Cleaning, Lists and Lists ~
Hey Summer is Coming!

Trying to get going on all of the above!

We have gotten some rain and some snow ~
our colors are still pretty drab (all browns).

Last weekend, we scraped the horse lot by
the hay bale and barn ~ hopefully it will help
when the frost goes out so that it isn't so
poopy and muddy!

Our ol' boy, Jack, is going to be 28 years young
~ he has been a bit under the weather so is up
for a checkup this week.

Been trying to work on the Spring To Do List ~
done = oiling of the kitchen cupboards and
now the table (oiling helps to restore the finish
and fill in any scratches hopefully making
them last longer).

Yesterday (Monday) we had some snow in
the air ~ it covered the ground but it pretty
much melted... It is cool out ~ we are
ready for some warm weather again!

Snowmobile Season

We had no snowmobiling opportunities here in
Minnesota this season (although we kept on
hoping) ~ we had a vacation planned to the
BigHorns of Wyoming (which at times was a
bit iffy if we were going = snow)....

We made it there and back ~ there was snow,
it was quite warm in the mid-40's but we
made the best of it.   It was beautiful ~ I am
now convinced that each trip to that area will
be different and unique!

The area hadn't received snow for a few days
and there was none predicted ~ since the snow
was settled and some had some high traffic
we found that we could go almost anywhere
we pleased  (ie:  many of those meadows and
hills in a normal year would have way too
much snow on them that our Minnesota sleds
wouldn't be able to take them on)

It was our third trip to the area and my
brother-in-laws first (I think he was as
intrigued with it as we were last winter on our
first visit).

(Hubby and I)

The weather was so nice that we could ride,
stop ~ remove all that headgear etc and
sit and visit ~ an awesome time!

We didn't have much snow to start with ~ but
it is melting....

The first part of spring has arrived.
Hope you are enjoying the spring sunshine
in your part of the country!

I Don't Want to Go There

I hate computer problems ~ my current laptop
is from 2009.... it has been a great computer.

Occasionally I have had troubles but it always
seems to come out of it ~ today some start up
problems (more than I should have)....

I really like Windows 7 - I don't want
Windows 8.... I don't want to start over with
a new computer....

Fingers crossed that this oldie just keeps
plugging away but I better get a
plan in place!

A Spring Day Arrived

By sundown today ~ the water was running... it
won't last long this year because we don't have
much snow.

Spring arrived this weekend ~ today was
beautiful 40+ degrees, sweatshirt weather
at times, wet dogs, some mud starting
to show.

This week the weather is going to be
beautiful ~ I think some windows will
even get cleaned!

(at least the windows that the dogs have
had contact with through the winter).

Hope you are enjoying some of the warmth
that Mother Nature is handing out!

Thinking...

I had a friend say to me upon congratulating them
on a special day "it has been made up of mostly bad
but I guess some good ~ head shake ~ a whole
lot of bad things have happened"...

how sad that somebody cannot find some good
in the time spent...

I can personally say that (I suppose some would
say I have not had any tragedies in my life)
but that life has been good!

Pick yourself up by the boot strings and
make life great!

````````````````
My summer clothes are staring at me from the
closet ~ waiting to be moved to the
everyday closet...
Spring is coming - Kodi is starting to leave
little white fuzz'ies on the floor.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I am ready for the time charge - jump
ahead..... Ready for Spring.... ready for
a change in the season!

The Old El Tigre

Back in December - with the lack
of snow, I encouraged Hubby to pull the
old Arctic Cat El Tigre out of storage
and get it running again.

Here it is ~ covered and stored (pretty dusty,
dirty and covered with some bird poop) ~ the
cover did a good job but is now brittle and
will be trash.

There is some fading - some rust but overall
the old sled is in pretty good shape.

Dirty.... Grandpa Carl took a look ~ he worked
on all kinds of Arctic Cat sleds over the years.

One good thing is that the seat is in great
condition ~ some cleaning and adjustments
to the inside foam and the seat is perfect!

This sled is a 1976 El Tigre and is one of the
sleds that hubby used when he was younger.

From storage straight into the car wash.

A few nights and days of tinkering and lots
of cleaning .... and a list
of things to buy or upgrade (some for the Hay
Days event next fall)

Back to life ~ a little bit over a month
later and he had it running!

Maybe sometime we will take in an
old sled event.
