TV: Thriller

repost (just trying to get these together in one post for easier access)
Here is another one from the very cool suspense thriller series starring Boris Karloff
(If your not familiar with this series it was somewhat similar to Alfred Hitchcock's TV series or the Twilight Zone)
1961 Season 2 Episode 11
Dialogues with Death
Two separate tales: In "Friend of the Dead", a morgue attendent (Boris Karloff) seems to be able to have conversations with the corpses, and in "Welcome Home", a young couple arrive at the home of their aunt and uncle (Boris again)who seem to believe the pair are dead.

An old, mysterious pair of eyeglasses offer a unique advantage to the wearer—the ability to read the thoughts of others. But there's a price to pay for such wonderful magic, as those who don the glasses ultimately suffer a violent death.

This episode is based on a story by Robert Bloch, well known to genre fans as the man who penned the novel on which Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho was based. Character actor Harry Townes should be equally familiar, having guest appearances on other genre shows such as The Twilight Zone, Alfred Hitchcock Presents, The Outer Limits, Star Trek, and Night Gallery, to name just a few.

TV/Sport : Ninja Warrior /Sasuke

What if Bruce Lee and Jackie Chan created a obstacle course? Well I bet it would be close to what is known as Sasuke aka Ninja Warrior. A wonderful cross of sport that pushes the individual over their personal limits and a group competition reality show. This Asian export is a must for everyone! (this is not like MXC - this is for real and cool as hell to boot) I highly recommend at least checking out a clip online. - Enjoy!

wiki info

Sasuke is a Japanese sports entertainment television special in which 100 competitors attempt to complete a four stage obstacle course. An edited version, renamed Ninja Warrior, is screened in at least 18 other countries.

Shot on location at Midoriyama, Aoba-ku, Yokohama, Kanagawa, Japan, it airs on the Tokyo Broadcasting System (TBS) between Japanese television drama seasons. Each 3-hour special covers an entire competition. There have been 26 specials, approximately one new special per season (twice per year). The show is produced by Monster9 and is one of the spin-offs of Muscle Ranking (็ญ‹่‚‰็•ชไป˜ Kinniku Banzuke?), another sports entertainment competition, which currently airs on G4 under the name Unbeatable Banzuke. Until the 10th competition, Sasuke was broadcast as a special part of Muscle Ranking, but it became an independent program when Muscle Ranking was discontinued. The first competition was held indoors, marking the only time Sasuke did not take place outside. Competitions generally start in the daytime and continue until completed regardless of weather or darkness.

There have been several programs related to Sasuke. Kunoichi, perhaps the most well-known spin off, is a version of Sasuke restricted to female competitors only. There have also been competitions held for children and the elderly.

Applicants are interviewed or auditioned and trial rounds are held to test their physical ability until the field is narrowed to 100 competitors. Sasuke consists of four stages of increasing difficulty; competitors must complete a stage to advance. Before the 18th tournament, a 1200-meter run was held in order to determine the competitors' starting positions. Each competition is taped prior to the air date, edited for time, and broadcast as a 3-hour show.

T.V.: The Black Adder pilot

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
The Black Adder is the unaired pilot episode of the television series Blackadder. Taped on 20 June 1982,it features the earliest incarnation of Rowan Atkinson's character Edmund Blackadder, and follows a plot that was closely adapted into the series one episode "Born to Be King".

Like the first series, The Black Adder, it was written by Richard Curtis and Rowan Atkinson. However, the episode features a number of major differences to the aired first series, mainly in casting and its Elizabethan era setting (eventually returned to for the second series). Most notably, comic actor Philip Fox plays the character Baldrick, rather than Tony Robinson, who was to play the role in all subsequent series. John Savident plays the role of the King, who was replaced by Brian Blessed for the first series. Prince Harry was played by Robert Bathurst instead of Robert East. The rest of the cast (Atkinson, Tim McInnerny and Elspet Gray) were reunited for the commissioned series.[2]

It was directed by Geoff Posner, who was the director of the last series of Not the Nine O'Clock News. Producer was the then head of Comedy Department, John Howard Davies but this was a temporary measure because John Lloyd, who had co-produced Not The Nine O'Clock News was working on a special with Pamela Stephenson.[1] When the series was commissioned, John took over the producer's role. A unique instrumental version of the "Blackadder" theme by Howard Goodall was used, performed by an orchestra and harpsichord. A revised arrangement, featuring mock-heroic lyrics, was used for the first series.

