How to contribute

There's allot of ways to help out.

Most of these things can be done with a quick comment !

A thank you goes a long way for me and other contributors.
Comment if you come across a dead link.
Comment if you like/dislike the content on a post.
Comment on the quality of the file.

You can help fill the basement with goodies .

Upload a file(s) to share with everyone. (If you upload a zip or rar with multiple comics or other files please tell me the issue/episode numbers contained within.) * see below for more info.

Recommend a website that has goodies.
Recommend a specific webpage on a site .
Recommend a webpage that has links to downloadable content.
Please Do not share the actual DL links found on other sites but rather the webpage that houses it - It's a ettiquette thing -thanks.
Do Not share New stuff. Only stuff earlier than 2000
This blog is open to everyone so please no adult (X) stuff. (Though you can still email that stuff :) Haha.. but no seriously..)

There is one final catch - please make sure the files you share are of decent quality (if it is a comic make sure the pages can be read. If it's a movie make sure it's all there. Pretty much only share something you would want to download yourself.)

If interested in helping with a file just leave a message or a comment. If your a newbie to this process I can help to make it painless. You can also email me directly at OFF LIMITS STUFF FOR LEGALITY REASONS

I gather you are talking about the scans. Usually folks get upset when you edit the cbz/cbr's so out of respect i havent deleted tags created and or changed the name of the files (at least they are the same as when i find them) I can in the future double check and make sure to edit stuff if this is truly your wishes. I would like to also say a big thanks for all these (and more) great works ive seen on the net. one quick question which i have to ask - why include the tags and names in the first place? not understanding the logic (but i dont have to, ill accept your wishes)just curious..

Teachbug said...: look I am happy that you appreciate the efforts of my work to bring scans to you and others, BUT having them shared out for on the web for the wrong eyes to see is dangerous, you should have a PRIVATE hub or webspace that you can control.
We add the tags so people will know which scanner did the work, some folks actually collect scanners work, not just the books.; March 8, 2009 at 8:42 PM

After four issues as Sinister House of Secret Love, the romance angle was abandoned and the title changed to Secrets of Sinister House. Sure, iv'e seen lots and lots of scans that i've done turn up in torrents, and it's nice to see them used to fill out a run of an issue or line (for example, about 20% of the issues in the Skywald torrent doing the rounds of late came from my scanner) but when a whole post gets ripped from my blog and turns up here... well a fella's just got to say something.
Now, those nice Phantom Stranger books as pdf's that were posted a while back, for example, were lifted in whole from my blog -

So then, it sure would be the right neighborly thing to do, to put up a link, so folks can maybe scan some books themselves rather than just pinch stuff from one place and smack it down in another, wouldn't you say? Everyone's got feelings, you know?

just upload the cbr there. (hit 'browse' find the cbr on your computer - and hit send (add info if you want in the second text option) it's pretty easy to upload. when done a link will be supplied to you. just copy and paste it either here in a comment or you can email it to me at johnzentiger@gmail.com

He puts the jpegs right on his page, just click on them to enlarge. If you haven't tried Atlas horror, this is a nice way to look at it without downloading a run of comics. In the last two posts Karswell posted THREE stories drawn by my new fave Al Eadeh, whose art he describes as "weird-ass illustrative genius" and "brilliantly bizarre, brain-damaged style." Spot on. I first discovered Al Eadeh in Marvel Tales #126 posted on this blog (cyclops)by Dave.

I would not object if you allowed downloads of up to four pages of each issue, none from the same story, but by providing downloads of entire issues, you DO put my magazine into public domain! Based on the famous British TV series starring Patrick McGoohan, and the Graphic Novel by Dean Motter and Mark Askwith.

Once upon a time there was a land called The Sixties, where brave men and women fought a new kind of campaign, a secret war of deception, diplomacy and sometimes murder. RS: There were plenty of tentacles. Tentacles were very important. We were always kind to squiggly creatures and never abused them.

Richard said...: Black Magic is a fifty-issue horror anthology comic book series published by Prize Comics from 1950-1961. Its numbering continued for three more issues as the humor comic, Cool Cat.

DC Comics published a nine-issue series reprinting material from the earlier series by Joe Simon and Jack Kirby. The new incarnation featured new covers with the same logo as the earlier issues of the Prize series and ran from 1973-1975. The reprint issues generally grouped the stories by theme; for example, all the stories in issue #1 dealt with intolerance toward human oddities, while all the stories in #4 were about death.

I highly recommend #29, with Kirby, Ditko and two by Al Eadeh, a great artist who did many stories for the Atlas line. It's a beautiful scan.

I downloaded the cyclops batches first and then grabbed a few higher res scans at Golden Age Comics. Cyclops has some they don't.

Dave, do you still have the DC Black Magic scans that you gave to comicsworld? Since he compresses everything, I assume the ones you found were higher resolution? Any chance?; January 23, 2010 at 10:54 PM

During a Rapidshare search I came across the Unity Crossover from Valient comics. Some of the issues have already been posted as part of complete series posts, but this pack includes the bookends and issues from series not yet posted. Besides its handy to have all issues in one download for when you just can't find that one CD when trying to read a crossover story!

Heil Honey I'm Home! is a controversial British television sitcom, produced in 1990, and was cancelled after one episode aired.

The show centred on fictionalised versions of Adolf Hitler and Eva Braun, who live next door to a Jewish couple, Arny and Rosa Goldenstein. The show's plot is centred on Hitler's inability to get along with his neighbours. A caption at the beginning of the episode presented the series as a 'lost' sitcom from the 50s, recently re-discovered. The show spoofed elements of 1950s and 1960s American sitcoms such as Leave It to Beaver and I Love Lucy, including the corny title, light (even vacuous) plots and dialogue, and unwarranted applause whenever a character appeared on screen.

