I noticed we had mushrooms
growing in the yard ~ a lot of
mushrooms.
A family member had a friend last year
whose dog got deathly sick and after
some time it was determined from
eating mushrooms. (the dog survived).
So I was off to
do some research...
Good ol' google said they appear to be a
"Blewit", they grow on decaying matter
such as leaves, pine needles and rotting wood.
It further said, if a dog eats a blewit or any
wild mushroom it should be treated as
an emergency.
We have had one or two mushrooms show
up in the yard at times and I haven't worried
about it but there was quite a few all over our
main yard and where the dogs would be
tied.
For removal, it was suggested to pull
the mushroom (getting all of it), put in
a bag and discard to the garbage.
You don't want the spores to get
spread area.
Interesting for sure, better safe
than sorry.