Heil Honey I'm Home

Heil Honey I'm Home! is a controversial British television sitcom, produced in 1990, and was cancelled after one episode aired.
Image and video hosting by TinyPic

The show centred on fictionalised versions of Adolf Hitler and Eva Braun, who live next door to a Jewish couple, Arny and Rosa Goldenstein. The show's plot is centred on Hitler's inability to get along with his neighbours. A caption at the beginning of the episode presented the series as a 'lost' sitcom from the 50s, recently re-discovered. The show spoofed elements of 1950s and 1960s American sitcoms such as Leave It to Beaver and I Love Lucy, including the corny title, light (even vacuous) plots and dialogue, and unwarranted applause whenever a character appeared on screen.

The plot of episode 1 involved Adolf telling Eva of the impending arrival of Neville Chamberlain, and begging her not to tell the Goldensteins. Of course, Eva lets it slip to Rosa that Chamberlain ("the most important man in Europe!") is coming round and Rosa tells Arny. They then crash the dinner party the Hitlers have prepared for Chamberlain.

The programme was written by Geoff Atkinson and commissioned by satellite television channel Galaxy, part of British Satellite Broadcasting (which later became part of BSkyB). It was shown at 9.30pm on a Monday night, after an episode of Dad's Army. During the credits of Dad's Army, Galaxy's announcer said "And unless Arthur Lowe defeats him, it's the man himself in a few moments in Heil Honey, I'm Home!, as the Galaxy Comedy Weekend continues."

The programme proved controversial when first aired, as it was seen by many as being in very poor taste. It was accused of crassly trivialising Nazism, although others have defended it as being in the same tradition of Third Reich parodies such as 'Allo 'Allo! and Hogan's Heroes, or along similar lines to the portrayal of Hitler as a domestic fool in The Producers. They also point out the crassness was intentional, and part of the parody anyway.[1]

Only one episode (the pilot) was ever screened, making it the only UK show cancelled after one episode, although eight episodes were planned and a number were recorded. The filming of the series was cancelled immediately by Sky (BSkyB) on its acquisition of British Satellite Broadcasting. This was probably due in part to the ire that accompanied the first episode. Neither the pilot or other episodes have ever been aired since. The show has since become renowned as one of the most controversial programmes ever to have been screened in the UK; it listed at #61 on Channel 4's The 100 Greatest TV Moments from Hell.

Bulldog Drummond Comes Back-here
Bulldog Drummond's Revenge 1937
Most of the story-line revolves around a secret new explosive that a scientist has invented, which the villains would obviously love to get their hands on. Some of the better moments come when the main action interferes with Drummond's plans to marry Phyllis (Louise Campbell), while flustering the befuddled but ever-helpful Algy (Reginald Denny).

John Barrymore is always good fun as Colonel Neilson, and he makes good use of his opportunities here, while E.E. Clive does likewise as the quick-witted Tenny.

Bulldog Drummond's Peril 1938
The intended wedding of Captain Hugh "Bulldog" Drummond (John Howard) to Phyllis Clavering (Louise Campbell) at her villa in Switzerland is stopped short (once again) when someone murders the Swiss policeman who is guarding their wedding presents. The killer makes off with their prize possession, a synthetic diamond, made by a secret process by Professor Bernard Goodman (Halliwell Hobbes), the father of their good friend Gwen Longworth (Nydia Westman). A guest, Sir Raymond Blantyre (Matthew Boulton), head of the Metropolitan Diamond Syndicate, disappears at the same time, and Drummond suspects that Sir Raymond, who has the most to lose if Professor Goodman proceeds with his plans to publish his secret process, has something to do with the theft. He leaves Phyllis and chases back to England. Colonel Nielsen (John Barrymore), of Scotland Yard, as usual scoffs at Drummond's suspicions and insists that a man as respected as Sir Raymond could not possibly be involved in such a crime. But, as usual, he has Drummond followed just in the event he turns up something unexpected......
Ya think? What could happen?

Bulldog Drummond in Africa-1938

Phyllis witnesses the abduction, and quickly finds Drummond to tell him. They track the gang to Morocco, where they will face many obstacles to their goal of rescuing Neilsen. Bulldog Drummond's Secret Police 1939

When England's most-noted history professor reveals this to Drummond, he is invited to stay at the manor house. He is murdered before he can figure out the meaning of the ancient cypher, and Drummond & Co. have to discover it AND the murderer.

A VERY interesting story, with secret passageways, ancient torture devices, and all sorts of "death-dealing devices".
