Looking Back at 2024

                                                 2024 In Review

New Year's Eve  2023, we brought in the

new year visiting friends, Dave & Gina.

~~~
No Snow - no snowmobiling.  The
sleds, this year, were not even
taken off of the trailer.
After getting settled in assisted living,
this year Hubby's mom moved to the
nursing home.   Dad followed after many
medical appts after falling on the ice.
Later in 2024,  they have settled in
to having the nursing staff care for
them.  They are doing well.
~~~~

One camping trip to

Huntersville, the end of June.

We got some four wheelin' in and

it was warm enough to tube the river.

~~~~
We did a weekend (right as school
got out) with the 4 oldest grands.
We had lots of fun ~
Pony rides
Played at the Inside Playground
Picnic at the City Park
Saw the troll being built.
We also all got together:
* Grandpa's Birthday at the
park in Alexandria
*Open Deer hunting weekend
~~~~

Deer Hunting Success = 1

~~~~
Birthday parties  for the grands are
always fun.    A picture is taken
at each of the parties.
In the Fall, we had a
3rd Grader, a 2nd Grader,
a 1st Grader and
a Kindergartener go
back to school.
Grand #5 started preschool.
~~~~

We kept busy with several projects -

The new shelter for the horses was
completed.   And is also fun to decorate.

And a fence was built around three
sides of the garden.

We also enjoyed some 4 wheelin' in
the area; enjoyed family and friends
that visited in July.

~~~~~
After 2023 being a busy year, we did
all gather early for Christmas this
year.
Another year gone by, our children are
busy adults with good sized families.  The
grandchildren are all healthy
and growing!
Just some of the things the Grands
did this past year:
T-ball, football, basketball,
dance, county fairs,
Awana, Sunday
School, swimming, camping
 and fishing.
~~~~

This year we returned to the BigHorns
with the SxS, brought Teeter with and
enjoyed the mountains.

Not long after we left, the mountain
started on fire and many of the areas
we drove around in were burned.
They did protect the lodges.

~~~~
In October, Mom found out she had
Stage 1a Endometrial Grade 2 Cancer.
The fall was busy with a couple of
surgeries and appointments.   The
final result is good but she has
chosen to do radiation treatments
for added security.  We pray the
treatments (after the first of the year)
 are kind and that the
cancer doesn't return.
~~~~~~~~~

The fall was busy with Deer Hunting,
Thanksgiving and then an early Christmas!

We made need some rest but we
are ready to move on to 2025!

Working On The To-Do List in

December!

Today the weather was again

very mild creeping up into the 30's

(yesterday we had 39 degrees).

The snow is melting, it is now

very icy everywhere.

And Foggy!

I was able to check on some things with
the SxS.   This is the hay field (there is
woods over there - you couldn't see it).

So foggy you couldn't see the other
buildings.

I checked the horse fence (I think this
is a first doing it the end of December).

And we had two piles that waited all
summer and fall to be burned.

Today was a perfect day ~ we even got
some other dead trees taken care.

It was a good day (other than being
very careful on the ice).

We had additional outside helpers,
we are dog sitting.

It was a good day, soon it will
be getting cold again.

Crappy Winter Weather

 We had a couple of crappy days.

The two days following Christmas were

misty, cloudy, wet and at times extremely

foggy!

I was going to dig out my snowshoes

but now it is wet, muddy and icy

in most places.

Merry Christmas!

Christmas Eve ~ we took a drive looking
for Christmas lights and made a visit to
the nursing home.

Christmas Day ~ spent some time at Mom
and Dad's for lunch.

It was a pretty quiet Christmas with no
other family members at the farm.

Merry Christmas!

Christmas Ornaments ~ New in 2024

New Ornaments...

Beautiful handiwork wreath that
Daughter found at the Original
Market.

New ornament for Grand #7 (he was
born so close to Christmas last year
that the ornament came later).

The ornament the Grands made this
year.

And the carved snowflake made
by the neighbors.

Ornaments, all so very special!

Turning 1!

Grand #7 is "1" year

old today!

Grand #7 is our "almost Christmas
baby".  He is now 1!

 We shared his actual birthday evening

with him.  A party will be later since

his family is busy the next couple

of weeks.

The crumbly cupcake was yummy!

He is a busy boy on the move,
walking and getting into
lots of things.

He has many helpers ~ those
big brothers.

Happy Birthday, have a
great year being ONE!

We Love you!

Christmas Quiet

Oh Christmas gatherings happen

fast and then it gets so very quiet

after it is done.

We will make a visit to the folks

at the nursing home and also

visit my parents on one of

the actual Christmas days.

No other family (sisters) will be

home.

It will be time for a cup of hot
chocolate and the
Christmas tree lights too.

Christmas Tradition

 We have traditions ~ Christmas pictures

is one of them.   The kids are all used to

it, so really cooperate well.

We do the pictures first thing after

everybody arrives (it really goes

pretty quickly).

Grand #5 tried to hold Grand #7 :)

Busy Day and so much Christmas fun

So fun ~ and sometimes you just have
to listen.

* My name is only on one
* The little kids have two presents
* This present  is open, lets peak
to see what it is

and on and on   :)

They all helped pass the gifts out.

Everybody but Grand #7 knows how
to spell their names.

There were gifts from Santa

Santa's theme appeared to be Books, Books
and project books.

Grand #7 was born just days before
Christmas last year, so he was
finding the paper, ribbons and attached
decorations pretty fun.  He turns
ONE in just a few days.

For the most part we opened the
gifts taking turns.  We went
youngest to oldest.

~~~
We had brunch ~ caramel rolls, biscuits & gravy,
egg bake and more
Brunch brought up an interesting
conversation at the kids' table.
~~~

They decorated Grandma's window.

Then grandma and grandpa had a
gift for each family.   They kids read
aloud the instructions ~ this box
was a family gift.

Some got sleeping bags ~ walkie
talkies ~ word search books ~ hot
chocolate kits and some holiday
fun!

So much fun!   The adults opened some
gifts while the kids were busy with
their new things (and some of the
kids took a nap).

Great Grandma and Grandpa were
picked up for a visit.