The plot of episode 1 involved Adolf telling Eva of the impending arrival of Neville Chamberlain, and begging her not to tell the Goldensteins. Of course, Eva lets it slip to Rosa that Chamberlain ("the most important man in Europe!") is coming round and Rosa tells Arny. They then crash the dinner party the Hitlers have prepared for Chamberlain.

The programme was written by Geoff Atkinson and commissioned by satellite television channel Galaxy, part of British Satellite Broadcasting (which later became part of BSkyB). It was shown at 9.30pm on a Monday night, after an episode of Dad's Army. During the credits of Dad's Army, Galaxy's announcer said "And unless Arthur Lowe defeats him, it's the man himself in a few moments in Heil Honey, I'm Home!, as the Galaxy Comedy Weekend continues."

The programme proved controversial when first aired, as it was seen by many as being in very poor taste. It was accused of crassly trivialising Nazism, although others have defended it as being in the same tradition of Third Reich parodies such as 'Allo 'Allo! and Hogan's Heroes, or along similar lines to the portrayal of Hitler as a domestic fool in The Producers. They also point out the crassness was intentional, and part of the parody anyway.[1]

Only one episode (the pilot) was ever screened, making it the only UK show cancelled after one episode, although eight episodes were planned and a number were recorded. The filming of the series was cancelled immediately by Sky (BSkyB) on its acquisition of British Satellite Broadcasting. This was probably due in part to the ire that accompanied the first episode. Neither the pilot or other episodes have ever been aired since. Incubus (Esperanto: Inkubo) is a 1965 black-and-white American horror film, restored in 2001. Incubus was directed by Leslie Stevens, creator of The Outer Limits, and stars William Shatner, shortly before he would begin his work on Star Trek. The film's striking cinematography was by Conrad Hall, who went on to win three Academy Awards for his work on the films Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, American Beauty and Road to Perdition. The film was performed entirely in the constructed language Esperanto. This was done to create an eerie, other-worldly feeling, and the director has prohibited dubbing into other languages.

The film was lost for many years because the original print of the film burned in a fire and all copies were reported lost, destroyed, or worn away, but a copy of the film with French subtitles was found in the permanent collection of the Cinémathèque Française in Paris. The Sci Fi Channel funded the restoration from that print and released a DVD in 2001 that included subtitles in English and French. Two unpublished but apparently complete Magnus comics, tentatively numbered 47 & 48, are rumored to exist. Apparently prepared for a Magnus comback that never happened.

When a story has an ongoing aspect it is hard to imagine a better way to sabatage a comic than to randomly reissue old stories. However Gold Key/Whitman did find ways to make Magnus even more unatractive. Not only were the reprints in random order, issues were released in random order, so you wound think you missed an issue, when in fact it hadden't been published yet. The order of publication was 29, 32, 30, 31, 35, 33, 34, 36, 37, 38, 39, 40, 41, 42, 43, 44, 45, 46. During this period comic prices skyrocked, going from 12 to 15 to 25 to 30 cents over an 8 year span. For Further confusion Whitman aquired Gold Key in this period and started publishing the same comic under a Whitman logo while continung to publish under the Gold Key logo.
Magnus stories were like Law and Order episodes, largely selfcontained but not entirely. A Magnus story would occasionly referance some past event, difficult to track when issue publication and sequence were random. Rather like watching Law and Order and trying to follow the backstory of Lenny and his daughter when you don't know if Lenny is going to be in the next shown program, as it could easily be an episode before or after Lenny's stint with the show, and if it is a Lenny show, and involves his daughter you don't know wheather this episode is before or after the last Lenny & Daughter episode. The main storys, being self contained, are just as easy to follow and enjoy as they ever were, but background stories start to disolve into noise."

When Valiant Comics started they licensed 3 characters published by Western Publishing. Doctor Solar, Magnus and Turok. Before spending the first couple of years publishing unsuccessful Nintendo and WWF books and basically spending all their capital. Finally with cash running out the decided to do something with the characters they had originally licensed.

If you compare the publishing history by far the most successful of the 3 Gold Key characters was Turok Son of Stone lasting 130 issues of his own title. So of course they launched Solar and Magnus books. Finally after Unity had introduced the character, Valiant released a new series now called Turok Dinosaur Hunter.

The rest as they say is history... or at least it was until Acclaim took over...

When Acclaim took over Valiant they cancelled all the titles and started again. In doing so they got rid of the cohesive universe and alter characters to fit both their video games and their perceived "younger" audience. (For example Ninjack went from Ninja to kid fighting video game monsters). Suddenly the Turok of Gold Key and Valiant was ret-conned to be one of a number of Turoks who is replaced by his Grandson... (and hilarity ensues...)

Knighthawk was a character who first appeared in the Coninuity Comic Valeria the She Bat 5. He was originally meant to spin out into his own book before Continuity Comics folded. Eventually the scripts and art were finished by Neal Adams and were published by Valiant/Acclaim under their Windjammer imprint.

Sensation Comics is the title of a comic book series published by DC Comics that ran for 109 issues between 1942 and 1952. For most of its run, the lead feature was Wonder Woman. Other series that appeared were the Black Pirate, the Gay Ghost, Mr. Terrific, Wildcat, Sargon the Sorcerer, Hal Mason, the Whip, the Atom, Little Boy Blue, Hop Harrigan, Romance, Inc., Lady Danger, Doctor Pat, and Astra.
