Silk Scarves

Fifty plus years ago my husband's father bought silk scarves while stationed in the Air Force in France. They were taken out of storage a few weeks ago so that I could take pictures of them. Dad L. doesn't remember much about the scarves accept that he purchased them while stationed in France.

In studying them, the scarves contain wordage in reference to city names and/or country names.

This scarf refers to the island "Terceira Azores" - in doing a bit of research - it is one of 9 islands known as the azores in the Atlantic Ocean. It appears this island is 18 miles long and 11 miles wide. Dad L. explained that while in the Air Force they would stop at the base on this island and fuel up.

Two other scarves referred to France and one refers to Africa. We sat and visited about these scarves and about the book where he has kept all his orders in (another story sometime) - The scarves were then folded back up neatly and returned to their safe space.
