Recently my little boy Thor become enthralled with anything car related. Starting with the Cars movie and then Wacky Races and Speed Racer the kid cant get enough.

So I'm trying to start a car related thread with the best(worst) recommendations. For kids - adults,

Movie :Crossroads Crash (1973)

Part of a film series on typical types of automobile crashes and their causes, this films starts with a goofy sequence with Bonnie and Clyde-type characters.

Like many films made to address social woes (drugs, teen pregnancy, shoplifting) drivers education films were often cautionary tales where people were punished for their mistakes. The challenge of these films was to get their audiences to identify with the characters and situations on the screen. Especially hard were teenage audiences who were often behind the wheel with a foolhardy sense of immortality and disrespect for authority.

Movie : Coach for Cinderella, A (1936)

Imaginative cartoon that breaks down the parts and features of a Chevrolet automobile into units that can be understood in terms of plant and animal life: caterpillars roll into circles and become automobile tires; in the "visible V-6" fireflies equal spark plugs and mice provide motive power. Naturally, tells part of the Cinderella story, too. Animation supervisor thought to be Frank Goldman.

Movie : Chance You Take

AV geek fun once again.

A very effective and gripping short on tires safety and why you should but General tires. The short begins on how every man should be safe from men doing window cleaning on high rises (he falls!) to behind the wheel of your car. A nice calvacade of smashed in cars are shown, and several test car crashes. All of this can be avoided of course, by using General Tires. A very nice comparison between 'normal' tires and the ultra-superior General Tire. A pretty effective selling tool, especially with those stock shots of families, asking whether your family is worth it...

Hot Rod Girl (1956)

When his younger brother, Steve (Del Erickson), is killed racing a hot-rod, Jeff Northup (John Smith) blames himself for the accident since he had built the car for his brother and had encouraged him to race it, with other boys on a special course provided by police detective Ben Merrill (Chuck Connors), who is working to reduce the city's hot-rod fatalities by providing supervision for the dangerous hobby.
Jeff withdraws from participating in races on Merrill's course and, without his leadership, revert to racing on the streets. "Bronc" Talbott (Mark Andrews), a newcomers, makes a play for Jeff's girlfriend, Lisa Vernon (Lori Nelson). Eventually, the taunting-Talbott forces Jeff into a race which results in the death of a bicycling child, and evidence seems to indicate Jeff was at fault.
Run time: 79 min.
