What a Weekend!

The weekend was nice, very much

like spring.   It was sloppy and in

some places muddy.

It was a good time to try and

burn those piles we have left

from logging.

Whoever thought this would be
a January project.

1 Pile down and many to go!

~~~~~
There was a car wash going
on ~  In January!
Sunday the pasture looked like this
and melting
Weather (Like Spring)
 This week what a change in the
weather ~ it is a bit melty, mild and
alot like spring.
With the little bit melty the sidewalks
are icy (I think it is the 2nd time we
had to use salt).
Still haven't had the snowmobiles
out.
Project Pictures #3
Up through 1987 (what a project) going
through negatives.   Most pictures are
in a book (some 2x).  Remember back in
the day if
chose matte finish you got 2 or 3 prints.
I got to the point where I started books
or an inventory of each film.
This will be a good stopping spot (I feel
like I didn't get very far).
I need to organize the old old pictures I
have on my computer and then add in the
new ones I scanned.
I ordered a nice box to store Flash Drives
in ~ eventually I will need that.
~~~~

Most of the negatives have been

35mm negatives with the

following variety and different

cameras.

~~~~~
I remember using a 110 camera
like the following (internet pictures):
and I remember the Kodak 126
but not sure if I actually used
it much
In this batch,  I came across the
negatives from a Kodak disc camera,
they are a disk with really tiny
picture negatives.
So far just one film from this camera,
I am thinking it might have been
hubby's or his families.
~~~~

For the most part, I remember a
point and shoot 35 mm camera (vivitar
is in my memory) maybe I will some day
come across some of these old cameras
not remembering if I kept them.

At High School Graduation, I was gifted
from my aunt and uncle a Canon SLR
camera which pushed my photography
interests into more adventures.

Some  fun pictures found this
round:

My horse, Sunny 1982

Prom 1983, Mom made
my Gunne Sax dress

1983 Christmas

The Village of the
Smokey Hills (my first
job)

1985 Pig Sale at the Detroit Lakes Barn
Vern, Dad, Hubby and neighbor, Donny

1986 Christmas

1988 Hubby with our
Chow Chow dogs (Sheba and
TC was just baby).

Oh such memories!

Project Pictures #2

 The few days I was waiting for the

new light pad to come I went through

a small section of CD's.

*Miscellaneous CDs with pictures on them

because I would put the pictures on the

CD that I wanted to print taking the

CD to the store to print. (we no longer

have to do that).

*CDs of Christmas over the years

done by others

*CDs prepared by my sister and brother-

in-law as they completed them on

special family members with so many

priceless old photos.

I was surprised at the number of CDs

that no longer worked :(   that  isn't

good news.

There was a CD with videos on it,

Mom had a Flip Camera (I didn't remember

this but Hubby did).

There were some pictures that

caught my eye.

The year of 2009 was a popular year.

Lineman Son had been out of school
a couple of years and dating our
now daughter-in-law.

Niece, Renee, was just a little one.

And we had lots of snow at Christmas
time!

The light pad arrived and I located the tubs

in storage with the older photobooks. (this

will be helpful in comparing to negatives

and save some time, I hope).

(my house looks like a tornado has hit).

Brrr Minnesota

1.18.24

This is the 8th day of "Below Zero" temps ~

BRRR..    when it isn't windy it is tolerable.

We don't have much snow, just a covering.

Some of the ditches are full because

of the wind.

Winter 2024

 The wind is blowing what snow we
have into the ditches.

We don't have enough snow for
snowmobiling.   The snowmobile
trails are not yet being groomed and
our sleds are still in the trailer.

We haven't blown snow out of the
driveway yet.

It is cold ~ still a very cold
windchill.

Next week is predicted to be a
heatwave.

Still Cold, Day Off

The cold weather caused a change

of plans on my day off.

I had planned on meeting up with

a retired coworker.

It was also too cold for the

farrier to come.  (at -12) and

it was windy (visibility to the

north was poor).

~~~
So the day involved some
organizing, reviewing some photo
cds and I made two batches
of Strawberry-Rhubarb jelly.
A quick run to town ~ it is cold
and blustery out (I am happy the
plans were changed up).
Inside was good today!
**Heard from family in the
State of Louisiana ~ they have
freezing rain.
Weathering the Cold
Teens below but windchill is -33 Fahrenheit
-- It is just downright cold!
~~~

More work on going through some tubs

in storage.

Some supplies give me some crafty

ideas!

~~~
Saturday lunch out with family ~
celebrating a belated 40th
Wedding Anniversary (and some
catching up since we haven't
seen them in awhile).
~~~

Some real life tv shows ~

*20/20 Dru Sjodin - we shall

never forget and many things should

have been learned from the event

*Sounds of Freedom - leaves my

head spinning :(

~~~
Sleeping in
Taking the dogs out, so that they
don't dilly dally out in the cold.
Enjoying hot chocolate.
Staying in, staying warm!
Cold Cold
 Winter finally arrived or should
I say January with frigid temperatures
and the below zero windchills.
Today we had teens below and
colder windchills.
Somebody put her warm jacket
to good use but then
had to warm up on the couch  :)
I think she had a good nap there.
We are settled in for a long
cold weekend.
Project Pictures #1
1982 (Sunny ~ dad ~ me ~ Blue the dog)
 I have almost a lifetime of
negatives, pictures, videos, cd's
and more from a fabulous hobby
of photography!
~~~

In 2022, this project was going to

be the middle of winter "main event".

That is the year that dad had a heart

attack, so there were other things to do.

Winter of 2023 also found us busy.

~~~
There have been a number of cameras
that have been used (it will be interesting
to track the cameras and the results).
I have a closet that is one side full (upper
and lower) with photo/video memories
(that isn't pictures, it is the raw materials
before the pictures and VHS, movie film etc).
It is for the most part labeled and organized
by year and boxed accordingly.
This old 4-H fruit box is neatly packed
(stuffed) with negatives only from 1980
through 1995.
Mid-80's, I began noting what each set of
negatives was regarding and what each
print was by making a list and putting
it in a binder (my thought is - boy you
had a lot of extra time on your hands)  :)
~~~

The thought is even though organized
eventually nobody will want these negatives.
There has been a print (or more) at some
point in time.   Many of the prints are of
farm animals, dogs and horses well loved
but long gone, the neighbors
driveway, a puddle etc etc.

So we will start in the youngest of years
and work forward cleaning out those
negatives that our kids will have no
interest in (ie: pictures taken for school
projects, the numerous farm animal
pictures, black and white scenery etc).

Hubby said do what you want, as I
read through envelopes labeled with
their contents..... (yikes)

He did say well that set you should
hang onto.   :)

That is hard... what if there is
a good one in there...

So after a moment of research, I downloaded
a phone app and dug out a light pad I have.
Cool,  I can review the questionable
negatives and use the app for scanning.

It works!    The light pad I have isn't quite
the best so another moment of research
and I have a set up (inexpensive and well
worth it) that will be here in days.

Now when I get to our family's early years
where I know there are hand done scrapbooks
how will I determine what stays?  We will
do first things first and then see.   I suspect
I will keep everything grouped by year and
keep family (it will be the extra nobody has
interest items that will go this around).

stay tuned for next update...

Frosty Day

Today was a little frosty after
a dusting of snow last night.

Snow to brighten everything up ~

sure is pretty!

Catch Up Mode

We are in catch up "January" mode,

I think.   Which entails the finals of putting

Christmas away and cleaning which causes

some re-organizing.  I am going through

tubs as I put away Christmas, some things are

in a pile to go to a new home.   I also am

adding to my (would be nice to do

project pile).

Over the weekend we got some snow ~ so

I did put away some last minute items

that have been still sitting outside.

We were still able to take a ride on

the side by side up to the woods.

Next project...

Time to put away the Christmas

cards.

Birthday Cards 2023

Another year of trying to be creative

for those special days throughout

the year ~ for birthdays

I made a greeting on canvas,  then

used the back side to include a

message to the individual.

Here is what was sent out over

the year ~ it was fun!

Next an idea for 2024...

Learning About Fascia ~

At my annual physical, last fall, my

doctor suggested that I try myofascial

release therapy.

Fascia = the tissue that connects

your skin to the muscle and is one

big sheet over your body

(this was because of the numerous

aches and pains which end up being

non-injury related and most of

the time don't have an explanation).

I have determined over the last couple

of years that some of this is largely

due to all of the sitting I do.

~~~
I am half way through the recommended
plan and it does seem to be helping.
The after care will provide me with
information to do some of these
therapies at home with the option of
going in, if needed.
~~~

(Fingers crossed)

Happy New Year!

We did see the new year come in

this year!

New Year's Eve we visited with our

friends that sometimes come out

or we go out on the town ~ this year it

worked best to visit them at

their place!

We had a good visit and he said we

were "good therapy", I am sure it

was all of the laughing!

~~~~
The 1st day of the New Year was
spent like the rest of the weekend
putzing on Christmas stuff ~ some
cleaning and some adjustments
on the tractor.
And the day was perfect for a ride
up in the woods!  30+ degree
temps today.
That is all of the snow we
have ~  pretty much zilch!
